Vaporents
- My first attempt at AVB "firecrackers"
I can't sleep and have heard AVB can used in edibles, so let's fucking go.
Its the middle of the night so I'm looking for quick & low effort. I've got peanut butter here and I've never had firecrackers, so that sounds promising. I have some Nutty Bars here too, so let's use those.
I have no clue on potency so I'm just using what looks like a good amount - 0.4g of AVB to 2 spoonfuls of peanut butter
Oh Glob what have I done
Ok it doesn't look so bad once it's mixed up, but this is prob twice the volume I will need
After cracking open the Nutty Bars and spreading a thick-ish layer of greenut butter, I still have some left over. Whatever maybe I'll eat it later.
The chocolate is melty and the greenut butter is a little runnier than I'd like, so after reassembling the Nutty Bars, it's into the mini-fridge for a chill.
They should be just about ready to eat now - wish me luck! 👨🚀
- I present to you: the cutest little water pipe you have ever seen
It's called the "Pipsqueak", and I love it. I wanted a water piece that was very small, but I didn't want to buy one of those inline hydrotubes that are often proprietary to a specific device and sometimes spill water into your vape.
So this is a perfect solution to that. It's simpler, easier to clean. Basically just a much smaller version of a traditional bong. Sneaky Pete sells one.
- Just noticed old.beyondcombuston.net was down
Will fix that once I get back from the colo. The docker container wants a reboot for whatever reason, and there's some updates to that front-end pending.
- XVape Mambo pics
Combusted on the first bowl w/o capsule, so I need to clean it and keep using it for a bit to give good feedback on this thing. In the meantime, here's an unboxing and a couple pics.
Posting multiple pics, let alone videos here sucks. I'm going over to put the 2nd server in the colo this afternoon and hopefully fix that.
- Is the Tinymight 2 right for me?
Hi, folks. I'm in the market for my first dry herb vape. In the past, my consumption preference has always been combusted flower in a glass bowl, but I'm a heavy enough user that the regular smoking is starting to get to me. I find edibles too unpredictable and I worry that concentrates will just shoot my tolerance to the moon (based on experience with cartridges.) This led me to consider dry herb vaping.
My wife bought an XMAX V3 (POTV edition) a while back, but hasn't been using it regularly, so I borrowed it this week to see how I liked the experience. With some practice, I've been able to really enjoy using it and I'm now I'm sold on vaping and ready to make the switch away from combustion.
After a few days of research, I'm really leaning towards the Tinymight 2 for myself, but with its price, I'm hesitating. So I'm here in the hopes that someone will either push me off the cliff into vaping bliss or pull me back and push me towards a more reasonably priced alternative.
My requirements and things I like about the TM2:
Must be portable, but not necessarily in a pocketable or stealthy way. I don't plan to just carry it around when I'm out and about, but I'd like to be able to quickly grab it to use around the house or take it to a friend's place.
Removable batteries. I want the ability to just swap batteries and use an external charger instead of needing to plug the device in.
Power. While I am able to get good hits from the V3, it involves a long draw, steadily increasing in strength, while covering one set of air holes entirely and feathering a finger over the other set. Even then, it takes several hits to get me where I want to be. I love the idea of just taking a big rip or two and being good. I'm not really after a "session" experience most of the time.
Flexibility in use. This might just go hand-in-hand with being a portable device, but I like how easy it is to change your experience just by changing stems, adding a bong, etc. I'd like to completely switch to vaping and I think having those options will help.
Reliability/repairability. While I'm new to dry herb vaping, I have been vaping nicotine for over a decade, so I'm broadly familiar with similar devices. I really like what I've read about Tinymight 2 in this regard. I even saw the guy say that if the threads on the battery compartment strip (very common in my experience with nicotine vapes,) he'll just send out a new top piece with instructions on how to replace it yourself if you don't want to ship your device in for repair. That is very attractive to me, especially considering the price of the device.
Ease of use. I don't mind an initial learning curve at all, but once I've figured the device out, I don't want to continue fiddling with it. I'm not interested in anything requiring an external heat source for this reason. I appreciate that this is a fun hobby for some, but I just want to dial in the settings I like, push a button, and get high, not build a mad science lab on my desk.
