TIL that in August, the Northern Texas District Court blocked the US FTC's ban on non-compete clauses set to be effective September
The FTC ruled to ban virtually all non-competes nationwide in April 2024.[16] The agency estimates 30 million workers are bound by these clauses and only excludes senior executives from the ban on enforcing non-competes.[16] The agency believes that this will allow workers to find better working conditions and pay, since switching companies, on average, provides the biggest pay raises.[17] It also allows workers to leave abusive work environments and can prevent some doctors from having to leave medicine once they leave a practice.[17] The ban was put on hold by U.S. District Judge Ada Brown on July 3, 2024, but then upheld on appeal by U.S. District Judge Kelley B. Hodge on July 23, 2024.[18][19] On August 20, 2024, a federal court in Texas overturned the FTC's ban on non-compete agreements, which was originally scheduled to take effect on September 4, 2024.[20] U.S. District Judge Ada Brown said the FTC did not have the authority to issue the ban, which she said was "unreasonab
People's Park in Berkeley, California is a parcel of land owned by the University of California, Berkeley. Located east of Telegraph Avenue and bound by Haste and Bowditch Streets and Dwight Way, People's Park was a symbol during the radical political activism of the late 1960s.[3][4][5][6] Formerly a park, the site is now under construction for new university student housing and homeless supportive housing.[7]
While the land is owned by the University of California, People's Park was de facto established as a public park on April 20, 1969, by local activists.[8] On May 13, University Chancellor Roger W. Heyns announced plans to construct a soccer field on the site, leading to a confrontation two days later between protesters and police on May 15.[9] Known as "Bloody Thursday", police used tear gas and opened fire on the protesters to quell the riot, resulting notably in the death of James Rector.[9] In 1984, the city of Berkeley declared it a historical and cultural landmark.[1

postmarketOS Wikipedia Page
Unlike many other projects porting conventional Linux distributions to Android phones, postmarketOS does not use the Android build system or userspace.[16] Each phone has only one unique package, and flashable installation images are generated using the pmbootstrap tool.[4] The project intends to support the mainline Linux kernel on all phones in the future, instead of the often outdated Android-specific fork, to reduce the potential for security exploits.[4] A few devices can boot into the mainline kernel already.[17][18] The project aims to support Android apps, originally through the use of Anbox, which was replaced by Waydroid since postmarketOS v21.12.[19][20]
Alpine Linux was chosen as the base distribution due to its low storage requirements, making it more suitable for older devices. 艾跃进（1958-2016），演讲家，军事学家，南开大学马克思主义学院教授、博士生导师，南开大学军事学科创始人，长期研究毛泽东军事思想，还参与国际形势和热点问题、口才学、礼仪学、成功学等方面的授课、演讲和教学研究。艾跃进早年在天津当过工人，从南开大学毕业后留校工作，54岁时，获得南开大学马克思主义教育学院博士学位。他的学术论文著作主要涵盖三个方面：军事与国际问题，军事课教学以及“礼仪”文化。著有《军事思想纵横谈》《毛泽东军事思想的历史地位和当代价值》《大学生实用口才学》等书籍 ；刻录有《公务员日常礼仪》(光盘)、《品行管理——人生成功的开始》[1]。
