A sorcerer appears and states that they will erase any one song from existence - which song would you choose?
  • Jesse's Girl. My high school used it daily in an ad for some bullshit they wanted to sell, and my first 10 working years they had a radio on wherever I worked on one of three stations depending, all of which play that song at least (at least) once a day every day. (That's at least daily and sometimes twice a day exposure to that garbage song for 14 years straight for anyone counting.)

If I hear it come on I will leave the room, and I'll be back in 3:14. Idgaf where I am. If I have the aux (it won't be played, but if it somehow does) I'm changing it. If I hit the lotto I'm buying the rights so nobody can play it on the radio and taking it off streaming so I can lessen the likelihood of exposure. I'll put it for free on itunes or some shit and never strike pirates but for the love of god please don't play it near me!

Btw I've never been charged to look at a phone and I have two pixels, assuming their claim is accurate either the other poster was being scammed or they were buying it online and the online store wanted a deposit to prevent theft or cover damages before shipping it so they could "see it" (which isn't something I've ever heard of but I suppose it is possible.) Either way I doubt it has much to do with the pixel itself, but I could be wrong I suppose, it has happened before.

Even if we get rid of him, every single oppositional candidate to the Ds is now "the next Trump" in perpetuity. • Lol exactly, you've never heard someone say that, as annoying as "omg you don't eat bacon bro?!" is.

Conversely, my previous comment was removed by a mod 3 days after it was posted, because I accused vegans of being more annoying through moral crusades against anyone who lives their life differently than them. Seems they also are so fragile they can't take accurate yet humorous constructive criticisms and don't like being told that they act like the christians (just shy of mormons, no vegan missionaries at my door yet...). Well, add censorship to that pile of similarities. When you guys gonna start burning meat based cookbooks? "Rule 5?" • Domino's or Pizza Hut?
  • Well, I prefer local, but out of the given options Domino's. I used to work at Pizza Hut, the dough comes in prefrozen disks in a box. I also used to smoke a lot of weed in a Domino's when my friend was managing (I'd get off delivering at my local and roll over and "help close their store" lol) and they ran shit so much better.

  • ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 09/25/2024

My Bad Escape From Peculiar Island #5 - Last one in this dumb ass series lol, why not.

Helen Of Wyndhorn #5 - This series has been good, I kinda hope it gets picked up.

Batman The Long Halloween The Last Halloween #1 - I guess I'm going to pick this up, but I haven't read the first series.

Lobo Cancellation Special #1 - Idk much about Lobo but this looks alright.

Creepshow Volume 3 #1 - It's here! The first two were so good! Need more. MORE!

Drawing Blood #6 - Tbh I've been slacking on this one but I'm still picking it up, I'll get to it.

Universal Monsters Frankenstein #2 - Really dug the first one, I'll keep picking this up.

Dick Tracy #5 - Dick Tracy rules! I need to buy a yellow trenchcoat for no reason.

Deadpool Team-Up #2 - Deadpool & Dragons™ I guess. Pretty weird but I'm giving it a shot. I'm not usually into marvel but I do like old Deadpool (and & Cable) and I think I'm gonna pick up whatever Deadpool Liefeld does, probably not any other stuff though (though I heard Scott Aukermann wrote one and I would like to find that lol).

Looks like that's it for me! Fucking hyped about Creepshow! What're you guys picking up?

Falling In Love On The Path to Hell

Howdy partners, got a weird western y'all might want to partake in here.

Falling In Love On The Path To Hell is a new ongoing comic series being released by Image Comics currently. Issue #4 came out last week, and reprints of 1, 2, and 3 are coming out next Wednesday (10/02/2024). If you're looking for physical copies, here's a site that will help you find your nearest local comic book stores.

The basic story so far, is MacRaith (that handsome devil up front with two Colt Navy 1851 revolvers) and Asami (that beautiful Samurai in the background) die, and wash up with the corpse tide on the shores of Purgatory. They're "alive" however, and get recruited to fight the hordes of hell (who come out every night when the river Styx dries up) by a strange Sikh named Mohan (that feller there with the sun for an eye). Things, however, may not be as they seem, nor how they're presented by Mohan, time will tell...

