  • What gets me is that, according to the gender stereotype, women enjoy the flowery type scents, so you would think that if ladies find that pleasing that men would want to smell that way.

Personally, I like to smell clean and I don't buy soap based on the color of the bottle or whether it says "for men" in it. My shampoo/conditioner has a nice citrus aroma, but more importantly it does a great job on my hair.

  • The normal, comfortable way. If you are a man you have to hike your foot up so that it is resting above the knee on your opposite leg.

Ladies can't do that because you might see up their dress. Because ladies always wear dresses.

  • I live alone and actively wish I could die. I'm not hurting anyone but myself.

I am glad that it's not cool with the younger generations, and that the whole vaping fad kinda died back.

Still though, the amount of self righteousness and lack of empathy from some non smokers really makes me glad that I will never have to hang out with those types of people.

Addiction is a hell of a thing, and when the alternative is worse than quitting, it's extremely difficult to quit.

  • Most likely? Unfortunately most people either don't care about software freedom, don't know about it, are actually scared of it, or just don't have the time or know how to switch. Couple that with the fact that Microsoft and Apple are determined to lock it down and the trend seems clear to me.

Ofc I would Love to be wrong, I just don't have much faith in people knowing or caring about what is in their best interest.

  • I'm almost the exact opposite. Life is literal hell for me right now and while I'm 90% positive that oblivion awaits, there's that 10% that comes from being brainwashed growing up that still scares me.

I wasn't aware of existence before I was born, and I imagine it will be exactly like that after.

Knowing my luck though there will be a God, who is just as big of an asshole as the Bible makes it out to be. Hell will be real and I would definitely go there, because even if I were certain that God was real, if it's the God of the Bible I wouldn't worship it, not in a million years.

  • How is that insane? I keep a tiny trash can with a step open lid next to the toilet specifically for that. The lid and frequently changing the bags prevent it from stinking, plus it uses way less water.

Personally I feel like they have all the benefits of bidets and TP, with none of the drawbacks.

  • Sure, but I think the point is that we have to recognize the mistakes in order to prevent repeating them.

It's not like Harris is ancient like Trump or Biden, and I think a lot of voters are convinced age always equals wisdom, so I don't think they would accept anyone younger than Harris anyway.

  • From the POV of someone who just wants the Genocide to stop, "Burning all Palestinians and tuning Gaza into New Vegas" and "Burning all Palestinians and tuning Gaza into vacation homes for rich Israelis" is functionally equivalent.

That was by no means the only issue I based my vote on, but I also don't think it's unreasonable for someone to conclude that voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil

  • I just looked it up and people are saying you can install the Ubuntu PPA with no issues.

It may not be (probably isn't) the latest release, but that option exists at least. I'm glad I never had to use it. What games have you had to use it for? Do you have an AMD GPU or Nvidia?

I just wanted people to know that not everyone thinks Pop-os is shit. Part of the issues you experienced may have been due to the fact that they are currently hard at work writing their own DE (Cosmic) using Rust and they are waiting on that to be finished before upgrading to the newest LTS release of Ubuntu. We are currently still on 22.04.

If you want all of your software packages to be on the bleeding edge, I wouldn't recommend PopOs. But I definitely would recommend it for someone who just wants a solid distro and doesn't 'have a computer science degree'.

YMMV, but from my personal experience using it for almost a year now it's been rock solid.

Edit: I just realized that my post said "Don't use gamescope" when what I meant to say was "I don't use Gamescope." I wasn't intending on advising people not to use it. My bad.

Edit2: I also forgot that I stopped using "Pop!_Shop" for updates and software search. That was getting really slow. I would advise your partner install the "COSMIC Store" instead, it's way better :)
