Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Pro-Russian
https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
Just got off calls with my family in both Beirut and Damascus. The situation feels extremely tense right now. Our family house in Beirut is quite close to the Hezbollah areas south of Beirut, so the neighborhood will most likely be bombed in case shit escalates. My family in Damascus are maybe relocating to my cousin's farm outside of the city, just waiting to see how everything develops. Very odd feeling in my whole body right now, a mixture of sadness and some weird hope as well. Not liking this "being a part of history" thing tbh.
I really really despise the way discourse around humanitarian aid is framed.
Israel's genocide isn't some natural disaster. They are actively bombing, actively killing civilians.
And yet the debate is somehow about whether scraps of aid should be let in to mitigate some of the immeasurable suffering in Gaza. And then Israel or the US and its vassals block it, and somehow this is all fine, this is just a normal diplomatic disagreement here.
All of that is burying the lede. Can Israel not stop genociding civilians? Apparently not. That's not an option. In fact, we'll give them some more weapons to continue the slaughter.
A baby was found in an oven, baked to death by Hamas terrorists, leading Israeli first responder @EliBeerUH recounted to an @RJC gathering last night.
His group was among the first to respond to and witness the Oct 7 atrocities.
Babe wake up new atrocity propaganda just dropped. Actually cackling this is so fucking stupid if you believe this shit you need to be shot for your own good and more importantly for the good of society.
It's always interesting how jet pilots dropping bombs are never called terrorists, despite every single one of them being one. What difference is there between throwing a bomb by hand or throwing a bomb by gadget? The "civilized" approach just shields the perp from consequences of their actions, making them a cowardly terrorist as well.
bro I'm prooobing. bro. it's not a ground offensive bro. it's a limited incursion where we're probing. we're probers, bro. bro, we need to find the tunnels, and so we need to proooooobe
Pro-Palestine rally held in Berlin
Thousands have taken to streets in the German capital Berlin in support of Palestinians and to end the war in Gaza.
One of the posters at the rally accused Israel of “genocide”, while others voiced disapproval of the German government’s backing of Israel. People could be heard chanting “Viva, Viva Palestine” and “Free Palestine” during the demonstration.
The event was organised by an individual and operated under the banner of “Global South United,” according to the police.
The evil fuckers are going to bomb the hospital. The NYT is coming out and saying Israeli military sees it as a threat and they might also see it as a target.
Israel says Al Shifa hospital conceals underground Hamas command centers, which the group denies.
To people in Gaza, Al Shifa is the biggest and most advanced hospital around — a lifeline, in normal times, and now a place of refuge from relentless Israeli airstrikes.
More than 60,000 people are sheltering there. But to the Israeli military, it is a threat, and, perhaps, a target.
The U.S., wrecker of global peace and strangler of justice, can never evade the blame for having connived at and fostered Israel's hideous war crime that ruthlessly killed Palestinians.
It's interesting. Considering how Gaza is a city "ruthlessly ruled by Hamas" that, when you watch videos from the city itself, you don't actually see Hamas members or even armed people. Like nowhere, no technicals driving around with big DShKs, no people with AKs hanging walking around, nothing. It's just completely unarmed civilians rushing to the ambulances helping each other out. The city is continuously being bombed for having "Hamas targets" yet we barely get to see them in the streets...
I fucking hate Germany, I fucking hate Germans, dumbest fucking people on Earth, dumber than Americans by far, holy fucking shit. We truly never moved past the Nazis, it must seriously be in our blood that we just love genocide so fucking much. The people in this country actually still defend Israel, not even the American people are this fucking dumb and gullible to their state propaganda. Unironically posting takes such as "if we give food to the gazans then Hamas can focus on their terrorism" holy fuck.
I'm so fucking angry at this country, a country full of pathetic, genocidal maggots. Stalin should've flattened the entire state, the world would be better off for it.
Building vocational schools to juvenile offenders so they can integrate to larger society by getting educated - this is genocide
Moving orphans out of a warzone to orphanages where they can speak their own mother tongue, and where the orphans will get elementary education - this is clearly genocide
Building a giant open air prison for an ethnic group, depriving them of water, food, and medicine, then bombing them inordinately, murdering children - this is not genocide, it's just a rational political response to an unusual situation
Azov batallion dude with the callsign Adolf from the SS brigade - not a Nazi
A literal Waffen-SS volunteer from WW2 - not a Nazi
Greta Thunberg - she is a Nazi because she has a stuffed octopus fluffy toy
Wolfsangel, Black Sun, Totenkopf - not a symbol of antisemitism
Pink octopus toy - a clear symbol for antisemitism
Did I get this right? This is what liberals think?
spoiler
I'm basically just taking notes, because the mental gymnastics we've witnessed over the past few years have been truly astounding. I might read these back in a few months. We will definitely see more of this shit by the end of the year.
Palestinian resistance groups expect Israel to flood Hamas tunnels with nerve gas and chemical weapons under the surveillance of US Delta Force commandos as part of a surprise attack on the Gaza Strip, a senior Arab source familiar with the groups told Middle East Eye.
Israel and the US hope to achieve the element of surprise in order to penetrate Hamas tunnels, rescue an estimated 220 hostages, and kill thousands of soldiers belonging to Hamas’s al-Qassam Brigades, the source said in a statement, noting that the information comes from a leak originating in the US. Middle East Eye cannot independently verify the information in the leak. “The plan hinges on the element of surprise so as to decisively win the battle, using internationally forbidden gases, particularly nerve gas, and chemical weapons. Large quantities of nerve gas would be pumped into the tunnels,” the source said.
US Delta Force will oversee “large quantities of nerve gas being pumped into Hamas tunnels, capable of paralyzing the bodily movement for a period of time between six and 12 hours." "During this period, the tunnels would be penetrated, the hostages rescued and thousands of al-Qassam soldiers killed,” they added.
Yeah dude, it'll be like, pew pew pew! Arghh! Another hundred dead terrorists! Wham! Kaboom!
watching the various US special forces become increasingly moronic is really entertaining
Al Jazeera and especially OG Arabic Al Jazeera provides literally the most brave and real journalism in the whole world right now. American and European newspapers and TV channels are worth less than fucking dust at this point.
Nahal Oz (Hebrew: נַחַ"ל עֹז, lit. "Mighty Stream" or "Mighty Nahal") is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located in the northwestern part of the Negev desert close to the border with the Gaza Strip
Ok what’s Nahal mean?
Nahal (Hebrew: נח"ל) (acronym of Noar Halutzi Lohem, lit. Fighting Pioneer Youth[1]) is a program that combines military service with mostly social welfare and informal education projects such as youth movement activities... Prior to the 1990s it was a paramilitary Israel Defense Forces program that combined military service and the establishment of agricultural settlements, often in peripheral areas.
The Nahal group (Hebrew: גרעין נחל) is a form of community service developed in Israel, which combines social volunteerism, agriculture and military service. The service is divided into several parts:
The national mission period lasts a year, in which all the core group stays together, under the command of the Education and Youth Corps. During the establishment of the state, the national mission was mostly the establishment of new settlements in periphery areas (by means of Nahal settlements)
What’s a Nahal settlement?
The goal for every Nahal settlement was to become a civilian settlement and serve as a first line of defense against potential future Arab invasions while providing a base of operations and resources for military forces operating in peripheral regions.
The first Nahal settlement was Nahal Oz located in the northwestern Negev desert close to the border with the Gaza Strip.
So these settlements near to Gaza that were targeted are explicitly hybrid military-civilian installations. Militarized communes of military trained populations with the explicit purpose of being the front line of Israeli colonial expansion.
Former German leader Schroeder divulges more detail on thwarted Russia-Ukraine peace dealbne intelliNews
We are getting more and more corroborating evidence that the peace deal in March-April 2022 was real, and painted US/NATO as the party behind that denied the deal from moving forward because some wanted to use the opportunity to weaken Russia.
I recommend reading the linked article because there are a lot more details in this story, but the most interesting part I want to point out is this:
According to Schroeder the deal would have included the following main aspects:
Ukraine would abandon its Nato aspirations;
The bans on the Russian language in Ukraine would be removed;
Donbass would remain in Ukraine but as an autonomous region (Schroeder: "Like South Tyrol");
The United Nations Security Council plus Germany should offer and supervise the security agreements; and
The Crimea problem would be addressed.
Honestly this sounds like a very good deal for Ukraine considering what they are going through today. All the blood shed since can now be firmly laid on the hands on US and NATO imperialism at this point.
Adam Johnson on Bernie's recent senate speech about Gaza.
