  • Do you spend $70 on your wired headphones though? Or are you comparing the durability of cheap crap wired headphones to decent value budget wireless headphones? I have both a pair of Soundcore wireless headphones and a couple of pairs of wired headphones at home that all cost around the same amount and I'm certain I could smash the Soundcore headphones into tiny pieces using the wired ones and the wired ones would still work fine.

  • Other people's health is not a zero-sum game. There is an increasing wealth gap wherein the resources and value of humanities labour are being increasingly concentrated in the hands of a tiny minority to the detriment of everyone else.

It's like being at a party where just before the food is served some unhinged lunatic runs in and manages to somehow fit all the food for the entire party into their underwear and run off with it.

People saying "hey, maybe we shouldn't invite that person to parties anymore" and you reacting like "well, I don't compare how much food I have with people who have stolen all the food. All that matters is that you're all just as hungry as I am. You'll never feel full if you compare yourself to someone who stole all of the food!" is very difficult to respond to in a way that is compatible with the way the Beehaw community works....

  • It wasn't the first game I played, nor the first I was really drawn in by but Ultima IV on the Master System just seemed like a miracle. There could be an entire world with a rich history, populated by diverse characters where I got to step into the role of the protagonist of a story like in a fantasy novel only I had the freedom to make my own choices about how to respond to the story, the gameplay rewarded careful thinking over twitchy reflexes and the game world was so big it expanded into real world artefacts. I had no idea of the potential of the medium until I encountered that game but it all unfolded before me once I had.

  • They absolutely don't and from the inside I rarely ever see anything but negative comments about her from other famous Brits. The rare exception is when it's someone I already think is absolutely awful. Might be there's a bit of a bias in the British figures that are being it in front of you. Certainly I find there are media platforms within the UK where everyone is absolutely awful and would support her.

  • When I read about Neo-(x-political-term) I generally think of new ideas around it, not ideas reaching back to WWII.

Everything was new at some point. Things are named relative to when they happen, not relative to when you hear about them.

  • Keep in mind that a) that was the conversion from the US pricing. Chances are it will be a different price if and when they hit the market in the UK. Additionally keep in mind that the reporting was that hypothetically they may become commercially available in the UK next year. I highly doubt anyone is trying to create fear in the UK today to drive purchases of a product that might become available in the UK in 2024.

  • That sounds frustrating. FWIW, I had a quick look for this thing I thought I remembered. The results I found referred to the issue I ly effecting cropped images however I'm sure I remember seeing something when I first read about it that suggested it also effected trimmed videos. Certainly the nature of the bug is such that it's conceivable that it does.

  • Yeah no problem. I actually posted a top level comment fwiw. I think I maybe remember that Google's solution for trimming videos was broken (in a way that is apparently now fixed) in a way that meant it was much easier than it should be to get the data back. Potentially worth googling for a bit to see if I'm right and if it can help you.

  • Iirc (which I'm not entirely confident I do), whilst it has been patched there was some sort of issue where the I built Google tools for things like trimming video were not actually deleting the trimmed portion at all. Worth googling about it (using a different device.) Could be there's an unpatched issue with the way your phone deletes trimmed video that makes it relatively easy to get that footage back.

Fundamentally though I doubt they have any right whatsoever to trim your recording so it might be best to just try to consult with a lawyer. If there's any sort of legal action you could take they will be able to advise on exactly what evidence you would need and how to gather it.

  • Also what’s with the third person, who else is there with you calling the shots?

It was you. You were there and you knew from day one. Lots of allegations were directed at you, specifically. What is happening.

Of course he didn’t write it.

    Huh?

  • I suspect that all the not Linus people were already working towards publishing a response like this to the Gamer's Nexus video when Linus ran off wildcarding again and they then decided to rush out a video so they could clearly state that Linus's response only represented Linus's knee-jerk response and was not supported by or representative of LTT/LMG's take. So... It really really sucks that they responded to a situation created by them rushing and being sloppy by rushing and being sloppy but it may well be that if Linus had been kept under control they wouldn't have and keeping Linus under control seems to be a big part of their strategy going forwards. I guess my point is it's too early to judge whether the shift in internal power dynamics at LTT/LMG, refocusing their priorities and reducing their rate of output will actually solve the issues or not.

  • That was all of the cringy parts. The whole of the rest of it is basically fine. Just people saying "We messed up in these ways and we think it was for these reasons. We are going to do xyz to try to make sure we don't mess up in similar ways moving forwards."

  • I think I heard that (and the jokes about the CFO being the "sponsor") had been trimmed out of the video (which I haven't checked.) The first time I saw it (just about an hour after posting) it was still included and you could still see the value that Billet labs was giving for their prototype was still unblurred and there was a comment from the head of labs about how they were going to post some sort of transparency video behind a paywall (on Floatplane.) When I rewatched later that day (to show someone) they had blurred out the value, they still had the jokes about selling stuff. I'm not honestly sure if they still had the thing about the plan for the paywalled transparency video. Later I saw a short reaction video to the drama that claimed all of those elements had now been removed from the LTT video.

  • I really doubt this post is by Linus directly. It's been about two days since the brand new CEO and the rest of the c-suite informed Linus that any communication he makes regarding stuff like this has to go through them now.