So with all those considerations, is the TM2 the device for me?
- Hellll yeah! Brand new OG Mighty just arrived
Soooo stoked.
Now I can setup an RMA for the USB C on the other one being janked up.
- XVape Fyra, anyone has experience with it? What do you think about it?fuckcombustion.com XVAPE Fyra Dabstar Edition
XVAPE has released the Fyra, a new tri-use vape, concentrate, dry herb(convection), and oil cart, https://player.vimeo.com/video/799677038?h=cfee69a92a I have only had the unit a few days for testing but so far so good, I have been using herb directly in the oven or in the supplied...
Looks like topgreen did it again, looks really cool and versatile, and for $80! people will run it as their out and about device easily, although the glass stem can be a double edge sword. The heater is detachable so it's a pro and a con, imagine stoners switch between mods and lose the heater lol
- The table is sticky as hell, but I can vape here…
🙏🏼 love this place. Also have to give it up for the boring, yet effective, and efficient workhorse of the vape world; the Mighty.
- VAS hit hard today
To prep for my bike trip, and have some new shit to post about here along the way, I let VAS get me a little today. It'll give me another thing to make videos/pics of too.
- XVape Mambo
- XVape Starry v4
- Flowerpot Tomcat Head to go w/ the DeWalt battery controller
- Mighty with DC barrel plug (It looks like I might have bought their last one)
Pretty excited to try the Mambo! It looks like a neat little entry level vape.
The Tomcat head seems interesting/weight saving if just using herb but wanting to change up bowl style while traveling.
Mighty will let me send my USB C + Mighty in for service, then I'll have two when it's fixed mwahaha.
Then finally the Starry v4 cause the v3 was pretty dope imo, and I was already ordering the Mambo from XVape so fuck it.
- mlmym - old.reddit-ish front end for Lemmy servers (including this one)
https://old.beyondcombustion.net/c/vaporents exists as of yesterday. (expect it to be intermittent for now)
I get a 400 error when signing in, the primary instance is rejecting the "old" one's hostname. That'll get sorted out though.
- Finally got my ESP32-based e-nail working
Finally got my ESPHome based e-nail up and running. This solution is fully integrated with Home Assistant, allows control via MQTT, built-in web interface, or on the device itself using the screen and rotary encoder. Next steps are building out settings menus on the screen itself and working through a few electrical gremlins with erroneous ground fault errors from the MAX31855 at higher temperatures
- Sticky Brick Sorority / Brethren Unite!
Not to exclude Theydies & Gentlethem, but couldn't resist the alliteration.
Sticky Brick Jr in Zebrawood.
What a beast.
- Anvil Amp-up - for those throat-ripping hits
I have to say, I don't often hit the Anvil native with the stock stem, but if you need a throat-tickle like you used to get in the combustion days, look no further...
- Good morning Vaporents! ☕️🥦😸☁️
May your day also be blessed with coffee, cannabis, cat hair & clouds ✌️
- Who wants to get lifted?
Hey frients! In the interest of sparking discussion, Imma come right out with it:
Glass is better with no water in it [for vaping].
Fight me.
JK, we are all about peace and love here (it's a cannabis community after all)… but tell me why I'm wrong… I dare ya
Do you use a water piece? Ice/cold water/warm water? Justify, defend, explain!
Do you drink alcohol [at the same time as vaping]? What's your favourite beverage to accompany a sesh with the Devil's Lettuce?
- Where my Vapman Mans at?
And the Vapman Womans, and Vapman Enbies et al
Where's the love?? So lo-tech it makes the Dyna look space-age, and so flavoursome it makes the Mighty cry.
Give it up for the Vapman!
- Vape Storage Solutions - how do you keep your shit organised?
So I may have a bit of VAS...
I actually have two RYOT safecases, and three Pelican cases in various sizes.
Love the Trekpak system, Ive got a bunch of spare pins and dividers so can reconfigure if required.
I have young kids, so lockable and smell-proof is pretty critical.
How do you all keep your shit stored and safe?

- Flying with herb vapes
Figured I'd start a thread on flying with cannabis and vaporizers as I try to decide what device I'm packing this trip...
Here's a few things I've been doing for domestic flights in the US.
- Be cool. - Literally nobody gives a shit if it's a personal amount.
