Whut. I mean, probably, but not in this thread?
"...the Doctor taught Rose to run"? No wait, that doesn't rhyme. Let me workshop this a little.
Ah, good catch. Thanks!
Tangentially related: I really recommend Richard Dyer's "White" for its inspection of the slippery, invisible default of whiteness.
Edited to add: I got this around the wrong foot, see the reply to this. /edit
Not necessarily, as clearly stated in the linked article:
But sure enough, the toot was followers only and the person that had liked it was not following her Mastodon account. When I took a look at the other persons profile on pixelfed.social, I noticed that the instance was nevertheless claiming the account was following her.
When pixelfed assumes that an account is not locked, it immediately treats a follow attempt as completed. For the server on the other end it looks like a normal follow request. It could be rejected, and pixelfed would still be convinced that a follow relation exists.
If I understand it correctly, it's kind of both. Sounds like Pixelfed didn't follow best practice setting privacy guardrails in follow request approval, and it exacerbates the inherent lack of privacy on the fediverse.
You're right of course, anyone (with the coding chops) could've intentionally set up an instance that does the same for malicious purposes. That should be a wake-up call for anyone who thinks ActivityPub is a great sexting medium.
Nope. It looks like crash testing security in production, or "fuck around and find out" with other people's privacy.
The European public sector could choose any stable Linux distro, with any DE. Now, somebody proposed a branded "EU OS" so you know what the non-techies in charge are going to go for.
Pardon my cynicism, but to me that branding seems opportunist and suspicious in itself. Let the suits at least ask their sysadmins what would be the better setup.
Yeah, people tend to mistake "federated" for "open alternative" 🤷
The title is a bit of a leap, and not really supported in the image. Without any context, you're just posting two columns of job ad jargon 🤷 And the column headings are iffy at best. Being "process-oriented" would be rule bending in some fields, whereas "tactical and persuasive" communication might be completely within expectations in others.
As for the narcissistic element, that's only referenced in your title as (apparently) synonymous with the "rule-bending" column that you say you identify more with 🤔 Sorry, that's the kind of speculation you open up for when you leave interpretation up to a reader.
Is it me or do most of these OT promotional posts come from diggita.com? Time to tighten up the registration criteria (or block lists) perhaps?
Ah yes, men and robots. Famously, the two options in sexual partners available to women.
This is key to a calm timeline on Mastodon (as it was on Twitter): Mute accounts liberally — and mute hashtags as well. There will be a maddening amount of noise, and since there is no algorithm on Mastodon, it's up to yourself to focus in the important stuff.
I had to look up Peter Hoar and, mea culpa, he did that episode of "Last of us"... I think we're in good hands.
Some of the episode titles make me unreasonably curious where this is going. "The well"? Please be a deep reference to The ring, although I know it won't be.
"The story & the engine" sounds like writer's jargon, and could be an interesting metafictional take. But again, probably not. Maybe it's an update on the Land of Fiction from the Troughton/Hines run. That would be lovely, and cause for another Tale from the TARDIS.
"Wish world"/"Reality war" — after last season's less than epic finale I'll reserve judgement, but it does sound cautiously promising!
So basically what Drew DeVault wrote about the other day I guess?
Same with Ghost, but Docker may be a bit too involved for non-techies.
It depends on the app, really. Some will work and some won't: My Danish digital ID crapped out immediately, my Swedish one works fine. That's with all systems go according to the MicroG checklist.
My best guess is that MicroG does work, but some apps will check the bootloader and refuse to open if it's unlocked as mine is?
Have you tried MicroG? https://microg.org/
It spoofs Play services to a lot of apps that (claim they) require it. MicroG even have their own Lineage fork.
The fact that so much training data is scraped without consent makes a lot of the popular LLMs unethical already in their development, yeah. And that in turn makes using the models unethical.
FWIW, you can setup IndieAuth — on its own or as part of the IndieWeb plugin suite for Wordpress. It may not be quite what you're looking for, but it's a step in the right direction?