"Humanitarian pause" for a few hours so we can get some water and food into Gaza before Israel goes right back to bombing them is an illogical, chickenshit demand. OxFam, Amnesty, MSF and dozens of aid and human rights orgs are demanding a CEASEFIRE. Why wont Sanders join them?
(This is a rhetorical question, the answer is because Sanders supports the Israeli bombing and siege he just wants it to be a bit nicer around the margins)
The obsession with "innocent civilians" is infuriating. No interest in the reality that every war results in massive civilian casualties. No interest or awareness that Palestinian's don't have the luxury of precision weapons (which still kill tons of civilians). Not even the hint of the concept that maybe settlers aren't non-combatant civilians due to the specific circumstances of the Israeli state and it's mode of conquest. No awareness or interest that Israel is a heavily militarized state (Human shields!).
Just "These people trying to save themselves from genocide are illegitimate because they killed civilians".
And this standard is never applied except to the designated enemy.
Whatever happens, the world owes Palestinians a debt we can never repay. Gaza was a testing ground for surveillance and counterinsurgency worldwide, a laboratory in which the ruling class devised increasingly violent means of separating themselves from their subjects. October 7th shattered the illusion of an invincible, low-cost and high-tech military occupation. The goal was always to build more Gazas to manage refugee and homeless populations, Operation Al-Aqsa Flood has delayed that future indefinitely.
Do I feel sorry for them? No. They killed and injured my friends, they want to kill me every day. I don't feel sorry for them. Although, for the most part, the people who stand against us are not rabid Nazis, but ordinary Hataskrayniks who were forcibly driven to slaughter.
But if you look at everything in its entirety, it was they who brought Ukraine to its current state. That same silent majority who don’t care about Bandera, or the Russians, or the USA - as long as their farm, kindergarten, pigs are not touched, as long as they don’t run out of vodka and lard, and at least the grass doesn’t grow.
They didn’t care about the Maidan, about the shelling of Donetsk and Lugansk, about the genocide of the Russian population, about the murders of children, women and the elderly, about Azov’s torture, about language bans, about the split in faith... And then it turned out that they couldn’t sit it out that you have to take a machine gun and die for the interests and goals of NATO.
And then they hated us, with a fierce, terrible hatred. Because their little farmstead world collapsed. Because this war reminds them every day of their cowardice, weakness and silence. And in their anger they blame us for everything, because they are afraid to look in the mirror and ask themselves uncomfortable questions.
And we, of course, will win. We know that. And they know it. And this makes them hate us even more.
Hasan dared to expose me to like 5 minutes of MSNBC coverage and it made me so viscerally angry. "Hamas has no credibility whatsoever" says this ass piece of shit who will later repeat IDF claims uncritically fuck you. Mainstream media are complicit in genocide and should be treated as such.
100% of the people who demand you condemn Hamas are a-ok with the US blowing away tens of thousands of civilians at Hiroshima and Nagasaki; and will get very angry if you suggest that it was not done because “it would have cost the US a million lives to conquer Japan because they will fight to the last man”.
Palestinian sources are saying Hamas have pushed up so far that they're engaging forces outside the strip.
Western sources are saying that thousands of Israeli soldiers are inside Gaza.
Complete fog of war has descended. I have basically no idea what is happening now. I'm more inclined to trust Palestinian sources but take it as you will.
⚡️🇪🇬 Vodafone in Egypt states that it will install cell towers in Rafah, Egypt, to allow Palestinians in Gaza to continue their coverage and document the atrocities that is ongoing as of now.
Interestingly, the U.S. sanctions seem to have inadvertently opened the doors of opportunity for SMIC. The restrictions imposed on TSMC, barring it from transacting with certain Chinese entities, have allowed SMIC to step in and capitalize on substantial orders. This shift has facilitated SMIC's enhancement of its manufacturing techniques and technological capabilities.
I hope they end up outperforming the US way faster than anyone expected
On a group chat with a bunch of american libs I kineticly engaged with western style propaganda and utilized fact based materielist ordinance. Enemy combatant posters were neutralized to the point of asking "well what would you do?"
Thank you news thread for providing a steady supply of wunderposten that has allowed establishment of a beach head on an otherwise perfectly smooth surface.
On the last RWN episode John made an interesting point, that many if not most of the recent famous urban and/or guerrilla battles have seen the aggressor use proxy forces or some kind of expendable troops to do the boots on the ground work.
For example, in Vietnam/Korea the US used the south Vietnamese/south Koreans, in fallujah and mosul the Americans had Iraqi/peshmeera/militia troops, in mariupol the Russians had DPR troops, in bakhmut the Russians used Wagner prison conscripts, and Russia supported the battle of aleppo from the air while on the ground work was done by various militias and government forces.
In contrast, the IDF is flying solo, with nobody but Israelis to die for the cause of genocide. Considering how precious Israel treats IDF sperm, this can't help but change the calculus.
I'm looking forward to the day when the US Empire crumbles to fucking dust, and it and its allies get to pay for all the death and destruction they've caused over the last century. It will be bittersweet, and the least they'll deserve.
it seems that Israel's offensive has begun... reminds me of this quote:
"The mask of humanity fall from capital. It has to take it off to kill everyone -- everything you love; all the hope and tenderness in the word. It has to take it off, just for one second. To do the deed."
Israeli official says will fight Starlink’s deployment in Gaza
The minister of communications has said Israel will “use all means at its disposal to fight” the use of Elon Musk’s Starlink to support connectivity for aid groups in Gaza.
Posting on X, Shlomo Khari said if the Starlink satellite internet is deployed “Hamas will use it for terrorist activities”.
“There is no doubt about it, we know it, and Musk knows it,” he wrote.
“Perhaps Musk would be willing to condition it with the release of our abducted babies, sons, daughters, elderly people,” he wrote.
Musk had made the offer to use Starlink in Gaza earlier today, although further details have yet to emerge.
I was out and about today and was happy to see a whole bunch of pro palestine people demonstrating on the street downtown. This is settler country so great to see. No blue and white chuds in sight.
Still can't believe one of Jezza's 2017 campaign staffers said live on TV that he and his colleagues did everything to bring Corbyn down. Yet the British press doesn't tell you about it.
It is very funny that the rhetoric of Israel's government has basically been "We will utterly destroy Hamas. There will be no living member of the organization when we are done. Our forces will enter Gaza and annihilate the terrorists found within. We are fulfilling the prophecies of our ancestors by finally wiping out the most evil group that has yet existed on this earth. We have a dozen ways to destroy the tunnel networks." and then they try and enter Gaza and within five minutes their forces are crying their eyes out and calling for helicopter evacuations.
We really are cursed to relive the Ukrainian counteroffensive again. First as farce, second as even greater farce. Israel's plans for Gaza post-war feel like Zelensky saying that he'll be sunbathing in Crimea in the summer.
I'm Korean. Israel and Palestinian relation is very different from South and North Korea. However, there is one similarity. While Israel and South Korea are prosperous, Palestinians and North Korea are poor and miserable. Why? It's because they spend all their energy on hate.
Current situation: Sounds like Israel tried to do a ground advance. Shit went very badly and even some of their troops were captured. Helicopters called in. Media blackout.
Now I'm not usually one to come out in defense some Br*tish sex pest, especially a fucking Tory MP, but this guy literally said that the United Kingdom was complicit in Israeli war crimes LAST WEEK. He also claims he was extorted in connection to this three weeks ago. Now considering the noncery the average Tory MP gets away with daily on that godforsaken island, the timing, and how he was immediately arrested and expelled from the party based on an unknown accusation, before charges are even filed... what?? that happens to powerful people over there?
Like I'm freaking the fuck out at this? holy shit they just totally suppressed this guy right? jesus there's probably some fucking Epstein/Maxwell connection involved here too with Israeli and British intelligence services or some shit, idk my brain is melting and I'm going fucking insane with this rn!
BBC journalists have allegedly been “crying at work” over the corporation’s “dehumanising” coverage of Palestinians.
Concerns were raised during meeting this week that the BBC had been too lenient on Israel, with staff left crying in toilets and taking time off work over the approach to the conflict.
An email setting out fears that the BBC was “treating Israeli lives as more worthy than Palestinian lives” was sent to Tim Davie, the director-general.
“What Hamas did was atrocious and nobody is excusing its actions, but the mood from a lot of people in the building is that we aren't getting the coverage right,” a source told The Times.
“Staff have been crying in the toilets and freelancers have been sacrificing earnings by not showing up to work because of the distress caused.”
In another email to Davie, Beirut-based correspondent Rami Ruhayem said that he had “the gravest possible concerns” about the output.
