The Liberals, headed by Trudeau, have not been doing so hot lately. Polls have been rather poor, showing the party far behind the Conservatives, and the Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland (an outspoken apologist for Ukrainian Nazis) resigned recently, with more MPs following her lead. Trump's return to power has shaken the Canadian establishment due to his threats to impose massive tariffs on Mexico and Canada, which will have substantial economic consequences given that Canada sends most of its exports to the US, compounding the economic malaise that has affected most of the world over the last few years.
With all this bad news, there are rumors and reports that Trudeau will soon resign, ending his nine years of rule. His fall would be yet another casualty in the wave of incumbent parties falling across the imperial core, only to be replaced by more conservative parties that have very similar policies but wish to cast all blame and hardship onto minorities.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

The Palisades Fire, which has spread over nearly 500 hectares, is raging in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood.
The Eaton Fire, at 400 hectares, is threatening Pasadena.
The Hurst Fire, at 200 hectares, is tearing through the San Fernando Valley near Santa Clarita.
How is there even the fuel load for these to be a significant threat? 500 hectares is like a mile by mile square
Idk about the acre hectare conversion, but hurst is 500, Eaton is

LOL no California fire management is a mess. It’s burning down some of the wealthiest zip codes in the country, but even they aren’t safe from this. You would expect the San Gabriel mountain range in particular to get special treatment because it’s such a perfect spot to burn, but nope. I really thought because it was a rich area, they’d have it under control yesterday

It’s close but not quite there. Right now it’s la county, but only borderline LA city. West Hollywood hasn’t been touched yet but parts of Santa Monica have evacuated. If it crosses sunset blvd in any significant way, then there would be a major issue

I always thought it would be a freak rain event that flooded the LA basin and returned it to nature. Imagine my surprise when it was a fire event instead
Actually, this makes flooding more likely too. Lack of vegetation degrades the integrity and permeability of the soil, so more water rushes off faster and causes mud slides. We love our compounding climate disasters, don't we folks?
Yeah, I'm betting on some biblical style flood caused by rain. There's absolutely no way that city's infrastructure can handle rain.
