  • Well then there's the answer to "why is this community putting babylon bee headlines on my front page"

  • Just finished ep 3. it was definitely the forced gender assignment on a baby episode that did it...

  • Meijer doesn't sell anymore, and Walmart went to shotguns only around me.

matches are genuinely inclusive, and homo-/transphobes are not welcome.

This is important to me. I am CIS white guy, but too often when someone is wearing shit like "fuck your feelings/let's go Brandon" and "your body my choice" and nobody says anything, but the moment you speak up you get shit for "starting something" and "making a scene" and of course good luck reminding that crowd what happens when someone like THEM makes a scene, people end up dead.

Yeah, those $500+ classes don't bother me with their time investment but holy shit I guess it's just too expensive to help people.... My account has under 400 until I can find a new job that doesn't have so much down time between contracts..

I would happily attend the WFR classes, especially since I go mountain biking, hiking, fishing, etc in the woods and know from experience a fun day riding a bike 20 miles from the road can quickly turn south when a carbon fiber part snaps and slices an artery. Luckily someone had a tourniquet in their bag and the bleeding was stemmed until EMT got there.... Eventually.

I'm sure they're better for a variety of first aid than the TCCC-CLS is, but both sound like they would be worth doing nowadays.

  • Around my parts of Ohio, there are several different sporting goods stores, both chain and locally owned, with various outdoor activities to shop for. From fishing, to bicycles, to football stuff and hunting gear.

I would say I've tried everything I can to get them to come with my wife and I when we bust out the targets, but one of them is concerned about messing up their gun (which I countered by saying better to break a bad gun in practice than when you need to shoot someone about to murder you, to recieve a hand-waved dismissal) and another just "doesn't have the time".... but this is the first I'm hearing of inrangeTV so I am definitely checking them out myself as well.

I really need to get first aid certified, but so far all I have done to that end is getting a couple first aid guides, a few kits of varying types, and watching a lot of videos... Basically FA... And I'd like to be able to patch someone up from a wound especially if I'm willing to put it there.

  • I'll deal with it, but could you be a dear and come show me how, in person? And no need to bring any form of security, half the people on this street are former marines, specwar navy, an army Ranger, and about a dozen former national guard. They'll all be here to ensure security of the country.

  • Now I'm thinking I should give it another try.

I gave Discovery half a season, I have the Orville 2 or 3 episodes and while it was funny it didn't really click for me. I just lost interest after a few episodes.

Edit: just finished episode 3. Now I remember why I didn't keep watching. I should have just read the plot breakdown and skipped the episode. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.

  • I sent the first news story about the signal chats to my parents ands in-laws in a big group that said "I had better never fucking hear another one of you dumbasses say a word about 'HeR eEeEeEmAiLs' ever again"

Not a single one replied, both parents have (according to my wife) started taking Facebook posts they've made in the past down, and my in-laws have not said a political word in over a week. It's been refreshing.

They clearly aren't ready to accept they may have been totally wrong all along, but it's nice to see they might be self-aware enough to recognize when they might be potentially maybe SOMETIMES be less than correct about specific things.

You need a microscope to see it, but i consider it a step up.

  • "These leopards would never eat my face! They wanted us here!"

  • "if someone said anything negative about me, I would gladly murder dozens of people JUST to make them look bad, therefore this is perfectly believable!"

    That's the logic.

  • Honestly that just sounds like someone who just forgot to keep drinking while experiencing couch lock... When I'm smoking sativa strains like last night, I am perfectly okay the next day since I'm much more active, and therefore drink more liquids, than when smoking indica strains.

While I'm sure it happens, it's just not a thing for me or my wife and her friends I guess.

I know someone who loves to smoke, but every time she does, her hands start shaking noticeably, but not enough to need help with things. Except maybe pouring a drink.

  • Do other people get hangovers from weed? The 4 people I could check with immediately all said they've never had one either.

  • He's right, it wouldn't have happened.

