The more I see about this new series, the more promising it seems.
So far, looks like it'll sound like the original movie, and look like the original manga. And man is that a combo that I had no idea how much I wanted.
I just realized the major must be getting a new VA with this series. As Atsuko Tanaka passed last year.
Now I'm sad. She WAS Motoko. One of those cases where an actor truly owned a charachter, so completely inhabiting them.
I wonder if we're getting the goofier Motoko from the manga
Excited to see Motoko wearing clothes again!
I love SAC but it was really off putting in scenes where she attends official meetings with everyone else in suits and she's wearing a leotard or even less. I know some of it was meant to be "she doesn't care about human appearance" or something but it still felt weird..
And also wearing actually nothing!
OG Motoko goes fully nude when using the optical camouflage of her skin, remember.
SAC didn't bother me. Fan-service is one of those things where no matter how you do it, it'll break immersion for some, and be completely below notice for others. Hopefully this one'll work for you.
Really looking forward to see another take on GitS.
I also have faith that Science Saru will come at this one from a unique direction and art style. 🤞 Fingers crossed that the story holds up and has something really interesting to say about the modern digital climate.
By Science Saru? Well, I'm looking forward.
IKR? A second teaser only just dropped, and there's essentially no animation being shown off yet. But the music and artstyle being shown off is fantastic.
I love that art style! Bring me back to those macross/harlock days but cyberpunk it!
Hope the original vibe of Bubblegum Crisis can make a comeback someday. 80s-90s OVA art style is too peak to be left in its grave, and its a shame it has taken this long for interest for it to come back.
Haha I always forget about the og bubblegum (even though it's still sitting on my coffee table since I haven't reorganized the bookshelf for it)
