What is actually meant in practical terms when it is said that ketamine causes kidney damage, what are the observable effects that results in?

I'm only familiar with DXM (is an anaesthetic/NMDA antagonist and it causes severe pee retention), does it mean that or the opposite and you're literally leaking?