Content warning: Mature Audiences only. "Sexual violence" has been (almost, it was prevented) depicted already.

ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 09/18/2024

New list is up! Let's see what we got this week..

    Graveyard Club #1 - R. L. Stein, let's go!

Batman Day 2024 - Batman Elmer Fudd Special Noir #1 - What in the fuck is this? I'll have to get it, it's too insane not to.

Batman Day 2024 Batman The Long Halloween #0 - Heard this Long Halloween series rules, I need to read it, hopefully it gets a reprint about nowish..

Batman Day 2024 Batman The Long Halloween #1 - Well we're part way to a reprint, but I need all of em!

Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees TP - Alright I'm probably not picking this up because I have both the A and B covers of all the singles (not my usual MO), but I'm adding it as an honorable mention because if you don't have it yet you should 100% check this out at least. It's basically cute Richard Scarry style art with anthropomorphic animals, but the lead character is a serial killer. Huge problems arise in her world, can she stop it or not? I won't say, you'll have to read it to find out. I hope this gets picked up for more issues more than anything else out right now.

Falling In Love On The Path To Hell #4 - This series rules so far! Glad it's an ongoing now.

Ice Cream Man #41 - The series responsible for getting me into comics in the first place. It's like a sad song you can't stop listening to, or a bruise that you can't stop poking, it's depressing but so good. I like how they play with the format, like the issue that was a crossword puzzle, and the one that was all palindromes and could be read both front to back and back to front. This one looks to be a James Bond parody.

Moon Is Following Us #1 - I know nothing about this but it looks interesting.

Tin Can Society #1 - Might pick this up, the cover is intriguing.

Epitaphs From The Abyss #3 - Well issue 2 was better, but it's still no Creepshow. I'll continue it for one more at least. Looks like there's two new EC titles coming out soon too, a new SuspenStories and a new Weird Fantasy, both called something else but similar, of course.

Looks like that's it for me, what're you pulling this week?

ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 09/11/2024

Into The Unbeing Part One #4 - End of the road for this one. It's been interesting so far, some spelunkers going into a "cave" that may actually be a "head of some giant creature." I'm actually one behind but I'm going to read it here in a minute, just picked it up.

Groo Minstrel Melodies #1 - Idk much about Groo but I did read Mad back in the day, so I'm grabbing this.

Time Waits #1 - Idk much but DSTLRY stuff is usually worth a look.

Batman Gotham By Gaslight The Kryptonian Age #4 - This one has been alright so far.

Space Ghost #5 - Zorak is here! I love Zorak lmao, I can't stop thinking about The Brak Show and Space Ghost Coast to Coast while reading this and tbh it's a big reason if why I'm reading it haha.

Ain't No Grave #5 - End of the road. This series has been great, I like these weird westerns.

Geiger #6 - Hooray for Barney!

Precious Metal #4 - This series is weird as shit and I like the art.

That's it for me this week, what about you?

    1
    Subscription issues?

Anyone else having an issue where they have to resubscribe to a community every time the app closes? For some reason in eternity it keeps unsubbing me from !c/comicbooks@lemmy.world every time the app restarts itself, and I have to go resubscribe. None of this actually affects my account, I guess, because when I sign in with other apps I'm still subbed to it, eternity just removes it from my subs on boot and won't show the content in my subscriptions feed. Is there any way to fix this?

GoCollect Blog: ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 09/04/2024

New list is up! Sorry I'm a day later than usual, I was "really sick" yesterday (totally not hungover if my boss is reading this!)

Let's see, decent list for me this week:

Animal Pound #5 - Last in this series, it's been great! A modern retelling of Animal Farm by George Orwell

Minor Arcana #1 - Jeff Lemire back at it after the conclusion of Fishflies. Flishflies rules, this sounds like it'll follow the trend. A woman who's mom is a psychic (but she never believed that much) has to move back home and take over the family business (or something like that). Turns out there may be something to it after all...

Dawnrunner #5 - End of the road for this too but I hope it gets picked up, eldritch kaiju vs mechs with consciousness and pilots.

