- Been a great bike, but now it’s time for an upgrade
After 50 pounds, 2k miles, and a countless smiles it’s time to upgrade from my Orbea Occam.
It’s been great but looking forward to what’s in the mail!
Anyone else looking forward to an upgrade?
- So what if it’s hot? Get out and ride !
Middle of the summer in PHX means you get the trails to yourself 🤘

Distance 5.52 mi | Time 1:04:33 | Speed 5.1 mph | Elevation 185 ft
Since the rain schedule changed to Saturday I made it around one more time this week. Beat my moving time PR of 53:54 by 10 seconds for a new PR. I guess its progress even if it is only 10 seconds.

Description says it all. 3 years ago I hadn't hit a gap jump bigger than a bike length.

Between the rain and wildfire smoke its been about three weeks since I've been able to hit an MTB trail.
- Hit the trails this weekend and found a campsite of abandoned things
Spent a beautiful morning out on my Stache and enjoyed exploring. Found this fire pit that appears to have been made out of abandoned junk scavenged from the trail system.
- Squeezed a ride in finally after a few weeks of no riding at all
Exploring on the bike is one of my favourite feelings. Seeing what’s behind a bend, up that hill, beyond that forest… it’s a never ending adventure.
Anyway rode a path I’ve ridden dozen of times and decided to finally follow a really nasty (as in overgrown) path I’ve never been down before. Literally down, as it as steep decent over loose gravel.
Man was it worth it. The path follows one of the local rivers and is actually a very decent and clean place to ride.
Can’t wait to explore even further
- Storage for bottle cage mounts?
I bought a new mountain bike recently, and it has three sets of bottle cage mounts. But there's no way I could actually get two bottles inside the front triangle, and the third set is on the bottom of the down tube where I don't think I trust a bottle to stay anyway. So I have one bottle on the top of the down tube, but the other two mounts are currently unused.
I was using a Dakine Gripper on my old bike, but it never stayed in place, so I was hoping to find something like that that would mount directly to the bottle cage mounts. But I can't seem to find anything like this.
Does anything like this exist? What do you do with extra bottle cage mounts?
- Ft Collins Trail Suggestions
I'll be visiting ft Collins in early August and renting a bike. What are the best trails to check out around town. I'll be working until about 5 PM so the trails need to be reasonably close to the city and 2 to 3 hours in length so I can make it back before dark. I expect to have 3 to 4 evenings available.
I'm an intermediate rider. I will likely be renting a Ripley or Ripmo. Any suggestions on what trails to check out (or where/what bike to rent) are appreciated.

- My bike is in the shop getting the suspension serviced.
Now what the heck am I supposed to do? Walk?
- Finally nailed down the line I've been after for a couple years!youtube.com Slope baybeee!
When I first saw somebody ride this line, I never envisioned I would be able to do it myself. I was barely confident enough to hit small gaps two years ago, ...
I never thought I would do this run, but this past weekend I finally managed to break through the mental barrier and execute. I cannot describe how ecstatic I was when I got on the on-off.

Track looks to be running really well this year compared to last year's sludgy mess. Seems like we won't see the carnage on the step down this year.
- Revalation vs Pike
Does anyone actually notice a difference in stiffness between the revalation and the pike in rockshox lineup?
- Process 134
Becoming convinced that this might become my primary bike. Super snappy and fun to ride. Right now the fork is undergunned and the brakes may be too :)
