If the prices go up on these ones does that not leave the opportunity for cheaper alternatives to fill the market or is the EU not capable of producing any new chocolate bars or chips?
The year is 2300: in the EU pringles and snickers are still only a few of the handful of confectionery available, nobody has come up with a better chocolate bar in 100 years /s
Big brands buy up the supermarket shelf space to shut out competition. Other brands just can't get a foot in in the big shops a lot of the time. There's not much, if any, own brand or independent stuff on offer in many aisles. They can make the products easy enough and at competitive prices but can't get them to the customers.
Good point but then I have to ask
This sounds like the real issue because it doesn't really change much if Mars and Kellanova are already dominating the supermarket aisle space?
Just instead of 2 American brands dominating the space it's 1 (no difference to shelf space for non-American chocolates)
This is such a weird and dumb comment, in several ways. There are tons of European chocolate bars, many of which are more popular than Snickers. You seem to think European countries only have a few sweet things they sell? That's just not true in any way and incredibly strange to think. And American brand snacks and candy are seen as cheap, because they are lower quality than most things available. I'd not be surprised if this was some odd troll attempt.
Did you mean to reply to me? Who are you talking to?
Well, depends on what you mean by "better":

For your sake, I hope you're lying because you like monopolies.
