It'll be interesting to see what competitors/alternatives that come out

Look at how many Twitter Alternatives out there were created/gained popularity after Musk took over

Bluesky, Mastodon, Spoutible, CoHost, HexBear, SpaceHey,

and those are just the ones I've been to/heard of, there are probably more that I didn't mention

with this Tik Tok ban in place, It'll be interesting to see what other competitors (That aren't owned by Google, Meta or Elon Musk) try to fill the void

  • The problem with that is the sheer amount of bandwidth and storage space required for this

    • I've wondered what it would take to get pixelfed beefed up to be the next Instagram but know nothing about programming or whatever to even guess. Like just adding stories to pixelfed as it is would probably encourage a huge wave of people to migrate

    Pixelfed developers are trying to do a tiktoklike called loops. Sadly the beta is only for iOS.
