  • You're getting blackpilled because your scope of what liberal democracy is is incredibly limited and almost childish. Student loan forgiveness? Recognizing Palestine? Those are useless carrots dangled in front of you that do not materially change the country or even count as policies.

If you want to lock out authoritarians for another 100 years and have a real democracy you need to think bigger and grow up. Fundamental voting procedures need to be overhauled. The judiciary needs to be completely removed and then reinstated with additional safeguards against partisanship. Return to a gold standard and abolishment of stocks. Yes, the entire stock market. Quite frankly the entire constitution needs an overhaul to a degree where the old one should just be tossed into a fire and the flag changed afterwards to reflect all these changes to the country.

THAT is what is needed. To remove FUNDAMENTAL and ENDEMIC problems that have been plaguing this republic for 200 years now!

But instead of thinking about that, you just prefer some free money in the form of debt forgiveness. And that's why Trump won and he and his successor will keep winning for the foreseeable future.

    1. Not how any of this works. They had a choice between bowing down or closing down. Many other universities will soon get, and make, the same choice.
    2. There will be no return to pre-2025. Ever. The damage to all institutions and the entrenchment of the victorious billionaire class are too severe. I wish people would finally understand that. Be prepared to fight a literal civil war, you will not vote your way out of this.
  • Exactly. Social-democracy is the way forward, I just wish there was a party that would focus on restoring the rules based order and general personal liberties, without getting baited into endless culture wars on hyperspecific topics like trans rights by conservatives. I figure saying this is unpopular on very liberal skewing platforms such as here, but I consider this a huge reason why the middle has largely abandoned Democrats. Feels like Democrats lost the plot and now everything else with it.

  • Say, for example, someone started a "Socialist" party. Running mainly on domestic issues such as worker's rights, proportional taxation, rescinding the idea that corporations are people in the eyes of the law. But WITHOUT a clear stance on culture war baggage such as trans rights, DEI related talking points and "wokeness". Those would be considered state issues and not a domain for the federal government since it distracts from actual geopolitical issues such as wars and climate change catastrophe mitigation.

Would anyone be interested in that? Basically a party that focuses on issues in a similar way AOC does. Socialist, but not communist as I consider the US constitution and the right of elections untouchable. Liberal-socialist, in a way.

  • Oh good. That means we must invade Mexico because so much comes over the border. And of course this means we must attack China to defend ourselves against their WMDs. Canada is the least of our (already not really) fentanyl problem, but of course Trump will seek to justify invasion that way.

At this point I only wish those rock chewers would just be honest. Just tell everyone you invade Canada "just because" in a war of naked aggression. That's en vogue anyway.

Edit: Canadians, take a shovel and start digging trenches along the entire border. 3 trenches deep, with extra circular ones around cities and logistic hubs. Place explosives on all bridges near the border. Change the location of your mobile AA systems, every 3-4 days. All of this can be done without conscription or rationing to increase weapons manufacturing and might be enough to have Canada be considered too difficult to invade without horribly losses. Plus it would be an amazing statement of rejection towards America in general and Trump specifically. Peace time is over, start digging.

  • Oh no! DO NOT throw things at Teslas from the sides, as the cameras won't see you. DO NOT conceal your face while throwing a molotov cocktail, which would make it pretty much impossible to catch you unless someone follows you.

  • See Donald, I'm reasonable. All I want is the complete capitulation of Ukraine and Europe too please, as well as the abolishment of any and all sphere of influence the US lays claim on on this planet. If you're surrendering like a good little dog, we can hold joint hockey games where we get to laugh in American faces in-person instead of just online.

  • If this keeps up, no insurance company will insure Teslas anymore. I'm fairly sure the prices for that have already gone up and will continue to do so. It's a high-risk asset now.

Elon doesn't get anything. Well unless the troglodyte having his Tesla just burned down goes out and buys another in hopes this one won't combust or see him on the wrong side of a mob.

  • This is how you virtue signal on the right. If there was anything juicy in those files it would have been headlined by the White House already. His idiot followers now pat themselves on the back for this "great win against the swamp", while never reading a single line themselves from the records and forgetting all about it by tomorrow. Great distraction, but now I'm curios what Trump is trying to distract from.

  • We peacefully transitioned into a technocracy with a wanna-be dictator idiot at the helm.

As an exercise for anyone reading this who doesn't already know: How did Hitler got into a position of power? Look that up, don't use AI, actually check up on that yourself.

  • If 11 million people strike, then 11 people will be fired immediately after and replaced by a different 11 million. Plus the demands are too broad to get a unified strike going. "General malcontent about the state of things" doesn't roll off the tongue. Don't worry, once things get bad enough strikes, large scale protests, riots and armed insurgencies follow automatically.

  • There are two reasons why you stop corporate advocacy. You've either ran out of money, or the goal you've sought to accomplish, was accomplished. I didn't see him begging in the streets yet. So I guess whatever the end goal of his advocacy war has been achieved.

  • We should ban all algorithms on social media, period. Not just Xitter or TikTok, but also Youtube. You should NEVER be presented with information that a corporation has decided to force-feed you. Not just because of the obvious implication of manipulation, but also because it degenerates a person's ability to seek out desired information themselves. There is basically no young person (zoomer) left in the US who still knows how to look up information from sources or find desired media themselves. Everyone relies on their start-page recommendation, curated by the company. And just mindlessly scrolls from there. No one looks up information to answer questions they might have, but instead type their question into Grok or whatever, and take whatever is presented to them as fact.

And if we can't ban algorithms, then we must ban all social media entirely. Everyone gets their news from a newspaper thrown at their door, 2 weeks out of date. You might not believe it, but that unironically would solve almost all issues plaguing the world right now. It's just that we don't want to give up the positives aspects and entertainment, too.

  • It's heartwarming to see all of Trumps appointees agreeing they REALLY suck ass and have no idea what their agency is actually doing, and thus seek to abolish themselves. From USPS, to Department of Education, to Congress itself.
