U.S. Space Force to test laser communications on a GPS satellite

So wait, the article said that it could possibly help regular people. Would that be through them knowing where the satellite is more precisely and therefore being able to upload more precise data and therefore make the data that you pull from the satellite more precise as well. Otherwise, I don't see how.
