Yes... you have these pop culture U.S references the whole nation, if not the world, understauns (Seinfeld) and then you have these niche ones more localized, like this, that require you to be terminally online and western to ken... (Trueanon)
You've got to love a show that does a genocide-themed April Fool in the middle of an actual genocide! All I saw for TA was them laughing at people who were horrified by the thumbnail. Like it doesn't have its own demoralizing effect. And then the actual show was Brace defending hanging up an SS flag. Very cool!
At least Carl Beijer's April Fool made me click through to the actual joke (fake thumbnail, he's written for Jacobin so the infamous COMPACT mag would not be a surprise to me, but I guess he despises them, good joke).
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize the chipmunk soundeffect song that was playing instead of an actual interview was because it was an april fools joke.
I didn't even open it lmao because I saw the comments I think it's gross. I'm not trying to get all depressed!
I heard there was a sincere defense of the whole hanging up SS flag picture against haters etc at the end but maybe that was a rly fucked up april fools. Mea culpa I tend to put focus into things like how hundreds of thousands of people's lives being destroyed might finally stop rather than deciphering how jokes from people who are never funny work
