  • Your first paragraph calls the rest of Lemmy arrogant and stupid. Next paragraph you say in one sentence that you're "actually a nice bunch", then spend the rest of it criticising and patronising the rest of Lemmy for not being as smart as you.

Then you wonder why people have a problem tolerating you.

  • I tried for 2 years, but with long work hours I didn't have much time to meet new people and since I'd just moved there for work, I didn't know anybody. Cost of living was great and I loved the friendly people and pace of life. I just couldn't handle the loneliness and isolation. I would do it again, but with a better work life balance and a stronger intention to meet people and make new friends.

  • uhh yeah, so anyway, this is good news for Taiwan because they have a MASSIVE country on their doorstep that has been threatening to invade for decades now, and having another powerful country recognise their existence is great because it discourages mainland China from invading.

  • I definitely enjoy my time here more than at reddit.. I wish we were even less like reddit tbh, communities like mildlyinfuriating exist purely to make you get mad, and I honestly don't see a positive side to them.

Reddit is filled with stuff like that, like videos of people fighting, or yelling at each other over petty shit, or stories in AITA of toxic people being toxic in relationships. It gets me down after a while.. yeah I know I shouldn't even go on it, but I'm still addicted fml

  • I'm with Windscribe and as far as I know they're pretty secure?

Yeah I'm doing a mix of torrents and Usenet at the moment, cos I only started learning about usenet a month ago. It's not as complicated as I thought it would be, but it does take a couple of hours to sit down and nut it out. It's definitely not cheaper than a VPN though.

I have been thinking about building a server too, if only for the fun of it. I like learning more about computers. I'd probably just go with Jellyfin though, it seems to have a good reputation plus I'm a big fan of FOSS software.