Helen Of Wyndhorn #4 - This series has been great too. Helen's father, a writer, dies and she has to move back into her grandfather's palatial estate. Turns out the fae world her dad wrote "fiction" about is anything but, and she has been traveling through it with her grandfather doing stuff.

Plastic Man No More #1 - Idk much about Plastic Man but I've heard it's funny, I'll give it a shot.

Blood Brothers Mother #2 - Good western! I'm definitely going to finish this one out.

Cruel Universe #2 - The first one was great, hope that continues!

Well looks like that about wraps it up for me. Pretty excited about all of these! What're you pulling?

ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 08/28/2024

New list is up! Good one for me this week!

Batman Off-World #5 - This is still running? Bout damn forgot about this one!

Convert #1 - "Science Officer Orrin Kutela finds himself stranded on a distant planet, starving and haunted by the ghosts of his dead crew. On the verge of death, he makes an astonishing discovery. Veteran writer John Arcudi (Rumble, B.P.R.D.) and illustrator Savanna Finley bring you a sci-fi/fantasy comic like no other." Sounds interesting enough!

Drawing Blood #5 - Drawing Blood! Raining Blood plays. Kevin Eastman rules.

Sacrificers #11 - Sacrificers! Pigeon has been fucking shit up, Soluna is having a rough time, can't wait to see what this issue brings!

Universal Monsters Frankenstein #1 - The Creature reboot was good, I'll try this one too.

    What're you pulling?

    4
ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 08/21/2024

Fresh list is up! Looks like a short one for me this week but that's ok!

My Bad Escape From Peculiar Island #4 - This one is stupid and weird and I've been digging it, Thomas Jefferson vs some guy lmao.

Epitaphs From The Abyss #2 - This one I was so excited for the first issue but instead of having good stories it felt like it was just preaching to me sponsored by the DNC. It doesn't matter if I agree with many of the "lessons" they were trying to "teach me" either, it felt very condescending in a "hello fellow kids" way like some kind of food pyramid comic from the 90s. And the icing on the cake is the goddamn "weird fantasy" reboot Cruel Universe had "scarier" stories than this "horror" reboot! I'm going to give it another issue or two but this might get dropped pretty fast.

Standstill #1 - Not gonna lie I'm only slightly interested in this but since there's not much else for me this week I may check it out. Guy steals a time stopping device and commits crimes, the inventor has to stop him. Could be good though, we'll see!

That's it for me, what's on your lists this week?

    Help burning CDs?

I'm having an issue trying to burn a music CD for use in my (very old, I know I know) car. I'm running FedoraKDE (40) and Brasero, a Liteon brand external optical DVDRW drive, CD-R (TDK brand), and a Framework 16.

The issue I'm having seems to be that the blank disks(maybe?) aren't recognized automatically by Fedora, when I pop a full commercially released CD in it'll play/rip, but with a blank disk nothing happens, and I don't know where to "save" the "image" of this album I'm creating in Brasero to get it on the disk.

Someone on a random linux forum told some other guy to run cdrecord -checkdrive which says my drive is at /dev/sr0 with a blank disk, but that's as far as I've gotten. Do I choose sr0 as the place to save it? It says "something something overwrite" when I try which makes me wary, it seems it wants to overwrite "sr0" itself and either bork my drive or install, but maybe?

I'm positive it's just something simple I'm missing, any help would be greatly appreciated and I can answer questions and run commands if needed (but I don't actually have WIFI rn, so I'll have to have the package for said command already.)

    Thanks in advance.

    Current best lemmy clients

Hey I figured I'd make a post and see the state of current lemmy appage, since I'm looking for a good one. So far I've used Jerboa, Thunder, Eternity, and Voyager.

Eternity seems to be a dead project, it's full of bugs and hasn't recieved an update since The Exodus

Thunder seems ok and is what I'm using right now, but I can't seem to send direct messages, and can't "Don't blur NSFW preview on NSFW comms" which sucks. The messaging is the dealbreaker for me.

Voyager I used momentarily but the UI was not my favorite.

Jerboa seems OK if unpolished (which is ok to me) but I don't trust the rabid idealogue that makes it and using another instance of his site is one thing, but installing an app is another. Has it been audited to confirm lack of spyware?

