Political Memes @lemmy.world

The people of Lemmy have spoken!

Cross posting here for visibility as I was thinking that a good chunk of you guys might have blocked !conservative@lemmy.world so may be unaware of what's going down and would like everyone to have a chance to voice their opinion on it.

Tl;Dr: .world, .ee and SJW conservative comm mods have either abandoned or been removed (shocker) within the last 2 weeks or so.

I have pitched my name in to mod the .world comm as a meme comm to parody conservative ideology, below is the original post I made on it as well as a link to the .world support comm request post

Original: https://lemmy.world/post/26088940

Taking a look at what gets upvoted and what is downvoted to oblivion, it's quite clear what the community at large wants.

We don't want !conservative@lemmy.world to be just another "serious conservative comm" any longer, they have whole instances dedicated to their kind of "free speech" and other comms as well.

So to that end I have thrown my hat in the ring to be mod and steer this comm to be what people want it to be so show your support at https://lemmy.world/post/25837943

I have also typed out a proposed draft set of rules to keep things from "going off the rails":

  1. Parody With Purpose: This is a space for humorous takes on conservative politics. We welcome satire, but draw the line at content that promotes racism, sexism, homophobia, or other forms of bigotry.
  1. Memes Over Manifestos: This community focuses on humor and parody, not serious political debate. There are plenty of spaces for earnest conservative discussion—this isn't one of them.
  1. Highlight Contradictions: The best content points out inconsistencies and hypocrisies in conservative talking points. Creative commentary is encouraged.
  1. Public Figures Fair Game: Politicians and pundits can be satirized, but no targeting of private individuals, doxxing, or harassment.
  1. No News Zone: Memes only, news should be sent to the nearest relevant comm
  1. Clear Satire: Make your satirical intent reasonably clear. We're here to mock bad ideas, not accidentally spread them.
  1. Relevant Content: All posts should relate to conservative politics or ideologies in some way.
  1. Community Respect: Disagree with fellow members all you want, but personal attacks aren't welcome. Save the criticism for the ideas, not each other.
  1. Moderation Discretion: Mods will use reasonable judgment in applying these rules. We'll be fair, but firm.
  1. Remember The Purpose: This community exists as a pressure valve—a place to process through humor the often frustrating world of conservative politics.

  • I can't say I have any sympathy for them. Several times I would comment on their posts with what I thought were legitimate questions and each time I would be told I wasn't allowed to ask any questions or say anything they didn't agree with because it's a conservative community. Most of the time someone would remove whatever I had asked anyway.

If the snowflakes can't even manage a simple reasonable conversation then they don't deserve a community

  • It's too bad you can't change the name of a community after the fact so it would be easier to know it's not a true conservative community.

Unless you wanna keep it as a trap. That's the only reason I didn't block it: I could just find who was posting actual conservative bullshit and block them so I don't have to deal with their shit outside this space.
