UK shouldn't even be on there as an option you will still have a vastly better time in most(all?) blue US states than you will in the UK where you will face a battle even to get private hrt.
The UK page is making me pull my hair out tbh.
However, there are a few legal protections for trans people
Lmao no there fucking aren't. Even literal murder has been deemed not a hate crime. Unless the other person is explicitly screaming slurs while they fire you or kick you out of your apartment for being trans (with evidence) then you're shit out of luck.
Legal gender recognition: The Gender Recognition Act (GRA) 2004 allows trans people to change their legal gender, though the process is considered outdated and difficult. Some reforms have been proposed but not enacted yet.
yet
yet
No. Not yet. They never will. It's not happening.
Anti-discrimination laws: The Equality Act 2010 protects trans people from discrimination in employment, housing, and public services under the category of "gender reassignment."
lol
Public healthcare (NHS): The National Health Service (NHS) offers free healthcare, including gender-affirming treatment, but waiting times can be extremely long.
Waiting times are forever. The whole thing has been intentionally kneecapped by Labour such that it is now impossible to get healthcare through it.
and asylum for LGBTQ+ individuals facing persecution.
I don't believe that you'll get this from the US. And if anyone does get it from the US it will immediately be turned into a political issue, the trans person that gets it will be harassed endlessly as a political football and will not be left alone.
Anti-trans rhetoric has gained prominence in media and politics, and proposed reforms to improve the Gender Recognition Act were scrapped in 2020. However, activists and organizations continue to fight for trans rights.
Yeah they're fighting, but they're shit. Liberal collaborators that think we can desperately beg for rights and that they'll be given because it's the right thing to do or moral or the science says so blah blah blah liberals are so fucking stupid and useless.
Hate crimes against trans people have risen, but legal protections exist.
Protests are generally safe, and the UK has strict laws against police brutality.
lol lmao, yeah alright you're probably not going to get shot but I had two fingers broken by a baton at my last protest and they loooooooooooooooooooooooooove police dogs and horses.
Hate speech laws exist, meaning some online speech can lead to legal consequences.
I have not seen a single instance of anti-trans speech leading to legal consequences. Being prejudice is explicitly allowed,
Really really think all the language that plays down many of these issues should not be there. It gives the wrong impression many times.
In terms of HRT, if you are at least 25, currently you'll have a far easier time getting HRT even in red states than a most places - couldn't be easier other than making it OTC. Granted I expect things to get to worse and that says nothing about legal name changes, legal gender marker changes, access for minors and young adults, social treatment, etc.
Yeah the idea of this site, I'm sure, is that things are going to get much worse. If it gets to the point of concentration camps for trans people, UK would be better.
Though honestly Canada seems like the easiest choice. English language, similar culture. Going some place very different might be a good learning experience, but culture shock is a real thing that exists
UK is an awful choice. Some countries are a bit easier to move to depending on where you're from, like Canada or the Netherlands. Canada is generally the easiest, if you know French and English and are young you almost auto qualify.
They also put Brazil in there... I also wouldn't recommend it as a good choice, it might be better than the US if you can secure a higher income, but it isn't very guaranteed. There are so many Christians and very, very conservative ones. Also, let's not forget, a very high level of violence against trans women (including murder). I feel like many of the issues you described are also a problem in Brazil, maybe even worse.
I didn't add this before, because I wasn't sure, but Brasil is the country with the most registered trans homicides, I can even provide a source if needed
