Links to communities try to open users

Full URL links to communities appear to open fine - even if the instance isn't aware of that community (hurray! thank you for this, it's ace!)
However, links with exclamation marks seem to try to open a user.

I'm going to try putting one in here, but I'm posting from kbin so it might go a bit weird or not exhibit the same problem.

  • Ok, that link worked 😕

I've seen it often when the exclamation mark doesn't get highlighted and it tries to open as a user.

    Try again

    • Ah, that worked. "API error: couldn't find object" The exclamation mark didn't get highlighted. It didn't appear to try to open as a user though. Maybe this is a slightly different problem, caused by that link being a Kbin magazine - and it's trying to open it as /c/ instead of /m/ ?

  • It seems like the link you provided works just Like intended, altho I definerly have seen that bug. I think it was at a link sth like this one (links with ! and @):
    !ich_iel@feddit.de

    • I think Kbin converted it to a full link! Should have created this thread with Lemmy really (btw, Chris/floppy in this thread is also me)

    • Yes, that does it - could not find a user with username ich_iel

  • Yeah I noticed the same thing. I could be wrong, but I thought this used to work in a previous version.
