I mostly listen to hardcore, metalcore and a bit of electronic stuff
My favorite album this year was probably SeeYouSpaceCowboy - Coup de Grace. Just a masterpiece of that 00s hardcore sound.
Honorable mentions: Poppy - Negative Spaces (pop), Boundaries - Death is Little More (metalcore), Make Them Suffer - Make Them Suffer (deathcore), Nothing More - Carnal Nature (hard rock), Bring Me the Horizon - Post Human: Nex Gen (alt metal)
Beat my personal record of minute listened this year and logged 144,561 minutes.
It's Fat Dog's woof. and it's not remotely close. Kneecap's Fine Art is a fairly safe second place, but Fat Dog are absolutely in a league of their own.
Zoomers accidentally reverse-engineered the post-punk -> synth punk -> EBM sound from the early 80s, and it sounds just as good as something like DAF, Front 242 or Cabaret Voltaire would make. It's also one of my favorites from this year.
I got a ticket to see them live here in Germany next year for a grand total of 19€. Should be fun.
I think the 1 that stand out for me this year was Knocked Loose's and Worm Shepherd's new albums.
Knocked Loose is just solid throwback 00s hardcore for me and Worm Shepherd got a new singer and just recently dropped an absolute banger of a deathcore album. I had their previous album on repeat along with Paleface last year and it jacked up my Spotify Wrapped lol.
I'm a Charli and MagBay fan but sadly I only liked but didn't love the new records... Glad to see both get more recognition though, 2024 was certainly Year of the Brat imo! Other that just missed out were the new albums from Perc, Dax J and Knocked Loose. Sandwell District is a compilation but I had to get Silent Servant on there in some guise, on the biggest musical losses this year along with Luiz Vasquez/The Soft Moon ;_;
2024 was shaping up to be the year I got into Bossa Nova but then Jesse Welles popped up and kinda ruined it all. I suppose he put out two albums this year but I can't remember what they're called and his music is supposed to be heard outdoors anyway.
