  • Buy Canadian isn't always an option. But buying non-American almost always is. And since a huge part of the protest at this time is about putting the US in the penalty box, it's an acceptable tradeoff.

  • Saying cut starlink out is fine and all but there are lots of places and communities without any decent broadband options at all (in Canada and beyond).

    You may be unaware, but Telstat will have their LEO constellation and subsequent high speed satellite internet up and running by 2027. A Canadian solution to a Canadian problem.

  • I have two superpowers:

    Mosquitoes don't find me delicious. When everyone else is getting hammered, they generally leave me alone. When I do get bit, the bites barely swell and they don't usually itch.

    Rock star parking- Anywhere I go, I always check out immediately in front of the place I need to be. There's almost always an empty spot, and if there isn't there's someone just leaving that I pull into. I dunno how that helps me fight crime, but it sure would be useful if I were a bank heist getaway driver.

  • While not officially asylum seekers, both Canada and the EU have taken steps to recruit in-demand Americans wishing to leave. BC is overtly wooing US health care workers, Canada as a whole is courting scientists and researchers, and France has made statements welcoming researchers as well.

  • I remember in the 80s several National Lampoon covers that featured this concept. One had a tagline with something like "Welcome to America, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Honda Motor Company" or something like that. And then there is the slightly racist one in this image:

  • Genius

    Jump
  • Damn, I’ve heard jokes about quebecios being snobby with their French but that seems excessive

    It's not snobby. From an anglo perspective, here's how it plays out in reality:

    WAITER: Qu'est-ce que vous voudrais? ME: Huh? WAITER: What would you like? ME: {proceeds to order}

    ...And life goes on.

  • Trans activists are going about this all wrong. Instead of sending someone like Marcy in to violate the law, they need to do this:

    Send in the biggest, burliest, hairiest ftm trans dudes into busy ladies rooms, the room that the state insists he must now legally use. And record the reaction of the women and girls leaving for broadcast media. Because by focussing on mtf trans in ladies rooms, I really feel the dipshits that make these laws haven't thought their cunning plans through very fully.
