So there is definitely a population. It is actually a quite popular community on its own on the whole platform with 2.28K users / week and 3.56K users / month. You can see it on https://lemmyverse.net/communities?order=active, it's in the top 50, and only being dedicated on movies content.

Subscribers don't really mean much if there is no activity. As we can see from this poll, there has only been 36 votes so far.

Most of the people have already moved to !showsandmovies@lemm.ee, which has 2k users per month compared to 531 here.

How long would you like to keep the poll open? We can at least keep it for 48 hours and review later, I'll edit the post.

Also, there are at least different posters, and commenters seem different as well. Mod teams are also different, quite a few people are only interested in movies and not shows and vice versa

Mostly discussion splintering. You would see the same article posted across two or three communities, some people will only see one of them, when there were interesting comments they were replying to on the other ones