- Don't bring a shit ton of cannabis. - Just bring a personal amount for the trip, maybe figure out something at your destination. Don't strap a pound of Purple Urkel Cheetah-piss Haze to your gooch and expect to not get caught.
- Clean your devices. - At a minimum, you probably needed to clean them. But this helps reduce smell and depending on what it is can make it easier to play off as something different.
- TSA Doesn't Care - It's not their job. They go through my bag each trip. Never an issue.
- I was using a Ryot Safe Case and I love it for organization and stuff. Its really nice to toss in a backpack and keep things more protected. I've also just tossed my mighty and a half oz on top of my clothes at home just to open my luggage upon arrival to find one of those TSA inspection sheets next to it, so its not really to hide anything in that case.
YMMV and some states like Texas DO care about you flying in with Cannabis products. Do your own research and asses what you deem as acceptable risk before flying with cannabis.
Anyone else have any experiences or tips? International folks?
- wiki migration
The "bones" are getting there.
Way easier to make new pages then GitHub.
- Go to a URL, if it's not there click "New Page".
- Then type/paste stuff into it, click save.
- BOOM a new page is born to help a future "vape curious" individual try a different method of consumption.
- I don't want to talk to bots.
Yesterday, I answered to some buddy about mixing THC / CBD.
Today, I came back to see if there was any interaction with other people, and only then noticed the "crossposted from r/vaporents" thing.
Damn I feel awful. Not only did I take some of my personal tome to try and help some fellow vaporents, but also this person will never even know I tried to help.
I perfectly understand that we need some content here to attract new people / former redditors, but I do no wish this place to be a ghost town.
What do you think ?
- Why do I still see (not imported) posts as NSFW?
Let's break that reddit habit, we all know what we do around here lol
- btw, i don't want to mod anything lol. Here's what's the general thought.
In an ideal world
Community members volunteer to moderate whatever, I was going to do a form type thing with LimeSurvey because it's a pretty good tool for an application process. That might be excessive tho, anyone can start a community and if one exists from the bot that was post scraping; make a post/comment in it that you want it and poof we'll get it done.
I want to maintain the infrastructure/script/automate, vape herbs, do dabs, wikifi Wiki things, and figured I'd post vape videos w/the GoPro 11 I picked up for eBike shit for fun too.
*actual eBike stuff I'm keeping separate. However, I am starting what will be a ~400 mile trip on the OTET in 30 days; and the farthest the bike i'm taking has been in a single ride so far was ~30 miles. I will be posting videos of me getting high along the way in here with that DeWalt rig and whatever else I stash in my cargo bike bags.
Authentik helps setup admin delegation with LDAP/SSO, so if someone wants to jump into some backend infra lmk and we'll setup something.
This place is for the community. The more people that help maintain this garden for the general good and the less influence I have over the "social" aspect of this, the better IMO.
----
My minimal guidelines would be
- Be chill, this is a cannabis forum after all.
- Post links, pics, vids talking about where your fav vape/bong/glass/pipe was from.
- Don't sell anything consumable on here. No sales of herb, extract, carts, pens, edibles, drinks, tintcures, anything that's a consumable product.
- DEVICES and ACCESSORIES like a Mighty, Tinymight, some custom glass for a Carta or PuffCo Peak, 510 Mods, log vapes, DIY/One off vapes/pipes/bags/stems/dab tools/Etsy type shit that Etsy bans. That stuff is fine. AT YOUR OWN RISK. And that needs it's own channel/community(communities) if people are interested in an exchange.
- Provide citations/sources for posts/comments where needed.
- Openly discuss safety of equipment/devices and cannabis products.
- Be mindful of what you post on here. The point is to have the whole server indexed by Google and other search providers and keep the space alive/history documented/growing in the future. (AKA Share Knowledge / Share the vibes. / Don't get me arrested plz. )
-----
I was messing with configuring the OAuth plugin for Discourse to open that up before doing redarc or the database server work for the Vaporents archives. The postgresql w/Lemmy and other dockers needs pointed outside of their containers too and it made sense to do as much of that DB work at one time as possible.
