I love it. I do wish they had opened up mods and community servers before launch but the core game plays and looks so good. Most of the missing modes were never core to the game, hopefully they add some of them back after reworking them later (DZ?). It runs even better than GO did on Linux too.

CS2 feels like a downgrade from CSGO in a lot of ways, but CSGO at launch and CSGO at end of life were two completely different games, the same is probably true for CS2. Long term support is what keeps games going.

Yeah it's almost like deleting a game to replace it with huge changes is bad, actually.

Would anything drastic need to be done to a map to just load it up in CS2? I would assume the file format is at least the same and they're built using Hammer.
- Playable maps need to be recompiled. It's a completely different engine after all.
- Old maps were .bsp , new ones are .vpk . So like the other guy said, would probably need to be recompiled in HAMMER.

Actually this maybe should have been named Counter-Strike 3. 1 was the original based on HL1, 2 is the Source version, and this should be 3. CS:GO is a variant of Source version with different gaming modes. I wonder if a GO version of this new CS will appear.
I do miss the FireArms mod of CS1.
- Valve can't release things with 3 in the name.
- My head cannon goes like this:
  2000- Counter-Strike
  2003- Counter-Strike 1.6
  2004- Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (1.7)
  2004- Counter-Strike Source (1.8)
  2012- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (1.9)
  2023- Counter-Strike 2(.0)
  
  Needs a little action quake origin entry.
- IIRC the only reason it's called CS2 is because it's on the Source 2 engine
  
  The next half life will be called Half Life 2: Source 2

All I want from CS2 is to remove legs, like who thought it would've been a good idea?
- I rather see Valve work on actually crucial features than to put effort in removing features that are already implemented.
- I dont understand. Legs as in the character models legs?
  
  Yes. CS2 has added legs to your firsrt person view model, so when you look down, you see the your character's body instead of nothing.
  I find it a welcome addition.