“Words like ‘massacre’, ‘slaughter’ and ‘atrocities’ are being used prominently in reference to actions by Hamas, but hardly, if at all, in reference to actions by Israel,” he said.
“Does this not raise the question of the possible complicity of the BBC in incitement, dehumanisation and war propaganda?”
He claimed the BBC was frequently going easy on Israeli officials and allowing them “comfortable airtime”.
“The BBC has taken upon itself in recent years the task of fighting fake news, disinformation, hate speech and such things, a trend in western media,” he said.
“Where is the content analysing the flood of incitement against Palestinians and tracking its impact?”
Journalist John Simpson earlier this week said the BBC has received an almost equal number of complaints about it being biased towards and against Israel.
“People rail at the BBC because they hope they can force it to come down on their side; and when that doesn’t happen — and it’s not going to — they get angrier still,” he wrote in the New Statesman.
Listening to the live stream from Gaza, lots of explosions can be heard, probably artillery. But also the sound of birds and children, holy fucking shit. I feel like we're failing them, we cannot continue like this.
Fans of Scotland’s Celtic Football Club have defied their club’s directives and waved thousands of Palestine flags during their team’s Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.
Hours before the match at Glasgow’s Celtic Park on Wednesday, the club issued a statement saying both sets of players and coaching staff would wear black armbands “as a show of respect and support for all those affected by the conflict” but told fans to refrain from displaying their support in the stands.
“We ask that banners, flags and symbols relating to the conflict and those countries involved in it are not displayed at Celtic Park at this time,” the club said in its statement.
🟢 Hamas:
—
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
We applaud the masses that demonstrated in American cities and Western capitals in solidarity with Gaza and in rejection of the fascist occupation’s aggression.
We, in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), commend the mass mobilization, marches, and solidarity events that took place yesterday, Saturday, and today, Sunday, in various American cities and Western capitals, denouncing the aggression and genocide waged by the fascist occupation government against the Gaza Strip, now on its twenty-third day. We affirm that these large gatherings express their living conscience in supporting the legitimate rights of our people to freedom and self-determination and denouncing the American and Western support and bias for the occupation.
We renew our call to these free masses and all the free people in the world to continue their movement in solidarity with the Gaza Strip and in support of the justice of our national cause. We urge the escalation of all forms of popular pressure in the coming days to stop the genocide against children and two million Palestinian citizens in the Gaza Strip.
Islamic Resistance Movement - Hamas.

“The Coordination and Liaison Office was attacked on October 7 together with all the outposts along the division’s line. A large Hamas force seized the adjacent Erez Crossing, which was closed for the Simhat Torah holiday. From there, within minutes and with no resistance, they advanced into the military base, killing and kidnapping the soldiers of the Civil Administration, though a few of them managed to return fire before being hit… Brig. Gen. Rosenfeld entrenched himself in the division’s subterranean war room together with a handful of male and female soldiers, trying desperately to rescue and organize the sector under attack. Many of the soldiers, most of them not combat personnel, were killed or wounded outside. The division was compelled to request an aerial strike against the base itself in order to repulse the terrorists.”
This dry, complimentary description of the high commander, hiding with a few soldiers in an underground bunker and ordering an aerial bombardment of “the base” where his soldiers were fighting against Hamas militants, maybe wounded and maybe taken as prisoners, has a lot to say about the Israeli psyche in these bloody times.
On October 11, Quique Kierszenbaum reported in The Guardian about his tour of Kibbutz Be’eri, a tour organized by the Israeli Army’s propaganda unit. He writes:
“Building after building has been destroyed, whether in the Hamas assault or in the fighting that followed, nearby trees splintered and walls reduced to concrete rubble from where Israeli tanks blasted the Hamas militants where they were hiding. Floors collapsed on floors. Roof beams were tangled and exposed like rib cages.”
In another report in Haaretz in Hebrew (it does not appear to be available in English) on October 11, probably following the same army-guided PR tour, Nir Hasson and Eden Solomon interviewed “Erez, deputy commander of an armored reserve battalion.” He described how he and his tanks unit “fought inside the kibbutz, from house to house, with the tanks.” “We had no choice,” he concludes.
Most recently, Nir Hasson returned to Be’eri and interviewed a local resident named Tuval, who was lucky to be away from the kibbutz at the time of the attack but whose partner was killed. In Hasson’s October 20 Haaretz article, he reports:
“His voice trembles when his partner, who was besieged in her home shelter at the time, comes to mind. According to him, only on Monday night and only after the commanders in the field made difficult decisions — including shelling houses with all their occupants inside in order to eliminate the terrorists along with the hostages — did the IDF complete the takeover of the kibbutz. The price was terrible: at least 112 Be’eri people were killed. Others were kidnapped. Yesterday, 11 days after the massacre, the bodies of a mother and her son were discovered in one of the destroyed houses. It is believed that more bodies are still lying in the rubble.”
This quote is important for several reasons; one is because it adds to the understood timeline of events. This testimony would seem to indicate that many Israeli captives were still alive on Monday, October 9, a full two days after the events of Saturday, October 7. While it might be understandable if captives had been killed in the hectic crossfire of an initial Israeli response to the attack on the 7th, this account would seem to indicate that the decision to assault the kibbutz and everyone inside was made as a clear military calculation.
The US getting angry at the UN because people aren't saying enough mean stuff about Hamas while Israel cut off internet in Gaza and are bombing like crazy is some real shit.
They are going to show us footage of a tunnel found under a hospital and people are going to pretend it proves something, as if building a bomb shelter under a public building in an area that gets bombed regularly isn't the most obvious thing to do.
thread (nitter alt) about how Hollywood propaganda has completely broken people's brains about US military capabilities
One of the worst moments in the history of military cinema was the final battle in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Considering that film was heavily supported by the Pentagon, recent events have put a sinister cast on what is facially just an over-the-top action scene. ... an American general in a high-tech command center sees the battle happening on a drone feed and barks out orders to commence the operation. This causes a US Navy armada (including one destroyer mounting a railgun) to magically appear off the Egyptian coast and launch an amphibious assault with LCACs 110 miles up the Nile Delta to Giza to put US Army tanks on the ground and firing on Megatron in what appears to be literally a couple of minutes of in-universe time.
Of course the good guys win, hooray, it's a fun action set-piece in a lowbrow blockbuster. But here's the thing. This entire sequence was vetted and approved by the Public Affairs Office, and the US military was heavily involved with the production - to the point some of the "special effects" in the battle were live tank gun rounds being fired into the set. And yet, apparently, none of the soldiers involved with this thought for a moment to pump the brakes and point out that all of this was ridiculous. How ridiculous? This is a franchise about transforming robots from outer space and somehow the most unrealistic moment in all five movies doesn't even involve them. That cinematic low point instead falls on a depiction of the United States military teleporting its entire joint force enterprise into battle over the course of a literal phone call. And nobody thought to point this out to Michael Bay, probably, because that was exactly the message the Pentagon wanted to send.
And now we have people on this website assuming that the United States can just handwave the kind of military forces out of thin air needed to deter and, if necessary, defeat Iran. Logistics, basing, access, transit times, force correlations, who cares - we've got this. And that is, unfortunately, exactly in line with the Pentagon's most public messaging about its own capabilities. This has seen the US government repeatedly embarrassed and the US public disappointed in recent years when it turns out that American aircraft take days, carriers take weeks and tanks take months to arrive at the crisis of the hour.
Former Israeli ambassador calls Palestinians "inhuman animals" on Sky News. Says he doesn't know why anyone cares and makes no distinction between Palestinian civilians and combatants.
Genocide joe really has crammed a huge amount of failure into his 4 year term, and he's not even done.
-complete failure on covid, zero change from trump
-embarrassing defeat by the Taliban on the way out. Obviously that was going to happen after any withdrawal, but hanging all American collaborators out to dry was also really something
-complete failure to both avert and win both the military and economic war with Russia. Nordstream sabotage was effective I suppose
-economic sanctions boomerang on the west and destroy a major ally's economy
-China continues its rise unabated. Turns out sanctioning everyone and everything undermines the effectiveness of sanctions
-Israel caught completely napping, brutal defeat straightaway. That fucking crusader state isn't going to last. Let's see how much more he can fuck it up over the next year
There have been more protests against the slaughter of Gaza in Israel, including blocking roads. This comes after the state has announced its preparing legislation to allow police and military to fire on protesters blocking roads with live rounds.
