Twitch’s new storage limits will purge huge swaths of Internet gaming history

  • What are they supposed to store an indefinite amount of video for an indefinite amount of time?

    • If they get paid for it, absolutely.

      Aside from that they could at least provide a bulk download, which is another dick move by these walled gardens.

      But Twitch says it won't be offering a bulk download tool for that purpose, sticking [users] with the daunting task of downloading and/or reuploading their clips one by one (or using dodgy third-party bulk download tools to do so).

      Granted, a programmer or advanced user should have no problem with it but the potential for security incidents is huge for normal users trying to save their favorite clips.

      • There is a button in vods that sends a video straight to YouTube, but it can be a bit flaky and doing more than one at a time is disaster prone.

  • Time for Fediverse yet anyone?

    I'm hearing Twitch streamers say they just move their stuff to YouTube. Good call giving YouTube more power obviously couldn't backfire.
