Trans Megathread for the Week of 2025-01-06 to 2025-01-12 - Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Children of Time is a 2015 science fiction novel by Adrian Tchaikovsky.
In the distant future, humanity seeks to create new habitats for itself on distant planets, terraforming them and seeding them with life. Dr. Avrana Kern is heading one such project, orbiting the tentatively named "Kern's World", where the plan is to release monkeys infected with a nanovirus that will accelerate their evolution. Through an act of sabotage from an anti-technology group that has also destroyed much of Earth, the monkeys are never released, and the virus instead infects a species of spider, Portia labiata. The book follows the evolution of the spiders and their eventual civilisation, as well as a remnant of humanity that fled to Kern's World hoping to find paradise.
also children of ruin and children of memory, the sequels, are really good

All this time putting nail polish on you'd think I be good at it, nah just slather on a base coat the polish the top. The polish on my skins falls off day after and it looks like I know what I'm doing
now I'm picturing you like this going forward. I do but my hair sometimes but I prefer a long ponytail though if I could braid it then that would be better
I haven't actually done my nails in ages lol and "sporty metalhead nerd" is probably more accurate for me but I'll take it
Kinda wanna get some drapery/asymmetrical Rock Owens ass fits tbh, I kinda like that tech/fitness goth kinda look, idk if that's out of vogue or something but I remember it being hot around 2014-ish
one thing i learned from the 196 matrix beauty room is that you can take a very stiff, thin brush and dip it in acetone and if you get any polish on your skin or cuticle you can just edit it nice and neat with the stiff brush. This has dramatically improved the results for me. i usually do 5 coats total and it takes an hour so i don't want it peeling off the next day!
To make sure i get good coverage i tend to do polish, polish, pearlescent, pearlescent, top coat. I use solid color polish and a matching pearlescent to get the shimmer and depth.
Hope do you add glitter? I have glitter stuff i use for my toes but it's a very chonky polish i never tried mixing it in.
Glitter I got two of them one is basically glue with glitter and the other more polish and glitter. Honestly I dab it lightly then spread it as gently as I can to get it smooth. If it too rough I do add another top coat above to smooth it out more though this last time it was smooth enough to my liking
i have a friend with the lamp and they are so nice if you can do them right but you have to be really good about not touching the cuticle or skin and you have to be able to wrap the end of the nail in polish. If you can do those and get a good seal it's amazing!
like if you touch the cuticle or don't wrap the tip (or don't clean and scuff and dry the nail) the whole nail coating just pops right off in one piece. It's trickier then i expected but once you get it down it's so fast.
I have to trap myself to keep from messing regular nails up and i almost never succeed i just get too antsy sitting there.