I've been appalled and concerned at the reaction to the protests here in the UK, with mainstream media regularly framing them as pro-Hamas, pro-terrorism, and antisemitic, politicians calling for total bans, people being assaulted by security staff for displaying Palestinian flags in football grounds, talk of charging protesters with supporting a terrorist organisation etc.
But that's nothing compared to being a tiny minority in fascist Israel, where the government and much of thr population already think you're traitors, and the government is openly planning to murder you for calling for peace. Those people are brave. Not as brave as the Palestinians who somehow face genocidal intentions and extreme violence every day, but still brave as fuck.
The Chinese pilot “flew in an unsafe and unprofessional manner, demonstrated poor airmanship by closing with uncontrolled excessive speed, flying below, in front of, and within 10 feet of the B-52, putting both aircraft in danger of collision,” US Indo-Pacific Command said in a Thursday statement. “We are concerned this pilot was unaware of how close he came to causing a collision.”
"We are concerned this pilot was unaware of how hard he was dunking on us, and hope he finds this footage useful in bragging to his compatriots"
Just saw a tweet by a Palestinian asking for the full list of dead published by the Gaza Ministry of Health because he hasn't heard from his family in more than a week.
mangopress
"Israel, being threatened by China's dialogue for peace and ceasefire, chose to threaten China by cancelling the China-Israeli joint committee in technology cooperation, limit it's trade with China, provocation in the South China Sea and endanger China's water safety."
A huge number of fuel tankers have accumulated on the border of Iraq and Jordan. Protesters blocking the borders say they will not allow a drop of fuel into Israel.
Desperately trying to convince liberals that the only moral and practical options for opposing Hamas is to either directly by force stopping the ethnic cleansing of Palestine, or by creating and funding a 100% morally correct and non-antisemitic militia, giving them superior arms and materiel, and then supporting them in a campaign of military violence in freeing Palestine from ethnic cleansing, therefore depriving Hamas of legitimacy and role as primary armed resistance to Israel.
And of the two the former is obviously the more practical.
It’s so easy to support Palestine when it’s under attack by Israel. Everyone who today is shedding tears for Gaza was a couple weeks ago calling for blood going “Israel has a right to defend itself.” Well they got what they wanted, they should be celebrating. One would hope this would cause some self-reflection in westerners but we all know it won’t, in fact this is a situation that is desired in those same westerners. They are happy to support opponents of imperialism when those opponents are being killed off and displaced and on the run, but they can never support those opponents of imperialism when they are actually materially threatening imperialism.
Fucking Guatemala voted against the UN ceasefire proposal. Fucking America worshipping cucks. We have the fourth highest Palestinian population in the Americas and yet our US-led government can't help themselves from following whatever Daddy tells them to do. A ceasefire is the bare minimum and even that was too much for you.
Arbenz please come back from the dead or have your spirit passed on to someone ffs
Jesus Christ, every day I take like ten minutes and go to /r/worldnews to see what they're up to, and I've honestly never seen this level of pure, unmitigated bloodlust on Reddit. This is post-9/11 levels of just the most unhinged islamophobic blood thirst that I've ever seen.
These motherfuckers are mainlining IDF propaganda 24/7, and even the most tepid, timid pushback is downvoted to oblivion and gets dozens of answers that read like absolute fucking demons demanding nothing but the complete annihilation of Gaza. I saw comments implying that all Palestinians support Hamas and are therefore fair game in war, and these comments have thousands of upvotes.
I don't know why I still bother. That site achieves the unthinkable: it is way fucking worse than Twitter.
RSF says killing of Reuters journalist in Lebanon a targeted strike
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) says that the killing of Reuters visuals journalist Issam Abdallah in Lebanon on October 13 was the result of a targeted strike from the direction of the Israeli border.
“According to the ballistic analysis carried out by RSF, the shots came from the east of where the journalists were standing; from the direction of the Israeli border,” RSF said.
“Two strikes in the same place in such a short space of time (just over 30 seconds), from the same direction, clearly indicate precise targeting.”
Footage released online shows Abdallah and other colleagues were clearly marked as “Press” when they were fired upon.
Greta Thunberg, playing for team Palestine, is throwing down a thunderous dunk on Amy Schumer crying and cowering below. Schumer is on the “iSSrael” squad.
The basketball is an octopus plushie with a Hamas headband, which Thunberg wears also.
The crowd supports Palestine, looking exactly like a Celtic FC crowd.
The text reads “FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA,” the lettering the colors of the flag of Palestine.
Dalnegorsky GOK is the only producer of boric acid in Russia. According to the authorities, the enterprise is one of the leading industrial enterprises in Primorye. In the first half of the year, more than 480,000 tons of ore were mined here, which is 36% more than in the same period in 2022.
The Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit against the Fininvest company to declare the results of the privatization on August 2 illegal. On August 8, at the request of the prosecutor's office, 100% of the shares in the authorized capital of Dalnegorsky GOK LLC were seized as part of interim measures.
The Arbitration Court of the Perm Territory satisfied the demands of the Prosecutor General's Office to seize in favor of the state the main stake in the Perm enterprise Metafrax Chemicals, which was privatized in the 90s, producing methanol, said regional arbitration judge Tatyana Morozova.
The defendant pointed out the incomparability of the Soviet plant, the cost of which was estimated at 370 million rubles before the denomination, with the modern complex in Gubakha, its price is 116 billion rubles: “the objects are incommensurable in quality and cost terms.” The defendant drew attention to the statute of limitations: the prosecutor’s office had the opportunity to declare the illegality of “privatization” from 1994 to the 2000s. “The state has been saying for 30 years that everything is fine. Well, you can’t say after 30 years that the cow has fed up the bull,” the defender of the Metaholding company concluded his speech.
NOOO YOU CAN’T JUST SEIZE THE PLANT THAT I BOUGHT OFF CHEAP WHEN THE USSR FELL, YOU NEVER SAID IT WAS ILLEGAL BEFORE AND NOW THAT IT’S VALUED AT HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF RUBLES, YOU JUST CAME IN AND TOOK IT AWAY!!!
Information about the new owner was entered on September 20. Previously, 100% of the shares of Volzhsky Orgsintez belonged to Alexander Sobolevsky.
In August, the Arbitration Court of the Volgograd Region satisfied the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office against Sobolevsky to claim 100% of the company's shares in favor of the state. In favor of the state, ordinary shares of the joint-stock company with a par value of 0.2 rubles each in the amount of 2,344,925 were to be credited.
The agreement was concluded on May 22, 2023, the transaction amount was 725 million rubles. The new owner of the defense enterprise announced plans to modernize the plant's production . The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation challenged the results of the auction by filing a corresponding application with the court as part of the bankruptcy case. The courts of first and appellate instances rejected the claims. As a result, the contract between the defense plant and the Moscow company was terminated pre-trial.
At the suit of Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Tkachev, the property of Andrei Korovayko, Arkady Chebanov, as well as related structures of the Pokrovsky concern, one of the large agro-industrial holdings in Russia, was confiscated. In total, 94 enterprises with a total value of 100 billion rubles were donated to the state. The case concerns shares and shares of JSC Concern Pokrovsky, agricultural firms Rus, Dolzhanskaya, Urozhaynaya, Rassvet, Mostovskaya, Rodina, the Kanevskoy meat and poultry plant, and the Pavlovsky meat processing plant. and "Tikhoretsky", Kanevsky, Timashevsky and Kurganinsky sugar factories, Albashsky, Stepnyansky and Staroshcherbinovsky elevators, as well as numerous trading and service companies.

At first I thought this smells like election season, but the weird part is that none of these moves were advertised loudly. Dozens of news like these are silently happening in the background.
Russia is such a weird country. It’s almost as if two separate factions are running the country.
You have on the one side the willingness to nationalize industries under state control, and on the other side you have the libs preparing for privatization of state assets to patch up the budget deficit.
You have a government that is willing to spend a huge amount of money to keep the economy going, and on the other side you have the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank that doing everything they can to reverse all these efforts by raising interest rates at the snap of a finger.
It’s such a weird country I don’t even know what’s going on anymore.
The first time I used marijuana and actually got high was a long time ago when I was a teen. I was with a couple friends of mine and we walked to a little cove on the beach, a ways down into a public park. We smoked a joint at the cove, chilled for a few, and then walked back home. Walking back, it really hit me. I vividly remember the feeling of being high for the first time. I felt as though every single moment I was waking up from a dream, like every step and heartbeat was spent piercing the veil between sleep and waking life. It was a feeling of constant transition, where the past was only ever a flicker out of the corner of my eye, and any future, even just 10 steps down the path, was unimaginable. I could focus only on the singular instant in which I existed. It wasn't that the past and the future were hard to fathom, it's that they did not exist.
