  • Well here stairways also need to be usable in case of emergency, especially fire. Everything has fire codes that must be observed, we frigging don't call a stairway an emergency stairway just because it's legal. AFAIK even if you have 3, they ALL need to be according to safety protocols.
Also AFAIK we need to have at least 2 "emergency" stairways already above 2 floors.

  • We (Denmark) helped USA in both Iraq and Afghanistan. In Afghanistan we even had the highest rate of fatal casualties among allies, compared to the size of our population.
Now we are not buying American made defense equipment anymore, apart from contracts already signed, and we are working to get rid of Microsoft in government organizations and public services.
Many European countries are doing the same, no more helping the American military industrial complex, or the American government when they have an F35 program with budget overruns. Which we actually did when we signed our F35 contract with USA.

  • What? How was Mozilla ever in any kind of OS integrated way in bed with Google?
Google was just the default search engine in their browser. That's it, and it's dead easy to change the default search engine in Firefox.

Why are you making a completely false equivalence, to make Mozilla look bad? Also Firefox is open source, so Mozilla even lets you use a fork, with all the functionality of Firefox with whatever you don't like changed.

  • Did he ever hear about DNA evidence, that shows without a doubt that all humans are the same species?
Not only that, we are a species of very little variance! Especially considering how widespread across the globe we are.

But he was probably Christian, and thinks DNA evidence is false, because it doesn't confirm his racist views.

  • Too bad USA doesn't help Ukraine instead. USA even promised they would, when Ukraine gave up their nuclear arsenal!
Even under Biden the help was only halfhearted. The amount was significant, but the abilities of the equipment Ukraine was allowed to get was very restricted. Obama too wasn't any help in 2014 either, and let Russia take Crimea without issue!
It's not just Trump and republicans who are guilty of making USA untrustworthy. Democrats are part of the problem too.
We need to kick USA out of NATO, and invite other including non Atlantic democracies to join instead. USA has stated they are not sure they will honor article 5 (The musketeer article), and if they won't, they cannot be part of NATO anymore. Because that's the whole purpose of NATO.

  • Buildings with just one emergency exit stairway are capped at three stories in San Francisco. Anything taller requires two stairwells.

That text makes little sense, because if there is only one stairway, that's the friggin stairway, and not an "emergency" stairway.
I know most American buildings have elevators even if they only have 2 floors, but it's weird to call a stairway that is often faster to use, when it's just a few floors, an "emergency" stairway, just because it's the only option when the elevator doesn't work.

Especially if the elevator and stairway are in connected shafts, it's quite obviously not enough to only have 1 stairway, there needs to be a 2nd stairway with it's own separate shaft in case of fire, because you can't jump out the windows at 4 stories height.

  • AFAIK the Arc B580 is better and cheaper than the 8GB RX 9060, better as in faster in part because it has 12 GB RAM.
So right now B580 is probably the best value for money budget card.

I really hope Intel will continue to make Graphics cards, but it doesn't look so good.

  • Europe AND North America.
Nuclear war was as much a threat against North America as it was against Europe.
USA was also attacked by Japan in WW2, so USA too could conceivably be attacked again.

EU was to created in huge part to maintain peace in Europe.

  • Exactly, but remember to subtract VAT from prices in Sweden when comparing to American prices. Americans always state prices without VAT.
I really doubt it's that much more expensive in Sweden than in Denmark, especially because some of the dealers are the same.
Also remember to state if it's the 16GB card, the 8GB is not a good purchase anymore.

  • Well yes and no, The RX 6600 is a 4-5 year old card, and absolutely low end by today's standards.
I'm not saying that to be arrogant, because I use a 6600 XT myself. And it works OK for me. Because I mostly play retro games.
But if you look at reviews of the 9600 XT, the 6650 XT which is slightly better than 6600, is the bottom of the charts if it's even included, at typical framerates more than 50% below the 16 GB 9600 XT.
So yes you can get cheaper cards, but the price is higher per FPS. Maybe except for the Intel Arc B580.
You can also get the 9600 XT in a cheaper 8 GB version, but that is STRONGLY warned against, because for some new games, performance fall off a cliff with only 8GB!
So the 8 GB Radeon RX 9600 XT is not even recommended as an entry level card!

But to be honest, I was positively surprised when I saw the 16 GB version is only $380 (USD) here in Denmark. Because that's actually cheaper than what I paid for the 6600 XT when it came out. Back then that was $450 USD, and by far the best option on cost per fps.

Prices have been crazy, but they are actually somewhat normalizing now.

  • If it's too much chaos for you, you need to buy a bunch of crystals, and place them in strategic places on your body, and let the crazy flow through you.
This way you adapt to your surroundings, and everything will make sense without even thinking about it. And you definitely don't want to read scientific papers, they will just confuse you.

Hallelujah to the brave new world.

  • AFAIK it's not uncommon for a small upstart company for instance, to rely on friends, because friendship helps working together.
I know it can smell a bit like nepotism, and we know that's bad.
But there are actual good reasons people prefer to work with people they know. So I think it will be just fine, as long as you are not fighting over the same girl. And as long as you are not trying to exploit the friendship to gain advantages at work.

  • The headline is untrue. That's just propaganda for the Russian people. The truth comes a bit down the article:

The war in Ukraine has become existential for the Kremlin.

Problem for Putin is he can't admit defeat, because it will probably mean the end for him.
There is no way the Russian administration can still think they can wear Europe down.
They thought so initially with the gas, limiting supplies to show Europe the consequences of helping Ukraine.
Now it's pretty obvious that Russia was depending way more on European money than we were dependent on Russian gas.
The cost for Europe aiding Ukraine is peanuts compared to the resources we are allocating to build stronger military force in Europe now.
Russia is practically broke already, and the government is essentially cannibalizing everything they can. so they have very few resources to build their economy, and no good options to borrow. Every major branch of the Russian economy is running at deficits. The government, banks/finance, the entire energy sector, Weapons industry. Agricultural production is failing, and industries in general are wearing down, because they can't afford to invest, because profits are low and interests are high. The government can't afford to maintain infrastructure, so literally almost everything is being worn down now because of the war.
There will also be very little help from outside. So the Russian economy will suck for a really long time after the war, and it will probably take more than 2 decades just to get back to where they were before the war. And EU has decided to continue boycotts even after the war.

There is no way the Russian administration and Putin don't know these things, and they also know that the countries that support Ukraine have nowhere near similar problems, and Ukraine too is doing way better than Russia. With lower inflation and interest rates, better government finances, and industries that actually make money.

Russians have only recently begun to feel the effect of the war on their dinner tables, but the harvest this year is predicted to be way below average for many reasons like using lower quality seeds, worker shortages, and poorly functioning infrastructure.
So Russians can look forward to wildly increased food prices, in part due to inflation, and in part due to failing harvest.

Russians are said to have high capacity for suffering, and they are going to need that.

So really? How likely is it that Russia truly still is on a "break Ukraine and exhaust the west strategy"?
Isn't it more likely just propaganda? And the administration just doesn't know what else to do to survive a little longer.
