Why was this typed on a typewriter?
Created in a type-matrix printer. Probably because the insurance company's deal with the post office was closed in the 1980s, and the letter-making equipment is the same since then.

Not quite the same thing as a dot matrix printer, but thinking about it just made me slightly nostalgic for fanfold paper anyway.
I do miss being able to tear off the perforated pin feed holes

I fondly remember ripping off the perforated sides (apparently called tractor feeds).
Because apart from banks and governments, insurance companies have the most technical neglect possible.