I am describing this feeling now to the news thread because I believe that this way of being that I experienced as a minor using weed for the first time is a close analogue for how liberals experience and understand history. Just an infinite sequence of individual, disconnected moments, no past or present, only smooth vibes.
⚡️BREAKING: #Israeli army spokesman told ABC News: The expanded operations underway in #Gaza now are not the official ground invasion
I call bullshit. They could say this every single night while continually making it bigger and bigger until they're effectively in an operation that's normalised without ever saying it. Salami slice escalation.
Example of the fake rubbish out there that I avoid posting here lmao:
From the Hebrew website: Colonel Yair Shalam, Israel commander of the attack on the Bureij camp in Gaza, was captured by the Palestinian resistance!!!
For those that don't know. This dude is Herzi Halevi and he's literally the highest ranking person in the IDF. Extremely obviously and easily verifiable fake post that is getting reshared by massive numbers of accounts.
we really need to come up with a better expression than "braver than the troops" because most (Western, at least) troops are utter cowards who piss themselves if they aren't backed up by frequent bomber raids and dozens of various high-tech gizmos. it's sorta like saying "warmer than liquid nitrogen." not a hard bar to pass
They say anything they can to avoid saying the IDF is doing it. "What's happening in Gaza right now is a massive casualty event." MSNBC's reporter in southern Israel just said that.
The cause of phone and internet outages in Gaza remains unclear, experts say.
It was unclear on Saturday whether a widespread communications outage in the Gaza Strip was because strikes had damaged cellular infrastructure or because Israel had deliberately cut Palestinian service, experts said.
President Biden said he had “no confidence” in the claims by Palestinians about the number of civilians who have been killed in Gaza during the last two weeks. The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza said more than 6,500 people have been killed by Israeli airstrikes since Oct. 7, a number which could not be independently verified.
“I have no notion that Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed,” Biden said. “I’m sure innocents have been killed. And that’s the price of waging a war.” He added, “I have no confidence in the number that the Palestinians are using.”
No offense to any Baltics posters here, but liberals from those countries are the dumbest motherfuckers I've seen in a while. Finland really is convinced that China and Russia are working together to keep the Baltics down with the pipeline accident, claiming that accidents like that just don't happen on such a common route.
Then again, America worshippers don't have the best critical thinking skills. An unfortunate side effect of consuming Marvel content exclusively.
Love to go on and see people argue that "In an ideal world Hamas and Israel would be equally opposed because they are both moral black holes."
Not that in an ideal world, Hamas would not exist because Israel would not be ethnically cleansing a population they put in a giant concentration camp, just that centrism would rule supreme in an ideal world.
And besides, who fucking chooses their degree of opposition based on "morality"? You wouldnt equally oppose the KKK and idk, the Manson family, because both want race wars, you oppose the KKK more because they have superior means and organization to perform actions in the service of that goal. Opposing the morality of a group is a thought exercise.
Feeling a little good this afternoon seeing all the solidarity out there for Palestine. It really feels like the only thing the zionists have control over is the narrative put out by the msm, which very few young people give a shit about. More and more people are coming out as anti-capitalist and anti-israel which gives me some motivation to go on. Does it help the people on the ground being bombed in total darkness rn, no, it doesn't, but hopefully whatever aid people like Hasan and Shaun are doing can make somewhat of a dent. I really don't want to give in to despair. If Israel genocides these people the entire fucking world is awake and will see.
There is a huge situation allegedly happening in Dagestan Russia right now where large crowds are attacking the airport and trying to get to an airplane that they believe Israelis are on board.
Reposting a @DiscoPosting@hexbear.net bit to remind us to stay positive, collected, and hopeful during this critical moment
A world away, further than any place you'll ever go, a young boy sits outside a crumbling, concrete apartment block. Sea spray and smoke swirl through the air together, salty and acrid, coating the world in a shade grayer than usual. He sits and stares up at the sky, at the planes carrying missiles overhead, and he listens for the sounds of catching powders and marching footsteps. He sits with two million siblings. None of them may make it to tomorrow. The sufficiently old and sufficiently able take to the streets. The shelters and tunnels curling beneath them like veins tremble against the tension.
Speculation going around the USS Carney has no missiles. They allegedly fired off their entire anti-air payload when the Houthis attacked them. People are speculating that these platforms basically have a massive vulnerability to swaming tactics or just running out of ammunition.
Russia said on Thursday that it planned to build close ties with North Korea in all areas, a day after South Korea, Japan and the United States condemned what they said were weapons supplies from Pyongyang to Moscow.
Asked about the accusation by the three countries, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “There are many such reports, they are all groundless as a rule, there are no specifics. Such reports have been around for a long time. We see no point in commenting on this.”
He added: “North Korea is our neighbour and we continue and will continue to develop close relations in all areas.”
Pressed on whether weapons deliveries had taken place, Peskov said: “We don’t comment on this in any way.”
Sorry in advance on the psychic damage. Doubling down on the same day the failing NY Times basically comes out and says the Israeli/US govt story doesn't hold up (that's as close as they will ever get to saying it wasn't a Hamas rocket, no matter the evidence).
All you need to know about Behar is in one sentence on her wikipedia page: "Behar resides in The Hamptons. She also owns a home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She is a Democrat." She is also an old as shit reactionary white American who has no knowledge of anything but lots and lots and lots of opinions.
With it seeming like the Ukrainian counteroffensive is basically over now, this is my final bingo grid. No lines unfortunately; Russia did much better than I expected.
It's time to move on to the next offensive, and this is my bingo grid for Israel:
One thing that's quite interesting is the willingness of those on the right to signal boost leftist activism, even far leftist, when it suits them. If a significant enough split in the right occurred on a domestic issue it would open the door to the vanguard theory even with a weak left as a result of all activists with any ability to quickly mobilise people being on the left.
Tareq Abu Azzoum is able to send sporadic live broadcasts from Khan Younis in Gaza via satellite, but Al Jazeera’s news desk is unable to contact him directly due to the near-communication black out in the bombarded enclave.
What the Gaza Strip is witnessing right now is massive deterioration. We are talking about more than 2.3 million Palestinians now isolated from the world. They are unable to communicate with their relatives or with each other.
What we are now witnessing in Gaza is very unpredictable and the situation may turn on a glance. Please guys, if you can hear us, we are talking now without having any kind of contact with the news desk and just trying to wait for them to communicate. We don’t have any kind of phone contacts we might lose this contact at any moment.
What is happening on the ground is considered to be collective punishment for more than 2.3 million Palestinians. The Gaza Strip right now is completely isolated from the world.
More than 500 people killed by Israel's attack on the Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza. Most of them women and children. Stop this madness!!
The above tweet by Danish footballer Nadia Nadim has made a lot of nasty people very angry at her, including the deputy leader of the hardliner zionist governing succdem party who is on the record saying that "it is highly problematic to share that kind of 'fake news'. I think it is obvious to most people that nobody knows exactly who struck the hospital".
Nadim is being accused of "disinformation" and "fake news" in mainstream media who treats it as a fact that the perpetrators of the hospital massacre are unknown or even reports the zionist lie that PIJ did it.
“The lives of innocent Palestinians must be protected,” Thomas-Greenfield wrote in a social media post.
“The lives of UN personnel and humanitarian workers and journalists must be protected. We mourn the loss of every single innocent life in this crisis. Every single one.”
Decided to take a look at some nafo dorks on twitter to see how they're taking this and, folks, they've turned themselves into a circular firing squad.
Alright, this one is a long shot so I'll need some help turning this lathe but: Two state solution transitionary period where the Israelis are ruled by the Communist Party
Hot take: the IDF is advertised as a technologically advanced force but it's going to get absolutely fucked by peasants armed with Kalashnikovs in Gaza. It's going to be the US in Viet Nam all over again, bet the house on it.
Israeli media: The army is carrying out a dangerous ground maneuver to collect intelligence information and is making a limited ground advance on the “border” with Gaza.
Initial reports of the kidnapping of soldiers during the occupation’s attempt to penetrate Beit Hanoun, north of Gaza, by Palestinian resistance fighters.
I was going to put this in the dunk tank because a leftist account quote tweeted it to dunk on her for saying "Im happy about it" re: a genocide and people in general are saying shit like "americans are so self centered, this isnt about elections" and "grifter taking the oppurtunity of a genocide to tell everyone she was right all along and settle twitter beefs".
But then i ran it by some friends to check to make sure I wasnt off base and they were saying "no its good that she's saying that people should have realized that Biden was bad all along"
So now I'm not sure because I have no confidence in myself to to CPTSD so I dont have my own opinions so Im wondering what people think? Thanks.
