Garfield Minus Garfield was interesting because of the silly situations that came from the otherwise unmodified comics.
Maybe it's just me, but changing the dialog so that it makes sense without Heathcliff being there feels like it kind of takes away from the whole gimmick.
I would say more than being funnier the one way or the other, the point is to show that Heathcliff is not necessary for his own comic.
The comic shows a silly situation that does not change much with his presence. The cat is just there so people know this is a Heathcliff comic.
To my understanding, what people enjoy in these comics are the reoccurring characters, objects, and plot lines
Heathcliff, Heathcliff
No one should
Exist solely to brand their goods
I've been seeing these for ages and I have never understood what's funny about either the version with or without Heathcliff. It's quite bizarre to find something so far removed from my sense of humour that I don't get it even once.
It's nothing really. Heathcliff is a trash comic. The "jokes" are barely jokes. Maybe 1 in 20 get so much as an exhale out of me, let alone actual laughter.
In order to remove Heathcliff I occasionally need to change the text that refers to him to completely remove him. Otherwise there is a ghost of Heathcliff and that won't do.
If the text hadn't changed, I would have assumed it was the shop keeper yelling it at Yoda. 🤷🏻♂️
Fixed it for you:
Lol much better.
Kinda surprised it wasn't a hot dog. He was partial to them in Empire.
a fish dog from the fish market
for some reason, this is the first time, I had to think of "I'm Henry the eighth, I am"
