Oh they were quite all over the place literally black bagging people during the Black Lives Matter protests.
They're there, they're just acting as vigilante/militia members when they're off duty as cops.
Same with the SPD in Seattle, either the Police Union or an organization representing a bunch of cops is pushing real hard to prevent the names of a bunch of officers present at Jan 6th from being revealed and formally investigated.
I saw this map in a different magazine last night. While it's great, it should be mentioned that the map has a notation at the bottom saying it's a copy of a map hosted off-site and may be out of date. "Click here to go to the original hosting site", or similar words.
And the site that it links to is ICE.
So, thoughts: It's great that this is being mirrored off-site, but the mirror may be outdated. ICE may also contaminate the original data at some point. And if you want to access the actual current map, ICE will have your IP address (and has an executive order saying they can raid your house without a warrant), so perhaps take some precautions before clicking on that link.
This is pretty poor way to represent the data. The dots are almost impossible to distinguish based on size and they overlap too much in too many places. A choropleth map with divisions for municipalities would probably have been better.
Let's get a map of ICE agent home addresses.

These are the worst possible color choices to make a useable map for my colorblind ass.
If it’s any consolation, most asses are colourblind.
