I’ve seriously shaved off an hour or two on average of screen time on my phone since I left Reddit. Now I keep dead scrolling to a minimum. Feels positively exquisite.
Only time I go back is when I'm searching for something and cannot find what I'm looking for elsewhere. Despite leaving and deleting my account, I still find myself having to go back due to the inferiority of other resources and it sucks.
Thankfully I have never had to go to their actual website or the old(dot)reddit website either because I can still get access through northboots' libreddit instance.
I genuinely feel better because of it. If I really try I can scroll for hours, but I find that I'm using my phone less because I can get caught up on my feed for the day by scrolling for a few minutes
I went back yesterday to check out the NFL power rankings. They never did a week 0, and they've yet to fill probably a third of their rankers. I'm just going to use the ESPN power rankings from now on.
Only reason i use Reddit now is the panel show subreddit, I check in about once a week to see task master news.
Hopefully the British tv Lemmy's will pick up here.
I've just returned to reddit so I no longer feel superior, but at least I have something to read. Also I dislike this meme because it shows that Lemmy is only for people that hate reddit and noone else. Just look at upvotes for memes and articles that bashes reddit. C'mon dudes, we're better than that.
I hate to admit it, but the only thing I've been to reddit for is loading the dadjokes subreddit daily, because there's not enough engagement on the lemmy one to get a good joke for my daily standup meeting.
Other than that, been off it from browsing entirely
I've used reddit only when Google landed me there basically. I read my inbox (if you Google Highlander sucks or something like that you'll find my 5 year old thread) but I'm not participating.
Everytime I think about Lemmy and how it will just become Reddit: bland, informative, but otherwise familiar and nothing new... I find more drama, more discussion that fuels change and activism and correcting of mistakes. We really are trying.
Is it that long?! I make excursions here then go away. I scroll nytimes and Google news headlines, about to click for the comments then stop when I realize there are none, and I realize the story matters not a bunch of bullshit chatter. Otherwise I'm not really was l reading the news.
