For Agitprop purposes, I’m asking comrades to help aggregate any and all effortpost responses, critiques, or general thoughts that you have seen or written pertaining to yesterday’s U.S. election that you think have standalone value for discussion either online or IRL.
I made a post for that purpose here, and ideally it can be used not only for general discussion, but as a reference for well thought out responses in discussions about the election to save all of us some brainpower.
No shitposts please, as we’d like to highlight some comrades’ actual effort in constructing responses or analysis, but humor is 100% welcome to help make your point!
My final take on the election: We will be in the same country, in the same basic decline, arming the same genocide. The captain's hat can change heads, but it's the same sinking ship.
I think Kamala will win. If she doesn't, I'm going to rip on democrats super hard and pretend it was my doing, obviously, but when someone described her as representing the "Starmer-ization" of American politics that kind of clicked with me. Executing increasingly fascist policies with a liberal veneer seems preferable to capitalists compared to a more explicitly racialized and inwardly violent fascism.
I think blue facism gives them the dual advantage of pacifying the "soft-left" (small-L liberals, "progressives", SuccDumms -- a huge chunk of the politically active non-chuds) while pissing off the chuds so they swing extra hard to the right when they next come to power, which will in turn be normalized by the democrats as they perpetually "chase the dragon" of moderate republican voters and increasingly adopt right-wing framing of issues.
I think this allows the capitalists to create an environment increasingly hostile towards leftism, but without rocking the boat enough to trigger a meaningful antifascist backlash. Basically capitalism's own "boil the frog" approach.

Now we get NOTHING, not a promise for climate change action, or healthcare reform, or the promise to do less genocide and war. I see a lot of people here saying they dread getting blamed for Kamala losing, but isn't that the whole point? Isn't that what we wanna do anyway? Yeah, she lost our vote by supporting genocide and it sure looks like those votes would've come in handy. If it's actually the left's fault she loses, that just means we're the ones they needed to listen to. Take it in stride.
If anything, the worst outcome here is that they conclude that moderate Republicans didn't vote for Kamala in enough numbers so the next time they should try going farther to the right. Many of y'all would actually rather see the blame get put on those people without seeing that the "blame" in this situation is actually a positive thing to get, because it gives you the stage to make demands if they want your vote next time around. Now's probably the time to preempt that and say that genocide is why she didn't get our votes and our votes could've swung it in her favor.

Every so often I find myself thinking back and juxtaposing my current view of US electoral politics to how I felt on the day of the 2020 Nevada caucus. What a fucking radicalizing experience the 2020 primary was, and it becomes more and more radicalizing the longer time goes on and reveals to us none of it ever mattered.
Libs are so fucking entitled. It’s the tritest of observations at this point, but I have to make it clear, I don’t think they understand the state of play here. If you take off the third parties I write them in. If you take out write-ins I drop in a voided ballot. If you chain me to a chair until I fill out a bubble I’m hobbling forward until I can eat the fucking ballot right off the desk. If you put a gun to my head I might do it but you’ll have to keep putting that gun next to my cranium every four years and eventually I’ll just take the damn bullet if this is going to be the eternity. My position is clear and I am unreceptive to haggling. You have to play around me. I am not moving. What are you going to do about it? Get fucking real. Stop metagaming and play the damn game.
The midseason finale where Trump got shot and Biden dropped out was great, but everything since then has just been table-setting and I'm not sure the writers are going to be able to stick the landing. Kinda wish they'd just cancel the show already.

I felt like our secret shared hope was that liberals would somehow rediscover their affection for organizing, protesting, canvassing for causes, but AOC encapsulated it in her video about #resistance being ceremonial and performative bullshit.

How I feel about it seems to be completely dependent upon the last person I talked to. After Kamala announced her candidacy I was going hard on my anti-kkkopmala shit since the libs were being so completely insufferable. Now that things have calmed down a bit and I’ve gone back to my normal state of having to deal with chuds constantly, I’m more inclined to hate Trump more since I would just relish the chance to see these people eat shit a second time. Bonus would be seeing Elon’s meltdown in real time. Lucky for me it’s pretty much 50-50 and could go either way!
I'm glad to see PSL, the Green Party, and Cornel West are all collaborating. I don't think I've seen major third-party campaigns explicitly support each other like this in the past. Obviously it won't change the outcome of the election at all, but for people like me, where I had to vote for Stein since Claudia and Karina (as well as Cornel West) got removed from the ballot in Georgia, it's helpful to see there's at least a similarly-aligned option

I don’t know if we can pin it all on Gaza, but I do think the only conclusion anyone will be able to come to is campaigning to the right of Biden was terrible.
Consider the fact that from 1980-2016 (the era of neoliberalism), every president other than Bush Sr was a two-term president (and Bush Sr really was just Reagan’s third term). Then from 2016 on not only do we have single-term presidents, but we are switching parties each time.

I'm genuinely wondering a bit if pollsters are so terrified of losing their legitimacy any further that they're decided to just weigh the polls to roughly 50/50. Like they do have to do some math to try to guess what demographics are less likely to answer polls or whatever but after 2016 and 2020 the process probably looks insane.

CNN released its first glimpse of the 2024 election results a little after 5 p.m. ET Tuesday. Exit polling is expected to shift throughout the night as more responses are collected.
In the poll, 43 percent of voters said they are "dissatisfied" with "the way things are going in the United States." Another 29 percent said they feel "angry."
You'd think after 236 years of pointless voting, everyone would have learned their lesson.

I vooted. Scratched one in for Claudia and a couple Greens for House/Senate. Wait was longer than usual. I think they combined a couple extra precincts into this polling place. Took about 25 minutes in total, but the line was probably twice as long when I left vs. when I got there.
Stopped at the liquor store on the way home, and as I was leaving I passed the cashier in line. Atmosphere was rather mellow. Lots of people brought their kids. From the vibes, you could hardly tell this is the last election in history.
