Woolworths says it has more than 40 competitors in Australia – we went looking for them
The supermarket giant cites specialist providers, convenience stores and online retailers among its rivals, but many seem well out of its league
This has to be one of the stupidest arguments ever. "Yeah that 1 random fruit store in a very specific suburb of Adelaide is absolutely competition! We aren't a duopoly!"
When people demand competition, we mean another fucking supermarket chain you dill. Nobody seriously considers the cheesecake shop to be an actual competitor you out of touch dinosaur

@Baku My daughter (5) tried to sell some of her art on the pavement to passers-by.
Clearly a competitor to a multi-billion dollar price-fixing, colluding, un-competitive duopoly.
Only 5 years old and already competing with the big bullies.
But can my disabled arse get to them? Can someone with a car and a job afford to drive around for ages getting every little thing? Do they all have what you need?

Spud Shed is a legitimate competitor in WA. At least as good as Aldi in terms of range. They're also the only stores open 24x7, here. Colesworth close at 9pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends.
They don't play on the same level as Colesworth though. Maybe a few percent market share even here?
Woolies could argue that every dollar spent at Spud Shed isn't being spent in their stores. That seems to be what they say that about literally any store selling a product found on their shelves.
