Engineer. Got my engineering degree. I'm just good at math and science, literally never studied in my life. Now I'm a homeless unemployed dirtbag that just rock climbs. Where I grew up they had these outdoor lock boxes where everyone had a slot with their own key and then there were a couple larger spots where they could put packages and then put that key in your mail slot. Postal worker just opens the whole front face and loads the mail for like 50 people. They put them at the beggining of the road out so people could stop and check their mail on their way in/out. Seems like a great solution for rural areas.
I'm having a hard time understanding this. I guess I get not being 100% with the clusterfuck of news, but don't think that's a bad thing. If you don't know what they're talking about then just ask them what's happening. Other than that is the only thing you have to talk about IRL are memes?
I try as hard as possible to not let the internet bleed into my real life. Saying or talking about a meme IRL is cringe that I cannot commit. I have plenty of hobbies, interests, knowledgeable experience, etc to be having normal human conversions. And usually so do other people.
Lemmy and YouTube are the only user created content that I view and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. And I feel I should cut down my usage of both. I wouldnt say I'm a privacy freak but do as much as a can with as little effort because 90% of it doesn't take much.
If you're not happy and "just want to enjoy stuff" then go for it, do whatever makes you happy. I think its a pretty inconsequential decision. Only you know what'll make you happy, sometimes you gotta try different things and figure out what the balance is to accomplish that.
They were maintaining the idea that we don't live post scarcity. That there aren't enough homes or food for the current population, so there can't be enough for a large population. The rich will never give up being the elite class and will perpetuate artificial scarcity until they die.
Kinda, for a long time. But for what? I don't think there will be a SHTF, just a slow boil of increasing authoritarianism, growing class inequality, and failing climate. I'd rather build a earthship. But don't have money to do either of those things.
