According to the Toronto Police Service Board, members and executives of the TPA are, "like every municipal police officer, prohibited from endorsing or opposing candidates in an election."
The Police Association of Ontario and the Ontario Provincial Police Association have also publicly backed Ford.
So gross! Never forget him endorsing his favourite copper Mark Saunders for mayor.

Nitpick, but I take issue with "Toronto Police Union" in headlines (and jfc don't just fix it in the byline). The only reason they're ever in the headlines is for egregious shit, and it gives real unions a bad name. (For anyone scrolling by who didn't know, Toronto police aren't allowed to have a union, because obviously they'd have WAY too much power if they did, so they spit on that by having one anyway and calling it a labour Association).

How is it appropriate for police to use their office and reputation as police to try to influence an election in the first place? It's very important for our police not to be partisan, and to be seen that way by the public. But we all know they love the convoy, antivax bullshit, and other sketchy politics. How far from that is (eg) gay and trans bashing? They shouldn't be allowed to have this political pressure group at all.
