There never was an Epstein list...non sequitur, here's a treat you howling swine.
One (1) person tries to blow up a plane with bombs hidden in his shoes: For the next 24 years everyone who boards a plane has to take off their shoes first
Over 400,000 shootings in 11 years: What can we do, these things just happen
Flight travel is profitable, keeping children alive surprisingly isn't. Sorry, that's just the infinite wisdom of the market at work.
It would actually be really funny to publish a study evaluating the cost of this policy over the last 24 years, even in bullshit neoliberal economic analysis.
Looking at the cost of time primarily - how long taking shoes on and off adds to the process, how many man hours have to go into TSA to do THAT specifically, the average wage of a traveler and the lost "value of their time" from the extra wait, and all of this multiplied by the hundreds of millions of flights per year.
That's what we're willing to spend to keep airlines profitable because people get spooked off flying due to a really weird and niche terrorist attack for like, a week, but we won't spend a goddamn DIME to stop children being ventilated in the halls of their schools.
Leaving the business of keeping children alive to parents and community members by their own uncompensated toil and at their own expense is very profitable
While I'm sure they appreciated this, I have always believed that the primary purpose of the TSA was to normalize the police state
edit: I believe even preventing plane related demolition was secondary to this
