Yes, but mostly it's just greed. They'd gladly reintroduce slavery if they could get away with it.

I agree. I don't think there some deeper evil or complicated agenda at play here, it's just the same standard boring greed that has been ruining humanity since the beginning. The worst of us will always take and take and take all they can unless the rest of us force them to share.
