A while back I forgot my charger on holiday and I used my Deck at night to charge my phone. The issue was that my Deck completely got its battery drained which led to the so called "black screen of death", where the deck would turn on (you can hear the power chime, fans start spinning, and the trackpads vibrate on input but the screen stays black - I am on the LCD version, not even the blacklight would turn on).

So l've been trying to play KOTOR 1 on the Deck recently but the PC version requires a lot of work to get it to play in widescreen and even once you have that working the controls are pretty awful. The PC version simply isn't designed with a controller in mind.

After that, I tried emulating the Xbox version, but that requires hex editing to get working properly as well, and runs quite poorly, lagging once you get to Taris and also doesn't look great.

My solution is to go a different way - Android emulation, using Waydroid.

To fix the 90hz/45fps issue please do the following 2 things.

1. Follow this guide for a robust FPS fix (no need for iPresentInterval). This will remove the hardcoded sync interval in the engine. And it will not break when settings are changed.
2. When you’re done with that, you should have a command in a command launcher. Now go and add SteamDeck=0 to the launcher (before %command%). This will give you an option to launch a game with the launcher where you can add settings.

look, i love valve as much as any other person around. they always pushed the industry forward, and i also consider steam deck to be the best gaming device made at present moment. but 3.5 steamos update release is... awful.

So you tried to play your Baldurs Gate 3 GOG version and you failed.

If you are stuck in the "You must install .NET Desktop..." window i have the solution for you.

First of all, this guide is for heroic launcher users, but it can be adapted to native wine users easily.

1. First, when the "You must install .NET Desktop..." window appears, click on yes and it sends you to the .NET download page. Just download the exe.
2. Now go back to heroic launcher and go to the Baldurs Gate config, click on WINECFG and, in the window that just opened, in the bottom under Windows Version, select: Windows 10 (THIS IS THE KEY PART). Apply and close the window.