Jesus would have been black bagged by the CIA a long time before his message spread too far, and the FBI would be investigating him for CommuSocialMarxism like McCarthy is still kicking.

And he definitely would be deported to South America.

Also also has the artist never seen a cross before? That horizontal piece is really low.

  • Is it considered normal to type out a normal question format when using search engines?

If I were looking for an answer instead of making a funny meme, I'd search "heat movie cast Angelina Jolie" if I didn't feel like putting any effort in.

Then again, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I've seen someone use their phone to search google "what is 87÷167?" instead of doing "87/167" or like... Opening the calculator....

People do things in different, sometimes weird ways.

  • Okay I know I like to joke about how bat's look like sky puppers, but this is CLEARLY a bat-canine hybrid of some sort.

    BAT-DOG!

  • I mean, by process of elimination, I guess.

I thought about including orks in there, but they do too many uncool things like trying to fight people who don't want to fight.

They're perfectly happy fighting anyone and everyone, including themselves, and just want a good propper fight.

Kind of hard justifying a fight with puppies though...

  • Unfortunately, they very much do.

And they don't understand who the good guys are in 40k either (it's no one. Except maybe tyranids acting at an instinctual level)

  • Treating a telescope like a jackhammer isn't going to work well.

They just haven't figured out your jackhammer just looks a lot like their telescope.

  • Indeed.

Despite my own work in making knives and other blacksmithing things, where I LITERALLY have a magnet on my anvil so I can test for when the steel hits it's austenitic temp, I somehow managed to forget the iron will go non magnetic...

So yeah. Thanks for the reminder!

In my defense I haven't made any knives since moving a year ago...

However, this is aluminum I think? I'm not entirely sure how magnetism works with lenzs law and if there's a temperature it stops working...

  • Luckily for me I got the job in-store for bicycles, but then after a few months they couldn't keep people behind the gun counter and had to ask me to start filling in. By the time I left, I was behind the gun counter more than the bike counter.

I'm positive my looks nowadays would draw plenty of comments, but back then I looked like the stereotypical straight white guy that didn't have any strong political opinions..... I know I'd be getting comments about my appearance now. Lgbtq+ support and long hair are enough I'm sure I'd even have some locals waiting for me to get off work to harass me. It wouldn't be the first time a republicunt took issue with an employee and tried to wait until closing to start shit. Which is a bad idea when half the employees have their CCW.

No worries about the neighbors owning guns. They're citizens, they just don't pass the "paper bag test" for cops, and have their own firearms. They used to be staunchly against firearms until 2020. Then with all the political bullshit leading straight into covid made them reconsider.

I miss being able to shoot a text to 6 friends asking if anyone wants to go shooting at friend 2s house, and within two hours we're all laughing, chowing down on snacks, setting up a ton of clay targets for some friendly competitions... Now I'm down to 0(ish) friends that aren't primarily my wife's friends, and they don't do target practice. They can strip and maintain all their guns with a blindfold on, but I don't think they've even sighted them in properly. Many discussions have been had over this unfortunately.

The bystander effect made 8 people watch from 15ft away as I literally crawled across a street, covered in blood, my leg twisted the wrong way, after a close call from a truck while riding a bicycle made me eat shit. After one person FINALLY ran over to me, suddenly all 8 were walking over, apologizing saying they thought someone else was coming over first.

Because of that I have decided unless there is a CLEAR leader in getting things taken care of, I'm always going to try to be the first to act when someone is in need. If someone collapses on the ground, I'm running over to make sure they're breathing/conscious, and I either actively calling an ambulance or pointing at a specific person and going "YOU, MALE WITH THE RED SHIRT, CALL 911 RIGHT NOW" since people react far quicker when called out specifically. Don't assume someone else will show up to help. You ARE RIGHT THERE. So help.

Anyways, daily reminder that armed minorities are harder to oppress. Armed minorities make governments afraid.
