Looking up the Vilvaladirt, I am guessing it is a group of Let's Players who do a Mystery Science Theater 3,000 take on their gameplay? If so, that would be neat.
It is good to hear what a full DeepSeek can do. I am really looking forward to having a better, localized version in 2030. Thank you for relating your experience, it is helpful. :)
Can the full-size DeepSeek handle dice and numbers? I have been using the distilled 70b of DeepSeek, and it definitely doesn't understand how dice work, nor the ranges I set out in my ruleset. For example, a 1d100 being used to determine character class, with the classes falling into certain parts of the distribution. I did it this way, since some classes are intended to be rarer than others.
I bought WinRAR, for a pretty specific reason: It can handle Japanese locale. The assorted games, patches, manga, and so forth couldn't be handled by 7zip/PeaZip at the time.
Think of it this way: Microsoft can use Copilot down the road to monitor what games and media you have. Considering that the Trump Regime has literally forced the disbanding of military cultural clubs, removal of posters featuring minorities or women, established a DEI watchlist, and so on...as someone who plays a great deal of Japanese games, I wouldn't feel safe. Plus my PC has all of my passwords, documents, and so forth.
Ask yourself this: "Am I safe from persecution?"
Just because you have no interest in politics, it doesn't mean that politics aren't interested in you.
If you expect being in a riot down the line, you might want to get some protective gear. I am thinking a forestry helmet - it has face plates, hardhat, plus earmuffs that you can raise or lower. Bonus points for not being fascist-tacticool style, and you can use it for practical work. While not good when compared to milspec gear, it should be enough to offer mild protection against nonlethal weaponry. I assume military gear would cost more and be tracked.
I would argue that America needs a whole new economic system. A big problem with what we had up to now, is that people are too poor, tired, unable to form communities, and lack the time to do all the things that are needed for a democracy. If you can't afford the price of travel, shelter, food, and losing your job, you can't visit Washington to protest, let alone long enough to make a difference with like-minded people.
The wealthy, on the other paw, can freely travel, network, and simply not worry about being ruined if they dare to do something beyond basic survival.
America needs an economic system that promotes agency of every single citizen. That means guaranteeing survival, ensuring enough vacation time to permit protesting, and decent wealth accumulation for the poorest American. Without that, it isn't possible for the ordinary person to exert meaningful political influence.
America just lost a huge amount of federal workers, Elon has broken into the treasury, and Trump ended our foreign relations for no good reason.
America is splitting apart, and corporations will have to pick a side. Considering that Microsoft controls the most common OS in the world, it would be very strange if DOGE didn't try to take control.
Can't say I feel bad about this, nor for piracy. IMO, copyright shouldn't be a thing, or least limited to a small chunk of a human lifespan.
I prefer stability, so I only swap to an new OS when I have a fresh machine. Plus, MS is a bully and just plain suspicious. My PC, my rules.
For me, I am concerned about Microsoft going fascist. Last thing I need is my PC to be a turncoat. Also, I hate being forced to update. I want to pick my updates and schedule.
If I modify my existing PC to dual boot from the same drive into Linux, can I easily and safely delete Windows once I have migrated my files into Linux?
IIRC, you can download the .iso from Microsoft themselves, then use a keygen program to create an auto-renewing key. WindowsKMS, I think it was?
May a cleated boot find it. Repeatedly.
IMO, The EU should straight up ally with Ukraine with a path to membership. I think that allowing Russia to be as it is, would be a huge mistake. In a conflict with America, that would likely mean having a Russian knife to one's back. Breaking the Russia we know, developing Ukraine, and maybe even help some form of Neorussia democracy with a Marshall Plan, would all contribute to getting ready for a fight with America.
I guess Trump could add a new canal to the Red Sea, as per an old proposal involving nukes to dig it. Considering this administration, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
Back before the clock was invented, agricultural workers had about 160 days of the year to themselves. (Admittedly, to do intensive chores.) Also, employers gave free breakfast and lunch, with a bit of beer. Workers might also do as low as 4 hours of work IIRC, depending on the day and season. Below is a video on the subject. Civilis also covers topics, such as the fall of the Roman republic...which feels awfully relevant, nowadays.
For the martial masters among us, this is one way to dispose of a Nazi.
Up til now, I only had gaming desktops for the last 30+ years. Still, I might be able to borrow a laptop from another resident of the building. Hopefully with a power cable and all of that.
...Wait, up until now I was using GPedit to try and force Windows Enterprise to update with my permission and timeline, but it always seemed to be a bit ignored. But I can use 'services.msc' to disable Windows Update from starting up. I can probably use the WSUS tool if I want specific updates from that point on...
In theory, anyways. I will have to try it out. I don't want to migrate if I can avoid it.
Trump given power to rename Greenland 'Red, White and Blueland' under new bill tabled by Republicans
I want Captain America punching Elon, and Wonder Woman doing the same to Trump. Honestly, we have a rogue's gallery of villains in Project 2025.
