  • I think the difference here is that you can't quite just put an AI tag on something, and then investors flock to give you money.
The AI companies that are invested in, are mostly companies that actually have something to show. And the biggest investment and benefactor is Nvidia that actually makes loads of money from AI products.

  • AI is improving at the same rate it always has

This is blatantly false, there's a reason there is talk of the cold winter of AI, and the long walk in the desert.
The desert walk was at least 2 decades of very little progress despite big investments, the cold winter was another decade without much progress because of disillusionment so nobody wanted to invest in it.
AI has progressed more for the past 10-15 years than it did for 40 years from about the 70's to about 2010.

For actual AI, nothing has changed.

I assume you mean strong or general AI, and that's not what we are debating here, because that is not a reality yet.

Something that doesn't exist obviously can't burst.

  • I agree 100%, and yes there are always losers due to competition and failure to compete. Just like some companies are losing money making cars, but cars are obviously not a bubble.
Maybe the most of the hype is over for now among investors, but AFAIK Nvidia who is the biggest supplier of hardware for it, is not seeing a slowdown in demand.
So maybe it's more a slow down of interest in the media?

  • No you can't sous vide at body temperature. red meat needs 60 °C (130 to 140 °F).
Body temperature is only about 37°.
Try to warm some water to 60° C and put your finger in it, and see how long you can hold it there.
Or maybe don't because you will get burned.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sous_vide

If your question is how we can tolerate higher temperatures than our body temperature, even up to 60° C, the answer is body cooling. As mentioned by others, cooling by evaporating sweat (water) from the surface of our skin.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_index

If you look at the table, you can only tolerate up to for instance 43° C at 40% humidity. At that point there is extreme danger.
The more dry the air is, the higher temperature can be tolerated, because the sweat evaporates faster so you cool faster.

So at 90% humidity cooling is very slow, so you can only tolerate up to 33° C. Which is about 4° C below body temperature. But the heat you generate internally makes you heat up to above tolerable body temperature, and if prolonged you will die.

  • So you are saying this is lawless territory?
    That does not sound acceptable.
Obviously it would probably be the NHS that is sued, because that's the arm of the American administration that did this.
And since he was expelled, I believe the case should be allowed to run in Norway.

  • Yes I think Facebook and Microsoft may lose money on this, you could call that over investing, but for it to be a bubble that burst, companies need to go down, and people lose money on it.
Otherwise you may be looking for a completely different word which is fad, a period where something is over hyped, but quickly settles down like Fidget Spinners.
.com was a bubble because a lot of people lost a lot of money, so much so that it reverberated through the entirety of financial systems globally. I don't think we will see a financial bubble burst due to AI, that is more than 1% of that at most.
META is throwing out money like crazy on their "META" project that will never succeed, and they are doing the same with AI, but they will not go bankrupt on it, and AI will almost guaranteed be more successful than the "META" project.
What I mean is that generally more money will be made on AI, than is lost experimenting with it.

  • I don't think it will, AI will improve transform and expand in areas of usefulness, so I think we are still in the early days.

But at what point can we agree that it didn't?
When we finally get FSD for real? When AI helps improve diagnosis and saves lives?
When AI creates new molecules that are better than any chemist could do without AI.

What will it take for people to realize that AI is here to stay? And AI will remain a significant part of our economy.
Some people behave like AI is some sort of .com bubble, but from an economic viewpoint that doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. The investment landscape into AI is completely different from the .com speculation that was completely void of content.

AI is financed by established players that develop and use AI themselves, while .com was venture capital investing in ideas with no purpose.
Tesla may burst, because they try to sell themselves as an AI company, but they are so far behind it's ridiculous.
I suspect the Tesla bubble may burst in 5-10 years.

  • I also recently read a story about a Dane, who was married to an American woman, and had several children, and had lived and worked in USA for years was expelled.
IDK why he didn't have the papers he needed, he should have known better. But people are naive, and he probably thought being married to an American was enough?
But we actually have the same rule in Denmark now, being married to a Dane is no longer enough to be allowed to stay here. It used to be an automatic permit to stay, but not anymore. So he definitely should have known.

  • So can he sue USA for being unjustly returned?
It seems that should be an option. Sue USA through the embassy in Norway.
That way the NHS will have to show probable cause, and if they can't they have to pay compensation.

IDK if Norway has, but here in Denmark we do have warnings about traveling to USA now!
Some months ago this warning mostly regarded LGBT people, but here in June the warning has changed to regard everybody!!

be aware of the risk of terror, shootings and natural disasters.

Please note that you may be refused entry or be expelled from the United States if...

Simply don't go to USA unless you REALLY have to!

  • I think the F35 will quickly become obsolete, radar planes and cheaper jets to fire the load is probably a better combo.
The drone war in Ukraine has shown that different metrics work better than the old ones.

Also we want better European jets to be developed instead of helping USA finance their developments. And since we can't trust USA anymore, it's not a good idea to allow them to have a kill switch.

  • How is it similar if Ukraine see preventing Iran from having nukes as a legitimate target?
Ukraine gave up their nukes against guarantees that USA would help protect them.
Then Russia invades anyway in 2014, Because they want Crimea.
And Obama says to Ukraine they are on their own.
Then in 2022 Russia invade again, despite Ukraine is not in any way threatening Russia.
And Biden makes some half-assed support for Ukraine, giving them support, but only just enough to maintain a stalemate.

It is clearly no wonder why Ukraine want USA to make good on their promise, but USA is a shit country you can't rely on. It's n0ot just Trump, it's actually 3 presidents, and 2 of them were democratic.

But there is no way you can claim Ukraine is parroting Russia in this, the difference is that Iran is trying to get nukes, and Ukraine gave up theirs for protection.
But clearly the advice to Iran must be to get those nukes as fast as they freakingly can, because they can't trust Israel and USA to not attack unless they have them.

  • there are 83% more condo sellers than buyers in the market.

Still, home prices have continued to rise,

There seems to be some sort of timeline problem, it's even often reported on, but apparently nobody is trying to fix it?!

  • The regulation is such an insane patchwork, sometimes people can retire earlier than the normal retirement age, if they've been working for many years. And if you health is bad there are special programs for that. (Yes as in multiple!)
But clearly as you state, the system is made to benefit the rich more an more. The social democrats who are part of the government are no longer looking after the average Joe, but making things worse, and then they make special programs for propaganda purposes.
A lot of people have been convinced this is necessary, as life expectancy increases, disregarding increased automation and wealth in our society.
