You won't be able subscribe or see the posts of communities there and you also won't see the comments left by users from those instances on any post. I like .zip because it doesn't defederate much but instead applies a "default blocklist" for new accounts, which are removable. However, as the other commenter mentioned, .zip is not accessible in the UK due to their ridiculous online liability laws.

Yeah I agree, I didn't know that was an option but it's a fine compromise. I don't usually like "default enabled", opt-outs, though when Facebook or Microsoft do it they're not transparent like this. Usually the vast majority of software users never even review the default settings but Lemmy might be different due to its user base
If your display settings don't show the full username, there's no way to tell really. Voyager and Alexandrite show then by default. I think people just like to root for teams inherently and the interinstance drama is kind of fun. If you're on Lemmy a lot you start to recognize people and their main instance, there really aren't that many of us.

Welcome everyone! .zip has an amazing admin team and excellent monthly updates. I landed here pretty fast after leaving R and have never felt any reason to set up an account anywhere else. If you like it after a few months, you should donate - I imagine a few hundred more active users might be some increase to resource needs.
Welcome to Lemmy.zip
I had the same reaction. .zip had some votes on this in the past and didn't defed from HB at that time so I guess this is a later compromise? My opinion is that a "disable to unblock" option is much closer to defederation than not. .ee wasn't defederated from you either, right?
Welcome to Lemmy.zip
I was surprised to see that too, as i don't remember that from our previous defed discussions. Maybe I missed it. Since they're just default, must not have been implemented when out accounts were created
Thank you! Can't believe it's nearly been two years already
I agree with silverchase that Draftsim and mock drafts are good practice. Then just really get in the reps with one draft format you like. Every draft format is similar enough that perfecting one will pay off when you try another.
Final Fantasy draft guides are about to come out so if you like the look of the set it seems as good to start there as anywhere.
Two resources I like for drafting content are Nizzahon (YouTube) and Lords of Limited (Podcast, YouTube). Glhf!
Damn, that really sucks. Last season was good and it was set up to continue at that quality. With such an ensemble cast it seems impossible that they could continue with another studio even if it worked with the IP rights
I just avoid the word entirely at work. 'Twice a week' and 'twice a month' take the same amount of time to say. Even 'every two weeks' is barely longer.

This is clearly vitally critical to how we're supposed to interpret the rest of the greentext

I'm a big fan of a few of Ghibli's films but I feel the same way about others. The whimsical and somewhat metaphorical quality of most of them can really lessen their emotional impact imo.
If you're ever interested in trying an animated Japanese film from another studio and writer, I can highly recommend Your Name.
It's not just a population map. It's also a map of the western and eastern blocs. Tennis is pretty bourgeois. East Germany is super defined. Although I find the Czech Republic and the Balearic islands interesting. Lots of British tourists want lots of courts?
I have really enjoyed using FoundryVTT. A one time payment for the software and then you can self-host the server easily. I don't know if that is outside your criteria. If you aren't looking for VTT battle mapping though, it's probably more than you need. I'm still using Discord for voice since that is where my players are at but I want to get away from it too.
Just armor and also can't cast spells. And they changed it to "Armor Training" now, but still proficiency for weapons? And the Martial Weapon Training feat gives you Martial Weapon proficiency? Gah
Yeah, Emirates might use this route. But US airlines would avoid Russia, Ukraine, Iran, and Syria, which forces then to fly much longer and approach over Iraq and across the Gulf.
Me too! With the global tariffs, I expect there to be street protests against Trump to attend in basically every country worldwide this spring and summer.
Each group was started for a specific reason so no, they will stay seperate to try to achieve their specific aims. I think its best to remember that orgs are just made up of people trying their best. Most people involved with one of those orgs are involved with many, and having many isn't a distraction, it's tactical to fight on different playing fields.
Indivisible and 50501 are a little different since they were created to plan protests specifically, so they are kinda like a glue that gets all these interest groups to show up on the exact same day.
Yesterday's protests were organized through many groups working together. 50501 was one of them, as were MoveOn, labor unions like SEIU, Sunrise, DSA, OurRevolution, the Women's March, and many others.
"Hand's Off" was the branding chosen for the day of protest by Indivisible, another large activist group. https://handsoff2025.com/about-1
Late summer maybe?