Tunisia’s parliament is scheduled to consider next week a draft law criminalizing the normalization of relations with Israel as pro-Palestinian protests continue in the country amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
According to Tarshoun, the draft law imposes penalties ranging from six to 12 years in prison, with a fine ranging from 10,000 Tunisian dinars ($3,148) to 100,000 dinars ($31,482) against anyone who attempts to or participates in economic, cultural or military activities with Israel, the Tunisian MP said.
Watching some footage of Israeli incursion into Gaza and... holy shit, western miltaries learned absolutely nothing from the Ukraine war. Israeli tanks are just moving in these big dumb columns. If this army tries going into Gaza-city, it'll be a complete fucking disaster
Israeli media has reported that the Netanyahu government plans to approve new rules that will authorise police to use live fire on protesters blocking roads or entrances to cities inside Israel during the war.
According to the report, the rules have been championed by Itamar Ben Gvir, the ultra-nationalist settler and member of Netanyahu’s cabinet who oversees the police. They have received the rubber stamp of Israel’s attorney general, and will be brought before the government for authorisation on Sunday.
Before the war began on 7 October, Israeli demonstrators had been turning out weekly by the hundreds of thousands against the Netanyahu government’s plan to weaken the judiciary, with protesters regularly blocking major Israeli thoroughfares. Much smaller demonstrations have been taking places since the war started, calling for the government to work to release the Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
The war has sparked a crackdown by the Israeli government against perceived dissent, with hundreds of people arrested or disciplined for speech sympathetic to Gazans. Police have been given wide new powers to determine what applies as “support for terrorism”, and have declared they will not allow solidarity demonstrations in support of Gaza.
Nearly half of the game’s 65 million users are 12 years old or younger.
Claiming it had received multiple reports of Israeli players being “attacked” in the game by players whose avatars are sporting uniforms, weapons, and the flags of Palestine and Saudi Arabia, the ministry urged parents to report any “offensive content or actors” directly to Roblox so that it could be removed.
A member of an Israeli parents’ group on Facebook claimed their child had seen other Roblox users reenacting Hamas’ October 7 surprise attack on Israel, imploring their fellow group members to monitor their children’s online activities and impose parental controls on their internet use.
The game already censors the phrase ‘Free Palestine’, as well as ‘Hamas’ and some uses of the word ‘Jews’. Discussion of elected officials, political parties, current and former political candidates, and “inflammatory content related to real world border, territorial, or jurisdictional relationships” is already prohibited.
place your bets for the chance that Israel furiously depletes their stockpile of anti-satalite missiles (assuming they have some) while taking out elon's sats and creates a cloud of high velocity shards forever trapping humans on Earth
"'Never again,' is now." There's so much wrong with that short phrase.
Netanyahu says second stage of war has begun, with goal of destroying military and government of Hamas
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday that the second stage of the war against Hamas has begun, with the goal of destroying the military and government of Hamas and returning hostages held in Gaza home.
“Our heroic fighters have one goal: To destroy this enemy and to make sure the existence of our country. Never again. 'Never again,' is now,” Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu also confirmed he spoke with the family of hostages held by Hamas and said he vowed to them that he would exhaust all options to return their loved ones.
Summary of televised Abu Obeida speech by The Cradle:
Military spokesman for Hamas' Qassam Brigades, Abu Obeida:
The occupation's aggression and its perpetration of the Holocaust and massacres are caused by the great pain it experiences.
We say to the enemy who repeats his threats of ground invasion on a daily basis, that we are still waiting for him to taste new types of death.
The time of selling the illusion to the world about the lie of the invincible army and the supernatural Merkava is over, after we destroyed it in the Gaza Strip.
We wait impatiently for the time of your humiliation.
The curse of the eighth decade will fall upon them.
Be confident, our people, that our victory is coming.
We renew our call to the honorable people of our nation and the mujahideen of the region to consider this battle a decisive battle, and to rise with us.
The large number of enemy prisoners we have has the price of emptying all prisons of all [Palestinian] prisoners.
Translated:
To the Arab leaders, we say to you from the heart of the battle, the details of which you are undoubtedly witnessing, that we are not asking you to move to defend the children of Arabism, to move your tanks, God forbid. Have you become so weak and impotent that you are unable to move relief vehicles to a part of your Arab and Islamic land?
“Under the Trump administration, we will revoke the student visas of radical anti-American and antisemitic foreigners at our colleges and universities and we will send them straight back home,” Trump said in Iowa on October 16, falsely conflating anti-Zionism with antisemitism.
. . .
Some GOP presidential candidates have demanded that the federal government revoke funding from universities that allow students to hold Palestinian solidarity protests — which are protected under the First Amendment — on their campuses.
I realized something about libs. They deeply unconsciously believe that no one should ever be harmed or inconvenienced for anything they didn't personally and deliberately do, and that it's never acceptable to harm or inconvenience anyone in pursuit of some large scale goal, with no awareness or interest in material conditions and realities.
They'll never support any serious action because some bystanders will get hurt and to them that makes taking any action unthinkable (as long as the bystanders pass the albedo test)
The Zionist entity, which has bombed the Damascus airport 4 times over past 3 weeks, has begun murdering Syrians as well
"Israel has exponentially increased its war crimes against the Syrian Arab Republic and of its citizenry. At 0:145 Damascene time, on Wednesday, 25 October the Zionist regime bombed several “sites” in Daraa countryside, murdering eight soldiers, wounding seven others, and damaging an undisclosed amount of Syrian infrastructure.
This was another double war crime by the Zionist criminals, launching its deadly bombs from Syria’s Golan, which Israel has illegally occupied since 1967, and with the most arrogant impunity.
Israel’s bloodlust is still not sated, twelve hours after its massacre of eight Syrian Arab Army soldiers in their own country, terrorist Israel once again bombed the Aleppo International Airport."
some perfectly normal trolleyology from the local watering hole
Here is a hypothetical: Person 1 wants to save lives over a 50 year period but it requires extra deaths now. Person 2 wants to avoid frontloading deaths knowing it will result in a much higher total death count over 50 years. Who is more pro genocide?
Hamas spokesman Osama Hamdan has said there are “no talks” currently taking place between the group and Israel over a potential ceasefire and prisoner exchange.
“There [were] talks and there [were] political efforts to achieve such an arrangement”, he told Al Jazeera, but there are “no talks” amid the intensified Israeli bombardment of Gaza.
Hamdan said Israeli forces are “moving towards the borders of Gaza from different points”.
“It’s clear that they know they have lost … the narrative issue, so they want to cut Gaza from the world in order to commit their crimes in deep silence,” he said.
“It’s clear they’ve started that [ground invasion], but they’re worried about the consequences, they are worried about what might happen on the ground and they are facing a very strong resistance.”
Al-Jazeera - Qatar is in the advance stages of reaching a ceasefire deal between Israel & Hamas.
A breakthrough could be achieved in the coming days.
I've seen tonnes and tonnes of rumours about this today. I think it's legit. Combined with the fact that domestically the political situation is turning against a ground operation....
I think it's a real possibility, I'm getting hopeful.
White House has not responded to report it asked Qatar to tone down Al Jazeera’s coverage
The report by the Axios news agency said US top diplomat Antony Blinken had, less than two weeks ago, asked his Qatari counterpart to “tone down Al Jazeera’s rhetoric” on the Israel-Gaza war.
Reporting from Washington, Al Jazeera’s White House correspondent Kimberly Halkett said the administration has not responded to the report. She added that while Qatar “funds Al Jazeera, it does not in any way editorially shape our coverage”.
“I can tell you that, in my own interactions with the Biden administration, I have had pushback where I’ve been told that our coverage is critical of US foreign policy, and I defended it saying that that is healthy and that is what our job is to do,” she said.
“While there has been no attempt to try and in any way dispute this on the part of the White House, I can tell you from my own personal experiences that this certainly does echo what I have experienced here on the White House campus and in my interactions with the White House press office,” she said.
Holy shit, the arachnids have launched a meteor. All of Buenos Ares is gone. 9 million dead. 12.5 million wounded, that’s about 500,000 9/11s. This is a tragic offensive that only bugs could plan, but also bugs can’t think. So they are both the manipulators of worlds, and scum of the universe. It’s perfect! WERE GOING TO WAR BABY WOOHOO!
