What is the most useless thing you still have memorized?
  • After learning the phonetic alphabet I thought it would help when I'm spelling out my last name to people to say 'let me spell it out phonetically'. Most of the time I get a blank stare and then they have me repeat each letter, many of which sound similar.

  • So much siding, but it keeps getting worse
  • As far as where to get the material, conveniently enough a church with $100 billion doesn't usually install security cameras and a few windows are usually left unlatched from Sunday school kids trying to get fresh air.

  • So much siding, but it keeps getting worse
  • I finally got to a bedroom picture where it looked like painted walls, then zoomed in to see it was carpet. My only explanation is Mormonism, as I have only ever seen carpeted walls in my chapel growing up. Mind you, that was rough spiky carpet seemingly installed to discourage sleeping against the wall.

  • Isn't "MAGA" an admission that currently, America is NOT great?
  • There's the context of Trump riding the wave of right wing rage with his claims Obama was born in Kenya. Shortly after he paid a bunch of hourly extras to form a crowd as he descended a golden escalator to launch his 2016 campaign claiming Mexico was sending rapists, and a cadre of WWE fans, white supremacists, credulous evangelicals, and reprogrammable meatbags who tuned into Fox News decided politics was interesting again.

For most of these people if you start asking which years America was great versus not great they might admit some of the Bush years were sub-par (because of those OTHER people who hate freedom), and preach about the good ol' days when we drank water from a hose. Where everybody treated each other right, unless you were a person of color in a sundown town. They will retcon any facts you present and claim you are cancelling them and it's no fair remembering the past, as they have been conditioned to believe faith is a virtue. The Bible's "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" fucked up my brain for too many years of my life. I wish it was easier to fix this, but a useful quote I remember when I break off most discussions with my dad is,

If someone doesn't value evidence, what evidence are you going to provide to prove that they should value it? If someone doesn’t value logic, what logical argument could you provide to show the importance of logic? -Sam Harris

  • no I will not skin my neighbors stop trying to tempt me stupid knife 😡
  • For a fun science experiment, you can ask friends and family whether the knives whisper to them as well. If you are rigurous in your methods you may learn whether the source is the knife, or your brain, or according to that one relative, Illuminati broadcasts from the COVID microchip.

  • Portable CD players are back and now work with wireless headphones
  • This may sound crazy, but hear me out. What if instead of a spinning plastic disc we use a spinning metal one, for durability and to reduce movement of the medium while accessing data. It would also allow for much greater storage density if we stack a bunch of them.

  • Geometry
  • I remember using a compass or protractor a few times in geometry class and feeling I could never ever possibly need this because I have no interest in designing things.

A decade later I found myself working for an aircraft manufacturer and needing to verify angles and dimensions for fabricated parts was understandably a critical part of the job.

  • at the end of the day it's simple
  • Living in a red state it feels like screaming into a void, as unfortunately the only discernable desires from the right wing base are "please tread on me, corporations" and "please shield my kids from new ideas," with an endless supply of pundits and politicians selling that shtick.

  • at the end of the day it's simple
  • Yet somehow when 100% of Republicans voted against they are held blameless as they are expected to be fully servile to the corporate class, and only Democrats have the obligation to pass laws.

  • Keyword filtering is great

I just remembered Sync has keyword filters, removing jeans and beans from my feed is a huge improvement
