Kinda. There was this guy who was somehow related to the owner of the company. He got a new laptop, and wanted me to install some stuff on it.

At the time, one tech always had to be in the call queue, and that tech was me. I told him, "hey. I'm stuck in queue and I'm on a call. You can either bring me your laptop so I can install it when I'm done, you can wait until I can get out of queue, or you can put in a ticket and maybe someone can remote in and take care of it."

He went and told my boss's boss that I wouldn't install his shit unless he put in a ticket (a thing we were explicitly not allowed to say).

Grand boss calls me in, let's dude tell his side of the story, then asks if it was true. My vision goes red for the first time since middle school, and I said, "absolutely not," and recounted what actually happened. He says, thank you, you're dismissed.

I go outside and smoke half a pack of cigarettes before my boss's boss comes outside and says, "thanks, man. I was looking for rope to hang that asshole with. You're good."

This is one of my favorite things the Internet has ever produced.

Yup, it is. Social engineering is by far the most effective means of gaining unlawful access to any system.

This is just shifting addictions to another unhealthy parasocial relationship.

Someone with this type of issue needs to shift their focus to something different than idolizing a person, fictional or not.

Or anything involving the outside world. Nature walks, bird watching, geocaching, etc. Doesn't need to be anything competitive or strenuous.

There are actual good employers out there. My last one gave me a sizeable raise out of nowhere because I had been working my ass off on a project.

But the only reason I was working my ass off was because they were good employers. They operated like a startup despite being in business since the 80s.

Then Musk fucked everything up.

But even before that, at the beginning of my IT career I went from a customer service agent to senior systems engineer in 5 years because I worked hard and took on projects that no one wanted to do.

The key is knowing when to put in the work and when to put in just enough to keep your job.

The whole reason he ran for president is because Obama made fun of him at the White House correspondents dinner.

Yeah, he doesn't have the same loyalty from the cult that Trump does. No one is afraid of him.

America has never been a melting pot. Every new group of immigrants to this country have been horribly abused and hate crimed. Not just brown people either.