Ideally through this I can find one with instance blocking, DMs, and a decent UI. What're your experiences with the current state of lemmy apps?

ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 08/14/2024

List is up! Come amd get it!

From The World Of Minor Threats Barfly #2 (Of 4)(Cover B Evan Dorkin) - Our protagonist Shiteater is back in issue #2! And I love Evan Dorkin.

Into The Unbeing Part One #3 - This has been weird, I like weird.

Batman Gotham By Gaslight The Kryptonian Age #3 - Some decent Batman so far. Idk what elseworlds is actually, but this is that.

From The DC Vault Death In The Family Robin Lives #2 (Of 4) -Great old Batman! Need more classic rereleases like this, I've missed all of them.

Falling In Love On The Path To Hell #3 - This book is fucking cool. No two ways about it. So cool in fact it's now billed as "Your new favorite ongoing" by Image, looks like it has been extended, and I'm here for it! Issue #5's teaser says "This series is stabby, shooty, and horny, and you know you need it," and that's a pretty good summary lol.

Geiger #5 - Super Fallout Man vs The Cannibals in a quest to save his dog. Let's go! Get your dog back buddy!

Precious Metal #3 (Little Bird Series) - Issue #1 was actually my intro to the Little Birdiverse, but I now have all the back issues. I think I'm going yo finish out Precious Metal since iirc it is a prequel, and then start on Little Bird.

Dick Tracy #4 - Been digging this one.

That's it for me this week, what's on your list?

    3
    Way to log start up?

Is there a way to log all the stuff on start up to a text file so I can read it? It goes by way too fast! Mine shows some blue warnings but I can't read them.

To be clear I mean the part that explains what is starting or failing, like if you hit [ESC] during start up or don't have plymouth, not the plymouth splash screens.

ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 08/07/2024

List is up! Short one for me, but that's all good!

Lester Of The Lesser Gods #3 - Last one of the series, this one is truly stupid, but it gets at least one good laugh out of me every issue so far

Ain't No Grave #4 - This series is great, dying cowboy lady on the way to kill death.

Space Ghost #4 - Space Ghost rules! I wish there was a fake funny letters column in the style of Space Ghost Coast to Coast but can't win em all.

EC Cruel Universe #1 - It's here. I was actually pretty disappointed by the first Epitaphs of the Abyss, I'm gonna give them both a few issues, but I hope it gets a bit better. As for Epitaphs if it stays the same I'll just stick to Creepshow (which is amazing and getting a Vol 3 this fall!) so no love lost!

That's it for me, what's on your lists?

    7
ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 07/31/2024

End of month list is up! Small one for me but that's ok!

Operation Sunshine Already Dead #4 - Final issue of this run. Will there be another? Who knows but if there is I'll get it. Love the LPOTL crew's stuff, they also did Soul Plumber but I like this series better, I'll get whatever they do next.

William Of Newbury #3 - Loving this series! Based off an actual dude of a similar name, the series follows an anthropomorphized raccoon priest traveling and ridding the countryside of demons and foul spectres. The art is great imo, sort of reminds me of the old PSP game Death Jr, but like almost watercolored.

Drawing Blood #4 - Kevin Eastman rules. This series isn't about turtles but it's still pretty interesting so far!

Honorable mention to Falling In Love on the Path to Hell (3rd print). It's getting a 3rd for a reason, it's damn good! A cowboy and a cool lady samurai die and wash up in purgatory together, what's not to love? Cool art, good writing, and O'Hallorhan colors!

Well that's it for me! What're y'all grabbing this week?

    2

ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 07/24/2024

New list! Good week for me, I'm all in on a few of these:

Minor Threats II The Fastest Way Down #4 - Love Patton Oswalt, and Scott Hepburn's world building is cool as hell.

Sacrificers #10 - Love this series. Not all in on Rick Remender but this series is damn good. Pigeon is whooping ass.

Six Fingers #5 - Last issue of this one, been a good run combined with The One Hand

Universal Monsters Creature From The Black Lagoon Lives #4 -

Dick Tracy #3 - These new Dick Tracy comics have been pretty decent.