"I see death 20 times a day," says 90-year-old woman after fleeing her Gaza home
Souad Al-Alem was one of the roughly 10,000 people forced to flee the Palestinian town of al-Majdal. It was 1948, she was a young woman and Israel’s troops were approaching the community during the Arab-Israeli war in what is now part of the Israeli city of Ashkelon.
Now in her 90s and living in Gaza, Al-Alem has been forced to run again — one of the hundreds of thousands of civilians caught up in the war.
“I see death 20 times every day, in the sky and on earth. Even the force of every blast affects us psychologically. It feels like it is on top of our heads when it’s next to us or nearby,” Al-Alem told CNN.
Just 10 miles north of the Gaza border, not much remains of al-Majdal. Once a buzzing market place known for textile manufacturing, it was reduced to rubble after the 1948/49 war.
All of its houses are long gone, replaced with modern Israeli buildings that are now part of Ashkelon. Only the old mosque remains standing. Nearby, an empty, overgrown field gives a hint of the size of the former town.
news mega wisdom from our largest adult son in the 25 august vlog
No blowback is actually blowback. Even if the results are unintended, they are always then turned into opportunities because of the commanding position, because of the ability to act that is monopolized by the United States at the global level. That means every situation can be turned to [its] best interests.
Which is one of the reasons that people who reason backwards about every social revolt in the world as having to be an American op because as it unfolds the United States ends up benefiting from it- is ridiculous, is childlike thinking.
America dominates because any spontaneous and sincere social resistance is going to be unorganized and probably defeated, but the pressure on the state that it creates will persist and can be exploited by the one power that can act: the United States.
Sometimes the United States orchestrates things, when it has to. But for the most part it doesn't have to. That's one of those things that super-blackpilled conspiracy people who think they're telling you deep, hard truths- are actually being incredibly naive. Because they assume that the United States has to have that level of conspiratorial interference going on in order to benefit from everything. Not that its role as imperial hegemon makes that the default state everywhere.
I think the cia probably has fingers in more pies than he gives it credit for, but the ability to maneuver in response to organic social unrest around the world is an important piece of maintaining atlantic imperialism that I don't see people talk about very much
Hitler was an unparalleled military genius. Nazism promoted Germany from a low to a fantastic physical and ideological status. The ragged, trashy youth body turned into a neat and orderly part of society and Germany received an exemplary regime, a proper justice system and public order. Hitler savored good music. He would paint. This was no bunch of thugs. They merely used thugs and homosexuals.
I was just reading a little bit about white phosphorus. Sounds way worse than say mustard gas. Just one more hypocrisy to add onto the pile that someone like Assad deserves to get bombed for (being accused of) having mustard gas, yet Israel and the US can use white phosphorus with impunity and that’s a-ok.
From Gaza now: Mosques are the only means of communication through speakers. "We have no communication with the outside world. They are using their military might to harm us. We have no power but the power of God, no one but God. Please, pray for us."
🟢⚫️🔴♦️🟩 Statement issued by the Palestinian forces: Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement), Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command:
—
The five Palestinian powers held a leadership meeting, in Beirut, today, Saturday, October 28, 2023, to discuss the course of Al-Aqsa Flood Battle with the zionist enemy and its brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip.
In their statement, the five powers saluted the martyrs of our Palestinian people and our steadfast and proud people in the Gaza Strip who are facing an organized campaign of extermination, stressing that they are the people of pride, dignity and steadfastness and that they are the people of victory who are loyal to their cause and their homeland, and [the Palestinian forces] pledged to them to continue on the path of resistance until victory is achieved over the zionist enemy.
The attendees affirmed the following:
• This heroic epic is the battle of the entire Palestinian people, which they are waging in defense of their land, their sanctities, their existence, and their right to freedom, against a barbaric enemy that does not spare any of our people from its crimes. It targets hospitals, mosques, churches, universities, and ambulances, and cuts off electricity, water, fuel, the Internet, and cellular communications for our besieged people.
• Adhering to national unity is a main pillar in confronting the zionist war of genocide against our people, as well as rejecting the enemy’s attempts to divide our people or monopolize any part of it. We stress unifying efforts and closing ranks in this fateful battle.
• We call on the masses of our Arab and Islamic nation and the free people of the world to continue their movements to stop the American-zionist aggression, open the border crossings, bring in humanitarian aid and fuel, and remove the wounded from the Gaza Strip.
• We salute the resistance forces in our nation, especially in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Iran, and we affirm that our Palestinian people are not alone in this battle.
• We hold the United States of America fully responsible for the war of genocide against our people as it chose to support, escalate, and participate in the war of genocide against our people, which requires a strong response from the Arab and Islamic countries as well as countries friendly to our people to stop this ongoing massacre of our Palestinian people.
• We demand the opening of the Rafah crossing and the entry of aid, humanitarian needs, fuel, and medical and relief teams to our people without delay, allowing the wounded to be transported to Egypt and the Arab and Islamic countries, without interference from the occupation or any of the aggression countries.
• We call on the masses of our people throughout occupied Palestine to escalate all forms of resistance and struggle against the zionist enemy, targeting its soldiers and settlers, and strengthening popular initiatives of struggle in the face of settler attacks and the encroachment of enemy forces.
• The enemy’s cutting of all access to Gaza, besieging it, and cutting off communications and the Internet completely is a cover for a major crime of genocide that the enemy does not want witnesses to, and we stress breaking this siege with an “official and popular” Arab position.
• We adhere to the right of our people to resist, and its confidence in the victory of our people in this battle, as we fight this battle in defense of our land, our people, and our sanctities, and for the sake of liberation, return, self-determination, and the establishment of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Glory to the martyrs.
Healing for the wounded.
Freedom for the prisoners.
Victory to our people and their valiant resistance.
The head of the World Health Organization said the agency had lost touch with its staff in Gaza, as well as its health facilities, health workers and the rest of its humanitarian partners on the ground. “This siege makes me gravely concerned for their safety and the immediate health risks of vulnerable patients,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director general of the W.H.O., wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
the date is 10/26/23, we are hearing about another 1/10th of a 9/11 occurring in Maine. There have been 30 or so 9/11's since 10/7/23 in Israel alone. Over 100 9/11's since this past 9/11. Even more if you were to count Palestinians. When will the 9/11's themselves wake up to their own 9/11? Every moment has become a worse tragedy since the last 9/11 and every 9/12 before me looks to become another 9/11 stretching into the abyss. Infinite, recursive 9/11. An inescapable cataclysm in which we are all embodied in the large, jet-fuel-drenched towers, suffocating amongst the melted steel beams. An infinite number of passenger jets are crashing into an endless expanse of financial headquarters. I am born each day at 8:46 AM. The world is watching. I die each morning at 10:28 AM as the North Tower collapse before me. The world grieves for me, but I only crave more blood. I open my eyes and I am born again. The date is still 9/11
🇸🇾🇺🇲⚡️There are reports of a powerful explosion at a US base near the al-Omar oil field in Deir ez-Zor province. The facility has been attacked before.
I swear to God one of the most exciting parts about entering Gaza will be the fact I won't be on Twitter and seeing all the god awful takes on this conflict.
have people seen this thing about the national march on washington for palestine? are people planning on joining, do we know if there's a way to help out without actually going (because i am immunocompromised and very sick rn)
Aerial footage of al-Quds Hospital shows significant gathering of displaced individuals seeking refuge in the hospital’s courtyards.
Hospital authorities report receiving five warnings from the Israeli army, with warnings that the premises will be bombed imminently. The hospital is located in Tal al-Hawa, in Gaza City, and affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent. Hundreds of citizens have flocked to the hospital as it continues to admit victims of the ongoing Israeli bombardment in Gaza.
The footage, shot hours before the Israeli threats and obtained by Al Jazeera on Sunday, also reveal the presence of ambulances and medical teams stationed at the hospital’s entrance. The hospital is sheltering 12,000 displaced civilians, with a majority being children and women.
Sounds like a misfired PIJ rocket is going to go off soon, why would the PIJ do this
🇮🇱🇮🇷 🇵🇸 The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, while in New York, made an important statement that could change the situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
▪️ Palestinian factions have announced their readiness to release non-military hostages to Iran.
▪️ In return, Hamas declares its willingness to negotiate through the mediation of Qatar and Turkey and demands the release of six thousand Palestinian hostages from Israeli prisons.
▪️ The Palestinians, who were once seen as terrorists by the international community, are now showing their willingness to negotiate and make a gesture of goodwill.
▪️ Russia and China have gained points by advocating for the release of hostages during the negotiations. Iran, Qatar, and Turkey are also involved in this process.
