The fire department said drivers should not park over leaves.
Anyone who has worked on the underside of a recently run car knows how hot the exhaust system gets. Second degree burn levels. I had heard decades before as a new driver not to ever park in places with high grass for this reason, and a dry leaf pile would be far more combustible.
just want to throw this link about other stories of cops starting fires with their cars. i was looking for a particular video, but i couldn't find it because of all the other videos of it happening.
Catalytic converters are 500-800F, and leaves combust around 750F I think