EC Epitaphs From The Abyss #1 - It's here! I've been waiting for this and Cruel Universe! New EC Horror and SF anthologies! I tried to put it on my list back when it was announced and my shop said "shove it it's too early" lol. I hope there's an Abyss-Keeper!

    What're you pulling?

ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 07/17/2024

My Bad Escape From Peculiar Island #3 - It's dumb as shit, so so dumb, but so am I lol. It's funny though.

Man's Best #5 - Not so dumb, pretty great actually. Space travel through the eyes of some cybernetic pets, a zoo world, and some double crossery?! We'll find out in this issue what's up with that I'm sure!

Powerpuff Girls #1 - Ok I usually hate anything based on a previous IP, (this is a shining example of the type of thing I mean) but goddamn I loved PPG growing up. Someone talk me out of picking this up please.

Fishflies #7 - This is the end my friends. Been a great series, can't wait for the conclusion.

Remote Space #2 - #1 was good, not sure I'll stick it out for the rest but I'll try it again. Basically the plot is human evolution took two paths, one cybernetics and space travel and the other FEV from fallout and terrestrial livin', and there's about to be a war on.

Rifters #2 - I like Posehn, not sure I'll finish this one either though.

Biker Mice From Mars #1 - Oh jeez, another cartoon from my childhood?! Someone save me from myself!

For real though can someone call Danny Antonucci and tell him now's the time to publish "Ed's Comics" and make all the comics Ed would have been reading?!

Anyway that's it for me this week, what're y'all pullin'? And seriously someone talk me out of PPG and Biker Mice lmao.

ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 07/10/2024

This weeks list! Come and get it! Big one for me:

Dawnrunner #4 - Been loving this series so far, giant mechs vs eldritch kaiju but the mechs are somehow more than just mechs.

From The World Of Minor Threats Barfly #1 - You can bet if it says "Minor Threats" it's on my pull list. Been waiting for this one! Barfly is a punk dude who looks like he got Jeff Goldblumed ala The Fly. So far only really a background character, I look forward to him getting his own series.

Batman Gotham By Gaslight The Kryptonian Age #2 - Batman's alright.

From The DC Vault Death In The Family Robin Lives #1 - I do like Batman, and Mike Mignola

Ain't No Grave #3 - Scottie Young does it again

Falling In Love On The Path To Hell #2 - missed #1 but this looks good

Geiger #4 - Super-Fallout is pretty good so far

I Hate Fairyland Compendium Volume 1 The Whole Fluffing Tale TP -The first series 1-20 in a convenient package

Ice Cream Man #40 - pt 2 of the car crash issue, the other car's perspective.

Precious Metal #2 - I like the art in these a lot.

    What are you pulling?

List is out! Small one for me which is good on the wallet for sure!

    Space Ghost #3

That's it lol. I was missing one in my box last week that should be there this week though, so there's that! What're you grabbing?

ComicList: New Comic Book Releases List for 06/26/2024

List is up! Let's see here..

Animal Pound #4 - Updated retelling of Animal Farm, it's fantastic.

Rare Flavours #6 - This is the end of the road. This book has been fantastic, the art is great and so is the writing. I believe it was the same team that did The Many Deaths Of Laila Starr and I'll be following these two if they team up again. Ram V also wrote The One Hand which is a great series too.

Blue Book 1947 #5 - I like cheesy alien stuff, sue me lol. It's about the history of UFOs in the US, aptly named. I already new most of it but they did teach me some new stuff too, and I like the B side stories in there. Last issue.

Lester Of Lesser Gods #2 - Silly fun

Operation Sunshine Already Dead #3 - LPOTL guys, basically vampire oceans 11, one issue after this, can't wait to see what they have next!

William Of Newbury #2 (Of 4) - Cute raccoon monk fights demons, what's not to love? Also, there was a real guy by this name in the middle ages but I don't think he was a demon fighting monk.

Sacrificers #9 - Man shit has been going down in this series.

Universal Monsters Creature From The Black Lagoon Lives #3 - I'm a nerd lol. I think they're doing all the Universal Monsters which I may or may not pick up.

w0rldtr33 #11 - Shit has been going down in this series too lol.

Whoo! A lot of shit but a lot of shit I've been waiting on. What's on your lists?
