PlayStation 3 Hacks and Homebrew
- Question about which CFW to use?
I got down which release version but I don't know what the difference is between [noBD] and [OC].
It sounds like I want the [OC] one cause I know OC as overclock but I doubt it lol.
Am I able to install one then install another at a different time?
- Could someone explain to me how PS3 games are able to be decrypted?
PS3Dec is a ISO encryptor/decryptor for PS3 disc images I found when looking for a JB folder to ISO package for Linux. I am curious how it works.
Tutorials I found online say you require a dkey and a post on PSX-Place mentions
> The disk key is stored on the game disk and read by the PS3 when the game starts, without this key it is not possible to decrypt the game data. If the PS3 cannot decrypt the data correctly you will see the 80010017 error just after the game starts.
Are these keys acquired by running the game on the PS3 and somehow intercepting them?
If anyone could explain how it works or link me to a video or forum that does I'd appreciate it. All I have really been able to find are tutorials on how to do it.
Even just knowing how game ripping works with other consoles would be neat. I imagine ripping and decrypting WiiU games works in a similar way.
- nopaystation and final fantasy xiii
I wanted to download it but I'm very confused. It's says it's only 1.78GB but there's just no way. And xiii-2 is normal at 13.87GB. So I searched it on the site but it says both those games are missing. What's happening here?
Nvm I'm fuckin dyslexic, it says viii

Hi! I'm the mod over on https://lemmy.ml/c/ps5
We are currently afflicted with the remote moderator bug, meaning that you'll get a "404 community not found" message.
Here is a link to the GitHub issue: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3075
We are still accessible at https://lemmy.ml/c/ps5@lemmy.ml
When the new backend update rolls out it should be fixed. Until then we unfortunately don't show up on browse.feddit.de or lemmyverse.net
I've been working really hard to build a great community over there and a little bug like this just knee capped our discoverability. The only thing I can think of doing is posting this on other Playstation communitie to spread the word.