🔻The Israelis are now finding it extremely inconvenient to sell the narrative that the Palestinians are terrorists, especially since the population seems to have forgotten the events of October 7-8 amidst the extensive bombing of the Gaza Strip.
It is becoming more difficult to dismiss the need to negotiate with Hamas, as public opinion is shifting towards the belief that it is possible to engage with the Palestinians diplomatically.
In the course of the 19-day conflict, the role of the "aggressor" has shifted from the Arabs to the Israelis. While the former are striving for negotiations, the latter's behavior is becoming increasingly inappropriate.
My friend asks that y'all not leave comments or anything please :)
I think its interesting that the post says that the "they can just go back, dual citizenship" rhetoric that Ive seen people here using is a problem because it doesnt reflect reality.
Person seems to be pretty comited to ending aparthied so I dont think they're coming at this in bad faith. And so I think these are good points to keep in mind.
Rules based international order!
A tale of two votes
Condemning Russia:
Calling for a Humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza:
The UN Secretary-General called for a humanitarian ceasefire (the bare minimum, really). The US and Israel among other western countries are against it.
We already knew the rules based world is complete bullshit, here's yet more proof that the western power elite is as morally corrupt as they come.
When I think about protecting the security of the United States and the world, I am clear-eyed. One of our defining missions is to strengthen the international rules-based order — to defend it, to promote it, and to build on it.
David Mencer, former director of Labour Friends of Israel, had an extremely normal one when invited on TalkTV to discuss the growing calls for Labour to back a ceasefire. Seriously, it has to be seen to be believed.
Slovakia has until now been a staunch supporter of Kyiv since Russia invaded in February last year, donating arms and opening its borders for refugees fleeing the war.
Slovakia has announced the end of military aid to Ukraine. A country of 5.5 million people which shares a border with Ukraine, Slovakia has until now been a staunch supporter of Kyiv since Russia invaded in February last year, donating arms and opening its borders for refugees fleeing the war.
Slovakia’s president swore in a new government Wednesday, led by a former populist prime minister Robert Fico.
There are concerns the victory of Fico's Smer, or Direction, Party in September's election could mark a dramatic turnaround in the country’s foreign policy and strain a fragile unity in the European Union and NATO.
He opposes EU sanctions on Russia, questions whether Ukraine can force out the invading Russian troops and wants to block Ukraine from joining NATO.
🇮🇱⚔️🇵🇸Member of the Hamas Political Bureau, Hossam Badran, sends an urgent appeal to the Palestinian people in the West Bank: “This is the time for weapons.”
Gaza residents break into aid centres: UN
Thousands of Gaza residents have broken into warehouses and distribution centres of the United Nations Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) grabbing flour and “basic survival items”, according to the organisation.
“This is a worrying sign that civil order is starting to break down after three weeks of war and a tight siege on Gaza,” said Thomas White, the director of UNRWA affairs in the Gaza Strip, in a statement.
“People are scared, frustrated and desperate. Tensions and fear are made worse by the cuts in the phones and internet communication lines. They feel that they are on their own, cut off from their families inside Gaza and the rest of the world.
“Supplies on the market are running out while the humanitarian aid coming into the Gaza Strip on trucks from Egypt is insufficient.”
Aid supplies to Gaza have been choked since Israel began bombarding in early October.
On Saturday, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said “Israeli obstacles” were impeding the prompt delivery of aid through the Rafah crossing.
I've noticed the caricatures of Americans where I live has changed over the years. It used to be a fat, sunburned asshole with cargo shorts and a bucket hat screaming angrily. Women were portrayed as blonde babes showing lots of skin and sleeping with everyone.
Now it's more of an effeminate man who acts stereotypically gay and speaks flamboyantly while flaunting expensive products. American women are depicted as having too much plastic surgery and fillers with an extremely promiscuous attitude.
The final sentence: "WhatsApp and iMessage are not delivering, and when using the internet to call, it just rings endlessly."
"I don’t know if they are safe or not": Family members left in dark after communications go down in Gaza
People who have family in Gaza tell CNN they have not been able to contact them after communications went down in the enclave following heavy airstrikes.
Jawwal, the Palestinian telecom company that provides mobile service to the Gaza Strip released a statement Friday night saying "the intense bombardment in the past hour has resulted in the destruction of all remaining international routes connecting Gaza with the outside world" leading to a "complete interruption of telecommunications services".
Said Alhayek, 42, from Las Vegas, said he has not been able to reach his family in Gaza.
“It’s like sitting in the dark not knowing what is going to hit you, I can’t reach them on any medium of communication at this point, I can’t even know if they are okay or not, I don’t know if they are safe or not," Alhayek said. "Also, the fact that they cut off communication, makes us feel as though they are about to do something terrible.”
Adli Anwar, 57, who is living in Ottowa, Canada, also said he has no way of communicating with his family.
“I can’t get anything — about three hours ago, we lost all communications, no phones, no internet, nothing. Before it would connect, about 80% of the time, and now it’s zero percent. It doesn’t get to the international line," Anwar said.
CNN tried calling several contacts with Gaza numbers over the last hour, both over international calling and over WhatsApp. On the international calls, they either go straight to voicemail or an automated message says “the number you are calling is currently unreachable. Please try again later.”
WhatsApp and iMessage are not delivering, and when using the internet to call, it just rings endlessly.
Israeli air raids have destroyed hundreds of buildings in the Gaza Strip overnight, the civil defence service in Gaza has said.
“Hundreds of buildings and houses were completely destroyed and thousands of other homes were damaged,” Mahmud Bassal, a spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defence told AFP, adding that the intense bombardments had “changed the landscape” of northern Gaza.
Large crowds have gathered in central London for a demonstration in support of the Palestinian people, with tens of thousands expected to take to the streets. A pro-Palestinian rally in London last week drew an estimated 100,000 people, and similar numbers are expected today.
Demonstrations are also planned today in Manchester, England, and in Glasgow.
In her address to the UN General Assembly, US ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said that it is “outrageous” the word “Hamas” is not mentioned.
“The Arab ambassadors say that they do not want to make this document political. That is why they say there’s not a need to include the word Hamas in there,” Elizondo said.
The amount of pure hatred I feel towards the U.S. ugh.
I've been noticing an increasing number of people boycotting American media altogether for all the wrong reasons. They mostly claim it's "American woke culture" trying to brainwash their kids into being lgbt. This has lead to more emphasis on Mexican, Korean, and occasionally Chinese media.
— Leader of the Hamas movement, Musa Abu Marzouk: There are members of the Palestinian Authority and some Arab countries who are secretly calling on the West to eliminate Hamas.
Al-Qassam Brigades: Our forces are currently engaged in violent clashes using machine guns & anti-tank weapons with the occupation forces, penetrating northwest Gaza.
The amount of water for all uses in Gaza has plunged to 3 liters per person/day. Like three liters. Two bottles of pop. For an entire day. By comparison, a single apartment tower uses 100K-200K liters per day.
At what point are people going to respond to pro-Israeli rallies with actual
Boiling down to fundamentals I've encountered two types of arguments in the past few weeks:
Hamas is beheading babies, so retaliation makes sense, Israel has a right to defend itself, Jewish people are entitled to their homeland
deranged, out of touch with reality, historically ignorant
Well Hamas is a conservative islamic organization led by dudes living in Qatar, so they would just create their own apartheid ethnostate lead by rich palestinians
this is just bizarre radlib bothsidesing using a hypothetical outcome to Hamas winning and them not being perfect secular social democrats
And this made me realize that the biggest propaganda achievement by Israel and the US has been convincing people that this is between Israel and Hamas, and not an anti-apartheid insurrection that happens to be led by Hamas among others.
Jesus.. I make one upvoted comment on and there are 50 replies from zionists and open fascists... Legitimately, how will there ever be communism if this 1/4 need years of reeducation and unshitting their brains??
Iranian President to Al Jazeera: We support, along with all Arab and Islamic countries and other countries of the world, an immediate ceasefire
The Iranian President told Al Jazeera: The United States and some European countries are obstructing the ceasefire in Gaza, and this is a crime
Iranian President told Al Jazeera: The United States’ calculations in the region are completely wrong and it will not achieve its goals in a new Middle East
Iranian President to Al Jazeera: We are making broad and various efforts and our support for the Palestinians and the resistance is not subject to compromise
Iranian President told Al Jazeera: The resistance in Palestine and the region is independent, the decision is in its hands, and it does not receive orders from Tehran
Iranian President told Al Jazeera: The Zionist entity and American support have no ability to eradicate the Palestinian resistance
The Iranian President to Al Jazeera: The United States knows well our current capabilities and realizes that exceeding them is out of the question
