  • Talk about a fumble from labour, you guys finally escaped the Tories after like what 15 years and it's just to get Tory light...

  • Not OP's fault but I have PTSD of the word "disgusting" from my years in tech dealing with angry UK customers, they loooove using this word to complain about the most mundane shit like it's a war crime.

  • That is the genuine argument I see people use to defend farehnheit so this checks out.

  • Sure sounds like it to anyone able to figure out that 1+1=2, yes.

  • Came in here to say detectorists, now I'm leaving with a new show to rewatch, score!

  • It's definitely a home made and personal distinction but basically for me pop-punk is reserved for the ones I don't like haha. It has a negative side so I needed another term for the (admittedly) pop punk bands that I do like. Again you're probably right, that's just the way I do it internally. And I just use it to describe the sound, Millencollin for example is Swedish. Also there's bands like bad religion that still kinda have that sound but I wouldn't dare classify them under "pop", I'm sure NOFX would take an issue with it too, etc.

  • Clicked on the one with the cat thumbnail. No cat was present in the first few seconds of the video. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

  • I've never stopped listening to "Cali punk" so I'm good to go (I don't care if green day is really from California or not, that's what I call the happy poppy punk that's not crusty enough to be called punk without a qualifier: NOFX, Offspring, Blink 182, Millencollin, etc etc).

  • I actually understood what they wanted to say perfectly. It's like one of those things where the first and last words are correctly placed but everything in the middle is jumbled up, but your brain automatically puts it right.

They're saying "imagine explaining to normal people what the guys on the right would do to the guys on the left in a fight". I assume they're top MMA fighters or something like that.

  • OK so the mug acts like a small pot, but isn't the handle also crazy hot then?

  • Allons*

  • You do not need to fill up a kettle. The less you put in it the less time it takes too.

  • I don't even understand how that could work, surely a standard mug would break one way or another if you just stick it on the stove?

  • I love that one. I'm right in thinking it's specifically tap water, right? (As in the water provided by the council, you wouldn't use it for Evian or whatever).

  • Yeah it's probably the most linked xkcd with some margin, would be fun to see the traffic data to that page.

  • Or watched jackass.

  • Yes indeed if you want to be safe book a train that leaves between 12:00 and 14:00 that's when they're at the bistrot for lunch.

  • Only for Eurostar and some other international trains you get some checks when boarding, especially since Brexit.