In the meantime (until there's moderators) lol, if there's an issue w/something email support@beyondcombustion.net or send myself or one of the couple mods we do have ( @XpeeN@sopuli.xyz, @Loki, and @imaqtpie@sh.itjust.works ) so far a DM here (or on another subdomain) and we'll help out.

Shaping the Future of Vaporents: Domain Name Feedback Survey - Ends 7/21/23 - 1PM EST
A couple folks have seen this prior to the physical migration of the servers over to a local colocation data center with Cera.net. However, we only had ~20-30 subscribers at that point and received 8 responses (1-2 of them were me testing). Now we've got a couple more folks follwing the community from other servers, and the link here has been put back up on Reddit; so I've re-opened the survey for it's "actual" 7 day run.
Note: ChatGPT did the most of the typing after I dictated some goals to it with the phone app speech-to-text. If it sounds like a robot, it half-is and I didn't take much time to soften the text while building the survey logic.
_____
We invite you to participate in this important survey to help shape the future of the Vaporents community. Your feedback is crucial as we build another platform away from Reddit to establish a new home that better serves our needs. By providing your input, you will have a direct impact on decisions regarding the domain name for the new platform. We value your opinion and appreciate your time in providing your feedback.
> Dear /r/Vaporents Community, > > We are reaching out to you, the 220,000+ subscribers of the Vaporents subreddit, to gather your valuable feedback regarding an important decision for our community. As you know, we are considering transitioning away from Reddit to establish a new home that provides us with a fresh identity and various advantages. One of the primary reasons behind this transition is to create a legal buffer that ensures our community can operate freely. By changing our domain name and platform, we can separate ourselves from any potential legal concerns associated with Reddit, granting us greater autonomy and peace of mind. Furthermore, the move to a new platform will allow us to create a community completely separate from Reddit, enabling our makers, vendors, and users to post links, share pictures, and freely discuss products without constraints in a closed environment. This freedom from censorship will ensure our community can thrive and openly engage in discussions without worrying about their links being removed or their voices being silenced. Moreover, the over-censorship of product links and discussions on Reddit has significantly impacted the visibility and reach of merchants, retailers, and makers within our community impacting their own site traffic and ability to continue operating in this space. By transitioning to a new and open platform, we can reduce these limitations, allowing merchants to regain their footprint and visibility within Google search results. This change is vital in supporting our community's merchants and ensuring a vibrant marketplace for everyone. Additionally, transitioning away from Reddit will help us direct and prevent any additional traffic or ad revenue from flowing to the Reddit platform. This ensures that our community's activities and interactions are no longer contributing to their revenue streams. It is of utmost importance that we continue to openly discuss these products, where to purchase them, raise potential health conserns, and share our experiences without restrictions. By doing so, we can feed this information into search results, enabling individuals new to this space or seeking alternatives to combustion to find the information they need to make informed choices. Your feedback in this survey will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our community. We appreciate your participation and value your insights as we embark on this exciting transition to a new platform. > > Thank you for being a part of Vaporents, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts! > ##### Shaping the Future of Vaporents: Domain Name Feedback Survey - Ends 7/21/23 - 1PM EST > Sincerely, > > @ProfessionalHandJob@lemmy.beyondcombustion.net >
- New OG Mighty?
The one I found wasn't in stock and was canceled. Probably from them being so discounted lol. But, it sounds like the inventory finally ran out at S&B and whatever's left is all that's going to be in the retail channel.
Anyone got a lead on one? 🙃
If you were a fan of the DC plug over the USB C that's sad news.
- Now to pick what head to put on this...www.cannabishardware.com CH Portable Battery Powered and 12v Enail Controller
A Cannabis Hardware first! The brand new Portable Battery Powered Enail is here! This unit is based on a 12 volt controller, we have attached a 3D printed "adapter" so that may be powered by a 12v battery OR a 12v power source, like the one found in most vehicles. This unit has a three-way swi...
gotta love being able to post links and know they won't be taken down.
This drill battery enail thing from CH looked too weird to not have, so I ordered one when they were recently posted and thought it would be cool to use while traveling, camping, or after biking to a park/whatever.
Now I have to figure out what to put on the coil.... I have a B1, B2, and I think a B-zero around here somewhere..... so any other suggestions on a durable option as a portable ball vape head?
I could take apart something I have, but that's no fun. :-)
