Luna Bear Deeply Contemplating Life After Trying to Find the Perfect Spot for a Nap

> She tried to prop herself up on my partner, but I guess it wasn't comfy enough. Now she's at the end of the bed

Saw this and felt it was fitting for the sub. Luna Bear is looking like me when I have eaten 3/4 of a brand new pack of muffins and I think I should just finish them off at that point

I've started my cat on inhaled corticosteroids and rescue inhaler but she's still have constant stochastic asthma attacks?
  • I would definitely get some ideas from the Internet, but verify them with a vet afterwards. If you feel like your current vets advice isn't working don't be afraid to get a second opinion from a different vet (it's what I would do with a human doctor as well).

  • This feels like it belongs in accidental renaissance as well to me. Something about the dogs pose makes it look like it is in deep, troubled thought.

  • Feds target SUV, truck size to save pedestrian lives — ‘one of the last frontiers of vehicle safety’
  • Regardless of truck size, I don't think tractor trailers are going anywhere. Even if we made trucks smaller those would still be out there

Smaller trucks would still get in accidents though, and I imagine they would be less deadly

  • The Origin Story Behind Counter-Strike's Most Iconic Map - Noclip Documentary
  • I'd say I missed out on this really cool map making period in gaming history (Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Half-life, counter-strike, etc.), but it kinda lived on a little when I was a teenager (countless, painful hours making halo 3 and halo: reach maps using a controller...fun times though). Kids nowadays have it the best though: When I was little we DREAMED of a lego video game and minecraft nails that (lego island and lego island 2 were awesome, but it wasn't infinite building awesome).

  • AP Top 25 Poll - Sep 3, 2024
  • I was gonna chalk it up to strength of schedule (by that I mean give the team that is probably gonna get walloped a ranking for a week or 2), but Boston College plays Mizzou (currently ranked 9th) in 2 weeks. Georgia Tech is playing Louisville (currently ranked 22nd) in 2 weeks. I guess it's other factors, who knows how the voters in the AP Poll decide...

Regardless, if Boston College beats Mizzou, and Georgia Tech beats Louisville they both can be ranked by the end of week 2.

  • Beersheets suggestions?

Anybody got any beersheets suggestions for drafting this year?

I seeFootball Absurdity has a sheet up, but according to their r*ddit post Beer4theBeerGod (the original Beersheets maker) got his doctorate and is off doing doctorate things instead of beersheets (more power to him tbh).

  • I see someone else read this NY Times article today. Wild read, I was trying to get things done around the house and it sucked me in.

Edit: OP posted the article in another community, can't believe I missed it. https://kbin.melroy.org/m/news@lemmy.world/t/411895

  • Media Bias Fact Check - Automation
  • Mods, I appreciate this bot!

Deciphering media bias is tough, and finding 1 site that will 'perfectly' identify biases is an impossible task, but at the minimum having this bot show up on posts 'gets people thinking' about the credibility of their news sources.

MBFC doesn't have to be the ultimate arbitrator either. If it is missing something about a specific article people can call it out in the comments. At the end of the day, the worst thing it does is add more data about a news source and I'm not gonna complain about that.

  • Activision secretly experimented on 50% of Call of Duty players by 'decreasing' skill-based matchmaking, and determined players like SBMM even if they don't know it
  • If you're retired and in Florida there's a whole competitive scene! My buddy's parents got us into the game 2 years ago before they moved to the villages. They came back to visit a few months ago and I was VERY humbled .

Maybe that's why it's cheap to get tennis lessons now.

Just gotta hope they aren't stealing your tennis court to play pickleball! Lol

  • TL;DR: it felt like there was no 'casual' mode

I would run into an issue where I would use 1 meta load out and would hold around a 1.0 k/d, but if I ever wanted to experiment and try some other guns or unlock some new attachments I would get absolutely shredded. I would do this for a few matches, unlock whatever I was trying to unlock, and then switch back to my most efficient load out and absolutely shred the lobby I was playing in for a few games until I averaged back to a 1.0 k/d.

I felt like the only multiplayer option was 'competitive' and I couldn't really experiment with things without getting my shit pushed in.

For an IRL comparison: I play pickleball from time to time and if I casually play someone at or slightly below my skill level I can experiment a little (try landing shots in different places, work on forehand vs. backhand, etc.), but if I play in a competitive tournament and go up against a pro they will absolutely kick my ass in record time (and that's okay lol).

  • A compelling theory.
  • Apparently there is a Wikipedia page dedicated to Titanic Conspiracy theories, who knew!

In regards to swapping the Olympic with the Titanic, this section summarizes:

British historian Gareth Russell, for his part, calls the theory "so painfully ridiculous that one can only lament the thousands of trees which lost their lives to provide the paper on which it has been articulated." He notes that, "since the sister ships had significant interior architectural and design differences, switching them secretly in a week would be nearly impossible from a practical standpoint. A switch would also not be economically worthwhile, since the ship's owners could have simply damaged the ship while docked (for instance, by setting a fire) and collected the insurance money from that 'accident', which would have been far less severe, and infinitely less stupid, than sailing her out into the middle of the Atlantic with thousands of people, and their luggage, on board, and ramming her into an iceberg".

  • Maximum Yearly Extent of the Ozone Hole since 1979
  • It is actually getting better, it just takes time.

In fact, according to the above Wikipedia article it was in a great spot in 2019 and then a volcano erupted:

In 2019, the ozone hole was at its smallest in the previous thirty years, due to the warmer polar stratosphere weakening the polar vortex. In September 2023, the Antarctic ozone hole was one of the largest on record, at 26 million square kilometers. The anomalously large ozone loss may have been a result of the 2022 Tonga volcanic eruption.

  • Wake on Lan plugin suggestion for unraid?

    Hi All,

I was following this guide by SpaceInvader One on how to set up Guacamole to remotely access VM's. When I got to the section about wake on lan, he advised to use the Virtual Machine Wake on Lan plugin. This appears to be deprecated and requires Python 2 to use going forward.

Can anyone suggest an alternative to the Virtual Machine Wake on Lan plugin?
