I'll have to start with walking and dieting to lose weight before I start running. I'll continue the diet while I run. My goal is to lose 50 lbs this year and increase my health overall.
I have been running half marathons in 2023, and though there's no speed improvement, the last race I didn't feel much pain and the recovery was much shorter. This is notable for me because I injured my ACL 10 years ago, and now my knee is better than ever since then.
I'll have to train more though, sub 2 hrs half marathon is still so far away 😅
After having a back injury that has kept me from running all year, I finally had surgery at the end of November.
2023: I have walked two ParkRuns (23rd and 25th December) since surgery.
2024: Run. I'm not allowed (surgeon's instructions) to run until at least March, but hopefully after that I'll be out of the gate like a Melbourne Cup winner!
This year fucking sucked for my running. I have been doing a running streak, took a heavy fall early in the year that had me limp running for a couple of weeks but was mostly OK. Then on day 889 of my streak I rolled my foot on a big root and clean snapped my 5th metatarsal.
I'm back to running now and it is all good but I've been concentrating more on other sports due to my general annoyance of being fucked by a root.
I started running this year! I couldn't even run a quarter mile when I started and my longest run this year was 9.2 miles. I'm training for a half marathon in April!
@qooqie Starting from couch, I ran a 10k race and then another five minutes faster, four month later. Hoping to get to under one hour mark by the end of 2024.
