  • They love local billionaire Tom Golisano too, he's the only person capable of creating wealth apparently. Being a company town allows them to maintain their bigoted ways. Yeah the majority of population in Rochester is black or Hispanic, but you'd never guess that if you met the staff working at U of R and Paychex.

  • I wish they would learn from their past instead of trying to repeat the company town model. The local Rochester newspaper just did a couple articles about racial tensions arising from Kodak's discriminatory practices and the redlining that happened in the surrounding Maplewood neighborhood. Even when it was a good city it only applied to white folks.

  • Lol at all the stupid fuckers in WNY who thought manufacturing microprocessors would be a good idea. I told people about the Foxconn debacle in Wisconsin but the delusions are too strong. Same people who think the Bills will win a Superbowl any year.

  • Dragonfly, I would eat so many mosquitoes.

  • An aged Jam band guy from the Southern tier of New York. Probably started a web store selling dried mushrooms and is now the millionaire next door type with a cabin on the finger lakes. He met his wife at Cornell and they have a daughter who moved West so it's just the two of them and their Corgi named Winston.

  • At Letchworth state park they have a backpacking trail that's great for weekend trips. Problem is you need to reserve the lean-tos with the DEC and tell the Army Corp of engineers and put a million flyers on your dash of your vehicle. If you fail to do one of these things search and rescue teams come out to look you you to confirm you didn't commit suicide on the dam.

  • Now that I live in New York I interject into every pizza discussion that pizza rolls started in Minnesota. It's one of my favorite snarky quips to bust out at the bar. The sarcastic folks love it, but every once in a while I get a rise out of someone.

  • The thing about this country is that most of us are a bunch of settlers who need to be humbled on the international stage. We are the bad guys and I feel it's advantageous to the good people of the world that we have an incompetent bumbling idiot as our leader. The sooner Xi fires the nukes the sooner we are to turning the corner on this very sad point in history. As John Brown put it, "the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away, but with blood".

  • I'm a construction estimator, job postings will ask for a degree in construction management, engineering or 5-10 years experience in the trades. Easiest way to get this job is with field experience compared to an education. You do gotta prove to be somewhat intelligent, if you can show problem solving skills and adept blueprint reading someone will hire you.

  • Being an old can be pretty cool. My 30's are definitely going better than my 20's.

  • Considering CEOs were taking advice from hustle 'n grind culture idiots like Gary Vee, it's no surprise that AI would be an improvement.

  • ... I just can't stand having to breathe weed smoke all day. Puffing on fat doinks in public is worse than cigarettes.

  • I think my list of least dangerous to most dangerous is Blackbear, fellow hiker man, Grizzly Bear, man in woods not hiking, and man who owns property next to said hiking trail.

  • No, please no more unfamiliar people hiking in the woods. Especially folks arguing about stuff like this. The two most dangerous things in the woods are sprained joints or broken bones from an accidental fall and being exposed to extreme weather.

  • That was the first thought that crossed my mind and all I could think thereafter was, "My god, they really are blue MAGA".

  • I thought Obama would help me go to college and stop my parents from getting their home foreclosed.

  • The first thing that crossed my mind when I read this story. Lady, your daughter is suggesting that a very cool thing happen to your partner.

  • My buddy uses his 3D printer to make figurines and organizers for board games. That's the best use I've seen from them.
